Yes, Denon 4311CI from Amazon warehouse for $400 about two months ago. Front L/R pre out with a Monoprice 2ch amp. Then Center, Surround L/R with 4311. Wide L/R with 4311. Height L/R pre out with a Fosi 2ch amp. SurrBack L/R with 4311. Zone2 with Onkyo 2ch amp for the very far back old KLH 15"woofer floorstanders. Four Klipsch subs=13.4 if both zones are on for music. If just a movie up front, run 11.4 (no zone 2). Pretty incredible for under $2500 using mid price and previous speakers.

Gotcha Grumpy Gills.. No audiophile here. Just stoked about getting my set up going. Just saying the cd sounds incredible at 11.4 or 13.4 with different sound settings on the 4311. Will not post any more on this thread.

OK. Sorry. Before the heavens open up on me, was just setting up my new system. Going back and forth between everything setting wise. Testing 2.1, 5.1, 7.1, 11.4, 13.4 with my new deal. I will not leave any more replies here.

As you can tell, I am not an audiophile. Just saying that is the best sounding cd I have played yet.

I will not "pollute" this thread any more. Funny how one guy asked for advice on something that I am working on in this thread. I thought forums were used to explore new ideas and options. Not to shut people out.

They are... But not in this topic. This topic is about discussing 'discretely' encoded multi-channel music.

There's nothing stopping you creating your own topic about 'up-mixing' stereo music provided no similar topic already exists. In which case you can contribute in that particular topic instead.

I didn't see anyone asking your advice. Questions yes but no advice. You've posted three times that you won't post anymore in this thread. Do I hear a fourth .

Here I was getting all excited about a 5.1 Led Zep album...

Speaking of which... they are leaving so much money on the table by not making a Super Duper Amazing Most Deluxe Edition Box Set ever... with a 5.1 blu-ray (or SACD) tossed in to get everyone to quintuple dip!

Led Zeppelin may be the band that gets 5.1 adopted by the masses if they ever released their albums in 5.1... (not in a SDAMDEBS though, but stand alone). Well, probably not but still it would make a bunch of converts, especially with more and more people with 5.1 systems because of HT.

Anyways, just listening to Coldplay's Head Full of Dreams today while breaking in my new speakers (convenient as it auto repeats by itself).

Edit:

Yeah, I got that one a couple months back and have yet to listen to it. I do remember that the non-Steven Wilson Rush 5.1 albums are better than they seem to get credit for. I had very low expectations with the first couple I got and thought they were decent. Discrete and use of surrounds, etc. Not bad for a 3 piece band (well four once they start using the keyboard/synthesizer).

Moving Pictures and 2112 on blu ray are pretty good. I have the older MC blu rays of Fly By Night, Signals and A Farewell To Kings which I'd call 'serviceable'. Don't have any of the box set remixes, they were a little too pricey for me.

Yep, I was thinking of 2112 and I think Hemispheres (which I briefly owned). Haven't listened much to Fly by Night or Signals. Have the Steven Wilson mix of A Farewell to Kings but haven't gotten around to that one either. Perhaps I'll give it a spin tomorrow.

Yeah, I recall the new Hemispheres not getting a good grade in certain circles, but SW’s AFTK is pretty sweet.

Listening to:

Ok, I need some help here. I purchased 1812 Tchaikovsky in what I thought was to be an SACD as the Amazon sale was for
"Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture etc. / Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Multichannel
Hybr Rmst ed.
SACD, Hybrid SACD"

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

However, the jewel case cover and the CD do not have the SACD logo. It does say DSD Direct Stream Digital Recording yet no SACD logo

So, did they simply ship the wrong version?

Also, am I correct to assume that the "SACD" version of this will be multi channel?

Has anyone heard this and is it a recommended buy to have in the collection?

SACD, Hybrid SACD"

However, the jewel case cover and the CD do not have the SACD logo. It does say DSD Direct Stream Digital Recording yet no SACD logo

So, did they simply ship the wrong version?

Also, am I correct to assume that the "SACD" version of this will be multi channel?

Has anyone heard this and is it a recommended buy to have in the collection?
The Amazon link does show "Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture etc. / Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops Multichannel .

In description:
  • Format: Hybrid SACD - DSD
Maybe someone here has it and can confirm if its multichannel.
