SWEET! New HTiB forums! Now maybe someone can help me out...ok, here's the deal. I currently have a Sony HT-5500D HTiB which works great for me, but I'm gonna leave it with my family for our living room. When I go back to law school after this summer, I want to upgrade to a 6.1 system, and I noticed that the Sony HT-7700 fits the bill perfectly...along with a ton of power (700 watts). I was wondering if anyone's heard this system and if so, what they think of it. Later!

Sony XEL-1 OLED TV (x2)
Samsung UN55C8000 3D LED TV and Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray player

You are absolutely in the same boat I am in. The HT7700 is the successsor to the 6600, which is the successor to our units.

It's supposed to be awesome, but I've only seen it at one online retailer that I'm not sure about and nowhere else. I don't even see at sonystyle.com so...what gives?

I actually saw this with my own eyes today at a local consumer electronics store. It was running at $599. Not bad!

What's up, Q? Did you happen to hear it or just see it? If you heard it, how did it sound?

I did sample it. I thought the sound was pretty darned good, all things considered. I think you could do a lot worse than this system.

If you decide to get it, just make sure you shop around a bit for it. You should be able to get it under $600.

Shopsunshine.com has it, I think Crutchfield's has it, or you may want to try Circuit City or a local dealer. Good luck!

Thanks, dude! It's definitely a contender. I'll definitely be getting it online, since I've never seen it at any stores. At first, I was thinking about getting the 6600D, but this looks better...6.1!

Yeah, it's the newest of that line. You may as well go for it. Shop around a little bit online and locally, just to make sure you get the best deal! ;)
