Cheap Verbatim DVD-R that are NOT AZO at Frys:

http://www.frys.com/product/8496178

This non-spindle 100 pack is on sale at Frys for $11.99 with a promo code.
I picked one up back in July, thought I better open it up and check before buying more.
Nowhere on the package does it say AZO. Fry's description states AZO, wrong!

The discs themselves just felt thinner, a little flimsy.
Run one through Identifier and they come up Ritek [RITEKF1]
Wow, Verbatim branded Ritek.
I've also seen the "Life Series" in blue & orange spindle packaging at K-Mart.

Amazon still lists the Verb AZO's at just over $20.
Last batch for me were Mitsubishi [MCC 03RG20]
I've got a half dozen spindles in my stock, so I'm good.

The Ritek's will go in the duplicator for my giveaways.

What is the promo code? It looks like $14.99 without code which still isn't a bad deal, even for Ritek's. I've had good luck burning such discs in my PCs but I do worry some about their longevity, although I have no proof they will last less than AZOs. I still use AZOs for things I really care about, that or Ty's.

You have to sign up for the promo code emails.
Real simple, click on the box in the top corner to sign up for emails.
Each day they send you an email with your personal promo code. Most are one day only. But, on Sunday they usually have week long promos in addition to a "one day only" one. They have some great deals, you just have to check your email daily.
The Verbatims (-R & +R) are good through Saturday, limit 5.

I'm waiting for the clearance sale (maybe ~March-April 2016??) for the last remaining supply of discs after TY-JVC stops production at the end of this year.
Who knows, might get some impossible to pass up deals.
Have to wait n' see.

I've got so much real verbatim azo media I bought at the office stores just before Verbatim bailed on their quality media, and raised their prices, I'm good for a long time. I was paying 14 bucks a 100 spindle so I checked country of origin and got mostly UAE Falcon media made disks, very high quality.
I hardly burn disks anymore with all my networked media players and big external drives.
BUT I am happy about the bdr media you guys clued me on to so I can make backups of my movies and maybe have decent large disk backups of my PC.
Have 100 now cheaper then one 50 pack would have been so I can finally start using my LG 6x burner I bought quite a few years ago.

They've been hanging around that $26-7 price point for many months now. It looks like "Optical Quantum" is fading as a brand. Amazon used to offer the whole line and now their selection is very limited. I first learned about and bought OQ BD-R at Supermediastore -- SMS no longer sells them.

What I find most interesting is that the 50 packs of Verbatim 6x BD-R are way down to $40 and have been holding at that price point also. I bought a couple spindles of the OQ 6x back in July at the $16 price. While I have been very happy using them for the past 5-6yr, I think I'll be buying Verbatim BD-R at the $40 price point going forward.

I see other prices that are lower via "new" and "used" (?!?!?!?!?) - even with fulfillment by amazon on the OQ brand -

I will need about 100 discs or so by Christmas time, so I have a bit of a wait before i really NEED them

Got 100 from the last two good deals posted so I think I'm good for a while, haven't opened either cake box yet.
Got prime cheap on a deal posted here so might use Amazon a bit more again. New Egg takes Pay Pal so used them last deal as I had just enough money left in it to cover it.

Yes, as a result of those sales I've got somewhere between 150-200 OQ BD-R (4X & 6X) so I'm also set for a while. Still, I'll be keeping an eye on the Verbatim price and if they ever have an Amazon sale that goes to $30/50pack, I'll buy a couple of those. I don't think I'll be buying any more OQ BD-R -- unless their DL prices take a nose-dive.

Is their single layer stuff not as good of quality? It certainly seems to be one of the best price deals around

BD-R use solid-state recording layers and not dye like DVD-R. The variability between manufacturers was reported to be small with budget makers getting good reviews. At the time I started burning BD-R, Verbatim was selling for $3/disk while OQ was under $1 so I took a chance. I always bought the logo-top 4X OQ disks -- the media ID was Philips and the reviews were overwhelmingly favorable. Disks I burned 5yr ago can still be read without error on my PC burners. The 6X OQ disks I bought don't have the Philips media ID and although their rating is still very positive, some people have complained they don't burn as well as the 4X -- especially with older BD burners. The 4X logo tops are still available and selling for essentially the same as the 6X -- if I were to buy more OQ without waiting for a sale I would buy the 4X.

Anyway, with the price of Verbatim dropping like a stone to compete, I'm willing to spend a little more for a BD-R in the future to get a Verbatim BD-R. Just my personal prejudice. As a side note: just like with Verbatim DVD-R, there appears to be a Verbatim budget BD-R I would avoid. There is a japanese import Verbatim BD-R that is selling for $0.70/disk -- it has a media ID of CMC. We all know what we think of CMC made DVD-R.

Needless to say, I wouldn't give it a second look.

Nice find.

That includes 50 packs of Optical Quantum Logo Top 6X BD-R. With $.99 shipping that makes them $13.50/50pack which is an even better deal than the $16/50pack deal that was on Amazon back in July.

Expires 11/13 -- tomorrow.

Sorry, no Verbatim in on the deal.

Actually if you scroll down you'll see Verbatim AZO -R 100 spindles.
Unfortunately it's more than my stock up point of $20/100 shipped, the Newegg deal is:
$40.99 regular price then 1/2 off=$20.50 but the kicker is the $2.99 shipping.
$23.50 is still a decent deal for 100 AZOs for someone who really needs them but I'll pass as I have plenty for now.

I bought 4 of the 50-packs of the OQ 6X (for 50 bucks)

$0.25 per disc is insanely good and should last well past NEXT football season, next purchase probably July 2017
Thank you so much for the heads up - all I has to do was subscribe to their newsletter

Wow, that is so cool.

They counted the total before the Promo discount to reach $50 and give you free shipping. I went in and added 3 spindles ($74.97) to my cart and got free shipping. Then I applied the Promo Code and it went down to $37.49 for 3 x 50packs with free shipping.

Who can resist a good deal with free shipping -- WTH, I bought them.
Verbatim BD-R will have to just wait a bit longer, I've now got close to 300 OQ BD-R.

If there is anyone still interested in this deal? If so, I think I know how to get you $10 back + possible portable points + any cashback/pts from your credit card. You would need to buy at least two spindles to get it though. If you are, pm me and I will give you the details. Need 3 people though. If not, no biggie.
