Not sure this was mentioned but I pulled out one of my Eric Clapton Cross Roads (Madison Square Gardens 2013) Blu Ray concerts and it is outstanding. I have been collecting concert footage discs since the early 90's (started with Laserdisc's) and transitioned to DVD later in the 90's when they came out. Wish I had bought more of the Laserdisc's but only ended up with about 200 (lots of Laserdisc concerts have never made it to DVD of BR) as they were very expensive at the time. DVD concerts now total about 600 and have moved on to Blu Ray and absolutely enjoy listening to concerts. The archival value is worth the price of admission as we have lost and continue to lose some of the most important performers of my time. Here's a link to the concert.

I like Clapton but don't feel like owning every crossroads concert. Is there one year's show that is considered better than the others? I also was thinking of getting the Clapton/Winwood show but have read reviews about poor audio / video.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

On blu ray, I have the 2010 and 2013 Crossroads concerts, and also the Clapton/Winwood BD. The latter is not bad, DTS lossy sound and stereo codecs only though. Video is okay, perhaps a little dark, and the DTS sound is fine, but not outstanding. The two Crossroads concerts have different all star line ups, so one may sway you over the other. The 2010 is outdoors, video is great and so is the audio in DTS HD Master. I prefer the players in the 2013 concert, and the audio is fantastic. The video here (venue is MSG I believe) I found intolerable. This is only my opinion, I know lots of people seem okay with it, but...it's the only blu ray, movie or concert, I've ever returned to the place of purchase for an exchange because I thought there was something wrong with the copy I had. Replacement was the same. Close ups and interviews are fine, but most medium to long shots are full of noise with flickering black back grounds, very annoying. When I put this concert on, it's only to listen to and not to watch. Only my opinion of course, YMMV. Outside of these, 2 other great ones from Clapton are the Cream reunion concert from Royal Albert Hall in 2005, and the fairly new Slowhand at 70, also from RAH. Highly recommend both.

I had read some reviews saying the video on the 2013 concert was grainy and that the second half of the second disc was a duplicate of the second half of the first disc. I do not have either of these issues on my copy and the video is excellent. The audio as you mentioned is also outstanding. I also have the 2010 Crossroads and the Clapton/Winwood concert BR as well as the Cream reunion concert. I too really like the Cream concert.

Interesting about the duplicates, I had never heard that, mine seems okay. I've often wondered if there's two different pressings or something, there seems to be such a disparity among owners of this concert.

Here are the reviews I saw on Amazon regarding the picture and duplicate disc issue.

Thanks for the link, yep, lots of people describing what I see as well. Never noticed the sync issue that's mentioned, but I'm not watching the video that close these days. It appears the duplication issue is mentioned by folks who have the dvd from the first page or so that I read.

BTW, I like what you mentioned earlier about your collection(s) of concerts. I have about 150 BD concerts, and I thought I was the only weirdo collecting these things

I noticed the Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors Live blu ray that just came out has a Dolby Atmos sound track (first concert to offer this?). If someone picks this up that has a DA system, it'd be nice to hear their thoughts.

Roger Waters, "The Wall", has Atmos although some might debate whether it could be considered a "concert", per se.

Oh right...duh, I even have that one (but I don't have Dolby Atmos, just 7.1). There may be others out there I've missed as well. There's a review at blu-ray.com, they liked the audio, though I don't know how much of that is attributed to the DA track over the standard 7.1/5.1. I wonder if this is something we'll see as time goes on...will audiophiles warm to "3D" type sound, having things come from above, or find it a bit gimicky? I'm a surround guy, but more of the 2D variety when it comes to music

I haven't purchased or listened to an atmos music blu ray yet.

For me with just 2ch upmixed with atmos enabled speakers. it really expands the dynamics of the music. Vocals and instruments enter and exit the room sometimes slowly dissipating with a sustain effect panning at times.

As of yet for me I haven't experienced the same effect with music like I have with movies. Where at times you get the sense that the sounds are overhead. With music, so far it's been more of an uplifting of the sound. Filling in the area above.

My equipment is listed in my sig a 7.1.2 dolbly atmos enabled setup. Using two JBL E-10 bookshelf speakers angled at the ceiling.

In the near future I [email protected]@k forward to adding the two additional atmos enabled speakers for a 7.1.4 config.

Not yet, priorities I guess. Picked up a couple of new concerts (Imagine Dragons, U2, Bee Gees, Burt Bacharach) and a couple of DVD-As by Aaron Neville....pretty much tapped out right now

I did pick up the disc being a Cohen fan and really enjoyed it! I do have it give it a sit down listen as I have played it twice while I was doing house stuff.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Rust Never Sleeps

Review on Amazon

5.0 out of 5 stars1080p/1: 78 Widescreen 192/24 DTS HD Master Audio 5 ...
By Amazon Customer on June 25, 2016
Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase
1080p/1:78 Widescreen
192/24 DTS HD Master Audio 5.1
192/24 PCM 2.0

No Bonus Features

Image quality, sourced from a 2k transfer of the original 16mm negatives provides a night and day difference over the DVD release from 2002. Yes, there is some grain but the new transfer provides greater depth and noticeable features, this is the definitive release of RNS!

Audio, being studio master quality 192/24, kicks arse!

The link to Amazon says it is Region B but I did some research yesterday when I first saw this post and found it is supposed to be released as Region A tomorrow.

Yes, well some will debate that it is anything other than 2 channel. I listened/watched for awhile then got up to realize the music was coming from left and right, and traces in the rears, center had some low volume ambient crowd noise. Very disappointed in this one. I get better results with a CD.
