How can I reach Mickinct? I'm new and don't have any posts yet.

Are you still repairing Panasonic DVRs? I have a DMR-EH50 that won’t power up. I tried replacing the power cord with no success. Can you send me a message at my email.

Thank you.

I have a Panasonic DMR-E75V. It is 12 years old. It gives an error message that it cannot read the disc when I want to play or record a dvd. I love this unit and would love to keep it rather than purchasing a new vcr/dvd combo. Can it be repaired?

Greetings, Mike

I tried sending you a private message, but it would not go through because I am new to this forum....

To be able to post Visitor messages your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Here is the message I tried to send:

Greetings, Mike.

I hope you are well.

I found your name posted and recommended here on avsforum as a qualified technician.

I have a Panasonic dmr-ez48v that is working fine for playing finalized DVDs, but it is giving me the following errors when trying to record on BRAND NEW blank DVDs :

"Unable to Read Disc"
or "Disc is incompatible"

or "There May be a problem with the disc. Press OK and the unit will power off, the unit will restart to try to make the disc usable"

Sometimes (and ONLY sometimes after many, MANY power cycles) the machine will actually record, and once one part of the DVD has something recorded on it, the machine reads those DVDs just fine and I can continue recording on those discs until they are full.

I purchased this machine in 2010 or 2011, and I see they are not manufactured anymore.

I am VERY reluctant to purchase a used one on eBay or anyplace else, because I fear the used machines are having the same issues.

Thank you sincerely for your time.

Warm regards,
Gerry in Massachusetts

panasonic DMR-EZ485V problems

I am trying to contact MICKINCT to see if he (Mike, I think) would be able to repair my Panasonic. I am new to forums of any sort and am not sure if this is how I contact you. If not, then I apologize. I don't even know if this translates to an email address if you reply but I am hoping that it does because I am familiar with corresponding via email.

My unit was having some issues with not "seeing" brand new discs properly a while ago. Many months hence, I got the dreaded F60 error when all I wanted to do is update the clock. I did a cold reboot and got past the F60 to the HELLO, but from there, nothing works. The power button on the unit does not work nor anything on the remote.

Can you help me out?

7/11/2017 Seems that I cannot include my email link at this time.

I think that you replied, but I cannot get to it via this forum as I saw an error saying something like cannot read probably due to pop-up blocker. I disabled my ad blocker but could not figure out how to access any answer to my first posting yesterday.

My Panasonic DMR-EH75V was working fine the other day; I was watching a VHS on it and hit "stop" to switch to something else. When I tried to play the tape again, all I got was "no signal." I've tried swapping out all the various cords and connecting it differently to the cable box (and even straight to the TV), but I keep getting "no signal." Anyone have any advice on what I should try next? mickinct, any thoughts? Thanks!

ETA: Talked to mickinct, tried some things, Panny is fine. Appears to be an issue with the cable box. At least that won't cost me anything but the silly things I saved on the DVR

I have a DMR-EH75V that will not boot. Just flashes the time and "Please Wait".
HDD is receiving little or no power as measured at power plug.
Removed drive from unit and plugged it into IDE power supply and it spun right up.
Recently if power was removed, had to wait several hours before it would boot.
Now not at all.
I would like to get it fixed by someone experienced rather than learning it from scratch.
mickinct, are you available?

S.

DMR 75 Problem

Evidently the DMR miracle worker is mickinct. Have a DMR-75 that has all the indications that it has a power problem plus ... 2 minutes and "bye" and a few error messages along the way. Seemingly have been able to control some unit functions with the remote until "shutdown". How can I contact you to discuss/coordinate possible repair. Thx much, Art

When my Panasonic DMR-EH69 DVD Recorder rebooted itself, I kept getting a U61 error message. It reads: "Self check did not complete. 1.) Press OK. Then the unit opens the disc tray, and turns to standby. 2.) Press POWER to restart. I followed the instructions. The tray then opens and the unit turns off. I turn the power on and it says HELLO and moments later it turns back on with the same message displayed across the screen. Even turning the unit off for ten minutes didn't help. What can I do to resolve the problem?

Hi Mike, my wife was able to try out the unit you fixed for us and it worked great! She was able to record to disc the videos she wanted, in case the unit breaks down in the future. I wanted to leave some sort of "positive feedback" for you for the great job on the repair PLUS the GREAT job with communication. You let us know every step of the way what was going on, and the repair was done quickly and the unit was securely packaged up and returned. Thanks again! Greg

Hey, I was an active poster here but got sidetracked with work for a few years. It's also been a few years since I've been able to use my Panasonic DMR ES-15 and would like to get it back to working condition.

So a few years ago, the disc drawer would no longer open, the unit displayed the U61 error, and then would cycle from 'CLOSE' to 'OPEN' to finally stopping on 'IN1.' The on screen guide would also display that the tray was open when it was closed. The unit doesn't respond to any buttons pressed, with the power button being an occasional exception. So holding 'CHANNEL UP' and 'STOP' does not open the disc drawer. Powering off via the button or remote sends the unit into what I assume is the self-check mode, with 'PLEASE WAIT' displayed. After over a minute, the unit returns to standby. Pressing power, the U61 error returns and the process repeats.

This week, I did try operate the unit again but the results were the same. I also took a short vid with my phone and could upload it but it's exactly as I have already described here. Two more things to note, I recall the disc tray opening after powering off for a hour but I still had the U61 error and eventually had to push the tray back in. I unplugged the unit last night for a while but the tray did not open. Lastly, I can still access all the settings with the remote, schedule a program, and set the clock. So that's at least a positive and hopefully limits the issue.

I'd like to send this out to be looked at soon but I wanted to see if there's a simple fix I should try prior to that. I've read a few people with U61 fixing theirs by cleaning the black spool on the disc deck or by pushing the head back. If not, I'm hoping Mickinct still services these as I live in a neighborhooring state would prefer to support someone local.

I have a DMR-ES15 which had very little use. Tried to use it back the other day, after a few years without use. When I plugged it in, the display says "PLEASE WAIT" and nothing else happens. I tried opening the tray and other things but, nothing happens other than the please wait flashing.
Can anyone give a recommendation on what to try? I believe I tried upgrading the firmware the last time and then the present problem persists.
Thank You

Add my name to the list of those who are back to burning discs again thanks to the service from Mickinct. I've been using mine for a couple months now and it performs just like the day I had unboxed it. Prior to sending it out, I spoke to him for a bit and he could not have been friendlier. I mentioned not to rush, as I was swamped with work but he still had it repaired within the week.

I also asked him if there was a break-in routine or if I could unleash the 100ct spool on it. Told me to go for it and I'm now almost through the whole spool, which helped free up hdd space. I couldn't recommend Mickinct higher and you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not considering him as your first choice. Thanks again
