Panasonic DMR-EH75V

My family and I used to use this fine recorder but now a U99 error.

I have a Panasonic DMR-EH75V.

Are people willing to work on these? What is my approach to fixing or junking this thing?

I have heard about capacitors too.

Thank you for any comments.

Mickinct is your best hope.

You can try to send him a PM and request help. But he does get busy so be patient.

That model is sort of considered "Royalty" among enthusiasts. so I would baby and pamper it and not throw it out. For long term care I also would make sure to not leave it plugged into a wall full time, rather plug it into a surge protector and then a computer UPS and/or power conditioner.

The usual applies here too.. never "Stack things on it", place a table mat or silicone pad on top to prevent scratches on the Top even if not stacking. Provide lots of air flow and watch for when the fan goes out and get it replaced.. and or augment its fans with an external AC Infinity USB fan with rubber feet and protective grill.. you can get those off Amazon. Some people get a laptop cooler and place it underneath.. but that might be going a bit far.. but they are not making these anymore and its the (only) 6-Way dubbing machine.. they are pretty precious. And of course.. don't loose the remote.. replacements can go for astronomical prices.

The caps aren't usualy too much of a problem.. they do age and eventually have to be replaced.. but leave that to a professional.

If at long last your ready to pass it on to another.. then pack it well (use upholstery foam and corner protectors).. its heavy.. but only use FedEx or a reliable shipper.. the next person will be ecstatic to receive it and will probably care for it a long time. Don't cheap out on shipping fees.. its too fragile even though its heavy to take a rough beating.

I completely, Mickinct is your best bet. He has repaired a few of my recorders and does first rate work!
