It might need a FW update on these older players which probably won’t happen. IIRC, OPPO said as much.

If you’re having problems with more than one disc, it’s probably time to check the usual suspects. Clear Persistent Storage, which usually gets gummed up by BD-A discs. A player reset or checking the HDMI connections may also help.
Thanks for checking it out and the suggestions.

I switched the BDP 103 for my UDP 203 (previously used with my upstairs TV) so we'll see if the newer UDP 203 has the same issue. Didn't know about the persistent storage issue, will look into that.

Not really my thing, but the mix is very immersive, and somewhat discrete.

Lol... same here and it just arrived today and was listening to it for a bit. Not the best 5.1 mix by any stretch but also not terrible (some are better mixed).

Was also listening to the Kinks - Muswell Hillbillies and still can't believe that a release that has the usual black/white "stereo/multichannel" labeling on the packaging can actually be a misprinting and only contains the stereo mix.

Of course, the worst thing is that I actually discovered this when I almost bought it a week ago, promptly forgot about why I didn't buy it before (and why I had also removed it from my Discogs wishlist), and bought it. Such a shame because it's a good album and sounds great in stereo and would be great with a nice 5.1 mix...

Can someone describer what the surround sound sounds like for The Allman Brothers Band The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings? Are the rears discrete for certain instruments or is is crowd noise/ambient sound only?

I listened to disc 3 of The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings yesterday and it's crowd and ambient sound in the rear speakers. If you want to hear the Allman Brothers in surround with instruments in the rear speakers the Idlewild South 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition 3CD/1 Blu-ray set is excellent. Not only does the set have Idlewild South in 5.1 but there is also plenty of bonus material.

It's not a ping pong / four corners sort of mix. It's set up as a realistic sounding live performance. But as such, it hits the ball out of the park. The sound quality is spectacular and the multiple drums and guitars are all separated perfectly so you can hear who is playing what. The hall ambience is wide and very realistic sounding. I wouldn't pass it up just because it isn't a four corners sort of mix. This one is designed to be immersive even though the band is up front. It has real depth.

I forgot about the ABB Fillmore East DTS-CD. This surround mix uses full use of the surrounds with instruments placed in the surround channels. I'm playing it now and it's an interesting mix but I prefer The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings surround mix. Having Duane playing in the left surround is a bit odd IMO.

Looking on Discogs it looks like the DTS-CD is not that expensive.

The ABB Fillmore East DTS-CD, Mercury 5.1 SACD and The 1971 Fillmore Eat Recordings Blu-ray set all have different multichannel mixes. To me the best multichannel mix is the Blu-ray set, then the SACD and then the DTS-CD IMO.

I ordered "The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings (3 Disc) Blu-ray Set" from amazon.com on 12/27/18 after Bill Mac gave us all the heads up. I paid $17.25 including tax. Today, after 88 days of waiting, I finally received it.

Although I'm amazon Prime, I feel like I became amazon Sub-Prime.

In fairness to amazon, they gave me a $30 credit toward future amazon as seller products. All-in-all, I can't bitch too much. After all, they possibly could have canceled the order.

It's nicely packaged and includes a 44 page booklet. It's a little tedious to get the BD's out of their cardboard sleeves but no biggie. For $17.25, it was a steal! Currently, it's selling for $69.21 plus tax.

I plan to listen to disc 1 later today.

Thank you @Bill Mac

It was my pleasure to forward the Amazon deal on The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings Blu-ray set. I was just paying it forward as a member over at the Steve Hoffman forum had posted the deal originally. If you're a music fan joining SH is very beneficial. SH is very educational in regard to so many aspects of digital and analog music. One of the side benefits is that members often post killer deals from all over the world .

Recently acquired and just finished listened to the following:

Queen's Greatest Video Hits - Vol. 1 & 2 - DTS 5.1 @ 96 kHz. - Does anyone know the bit rate? The video's are mostly all lip-synced performances (con) but the sound quality and surround mix are superb (pro). "I Want It All!" really lights up my room with the band's vocals coming out of all 5 speakers.

Fleetwood Mac's White album - got this one based on reviews from this forum. Fantastic sound and surround mix - I like it better than Rumors. Found this on-line at WalMart.com for a very good price!

Toto IV - The sound and surround mix on this disc are glorious! Rosanna and Africa never sounded better . . .

Allman Brothers - Idlewild South Suoer Deluxe Edition Blu-ray.

This deluxe set is a must for any Allman Brothers fan! Excellent multichannel mix that has instruments in all speakers. It's like you're in the middle of the the recording studio .

Just listening to "Babylon Sisters" by Steely Dan. The textures and mix are just soooo awesome, it's a real bummer that more of their catalog isn't available in multi channel. I'd be willing to overpay for a comprehensive multi channel greatest hits package. Or a "Quadio" box set.

I'd like to hear Katy Lied in multichannel in particular. Black Friday would be great.

Agree. It's a great 5.1 mix, it was a pleasant surprise as I was not expecting too much.
