Need help with Sintra board.....

Ok so I have been talking with my local sign shop they have access to the material Sintra, but there is a problem that I need your expert opinions.

They have 4x8 sheets in 6mm and 12mm. $150 & $225! Really want 5x9 actually not going any small than 5x9!!!

Called back today they can order 5x10 sheet and cut to 5x9 problem is it only comes in 3mm? Would it be too flimsy or too thin? And it's $100 (by the way I'm Canadian in case you thought the prices were crazy, our dollar is at 67 cents now compared to US dollar lol)

Please let me know MM & others, thanks in advanced!!

Oh and with a 5x9 cut will my projected image fit "zero edge"?
Jvc x500r throw distance have not been determined as of yet, but between 12-16 feet.

The x500r is limited to no less than 12'-8" Throw "Lens Face to Screen" for a 122" Screen (107" x 60") allowing for an additional 3" distance from the absolute shortest Throw of 12'-5"

Other than that...yes, a 5' x 9' sheet will obviously work.

Thanks MM i guess my main question is if the 3mm would work fine for screen/black flame

The surface of the material itself is fine...the same as 6 mm. The thinness however does require that it be carefully mounted onto the wall (...a smooth, flat wall...) using very thin adhesive so that adhesive lumps, bumps and/or any wall related defects do not show through as a surface deformation. With 6 mm there are usually no issues.

You know might get you a better price for the Sintra......so you don't have to settle for 3 mm (which is notably less expensive...)

Is Sintra @ 3mm thick easier to mount than 6mm. I want to stick with velcro mounting if possible but will consider using a french cleat if necessary
