3 Layer Spandex Screen?

Hello, I have been using a parkland plastics screen for 10+ years, but now I am thinking of going to a AT screen. The spandex white over black sounds like the best quality, except for the low gain. Has anyone tried using 2 white layers over black. I just wonder if that would be a better compromise than white over silver. Or would 3 layers be too much to remain acoustically transparent.

Good 'ol Parkland. It was a great, economical choice "back in the Day" before PP got greedy, started calling it "Suitable for DIY Screens" and raised the price over 2x, and then when people rebelled, got miffed and put a Texture to the surface so people could not use it effectively as a Screen surface anymore.

(I still have a 5' x 10' Roll in storage... )

3 layers of Spandex has not been vetted for AT performance loss. It would be your own call, and your Ears to make any such determination. Besides, 2 layers of White, if indeed they help keep the top layer "whiter", would also reduce the effectiveness of the Black layer's influence.

White over Black helps preserve Blacks better than White over Silver, and far better than White over White

"They said it couldn't be done. Well, we sure showed 'em otherwise!"

Yeah, I got the 60" right before they got weird about it. Been a great screen, but with the new house we are in now, I think the AT might work better in this theater room.

I think I will order enough black and white to replace the screen I have now. Then experiment a bit with the fabric before assembling the screen.
