Trisha Yearwood - Where Your Road Leads, DTS 5.1 Music Disc
I'm a Trisha fan and this is a wonderful album. Her beautiful voice comes thru clear and clean.
A very nice 5.1 mix IMO.
This is my first DTS disc and plays with no problem in my Sammy 8500 - Marantz 7703
I'll also mention these got to be the easiest multich discs to rip, just rip them like a standard CD to flac, and play back file thru your AV. The decode to 5.1 automatically.
Also, if I let Neural X become active, this has to put more info into the overheads than I've ever heard before, strange. Way too much IMO but just as easy to shut off..
As cheap as they sell for on ebay, a must have for multich fans. Thanks AVS members for pointing me to this.

I have the CD. The liner notes state it is a DSD recording. I also have most of Brown’s other CD’s. Check out GuitSteel blues.

Bjork - Vespertine, 5.1 48/24 MLP, DVD-Audio. Haven't listened to this in a long time, perhaps not even this decade. One of my earliest DVD-As. Wouldn't rate it as one of my favourite Bjork albums but still a good album--certainly enjoying listening to it. An enveloping, but cohesive, surround mix--one imagines this is how Bjork "hears" her music when she conceives of it--with a not insignificant amount of deep, enveloping bass scattered throughout.

Here’s a great tip for anyone wanting to get into later Crimson. Listen with a football game on TV that’s on mute. The music pairs perfectly with the action on the field and you don’t have to listen to the announcers that never STFU.

I doubt that the multichannel version is DSD. In order to edit and mix DSD, you need to bump it down to PCM. To do native DSD, they would have had to record the whole album live in a single take mixing it live.

Frank Zappa - Halloween, 5.1 96/24 MLP DVD-Audio. My actual first DVD-Audio disc, before I actually had a DVD-A player (although a Pioneer DV-563A-S was on the horizon), just listened to the DTS 5.1 and LPCM 2.0. 5.1 mixes, not done by Frank (posthumous), of a number of tracks from three different nights of Zappa's Halloween concerts at The Palladium in NYC in 1978 (an annual event for a number of years). Revealing Audience Mix for the most part (with the exception of a "your head in the middle of the kit" drum solo from Vinnie Colaiuta) that benefits from the usual Zappa precision and clarity. Quite awhile since I listened to it, but damn good.

Frank Zappa - QuAUDIOPHILIAc, 5.0 96/24 MLP DVD-Audio. Zappa's other DVD-A disc. A collection of Quad and LCRS mixes from the vault, so probably all should be considered unfinished. Nonetheless, an almost unparalleled display of understanding of three dimensional sonics. Chunga Basement is an especial standout for me, capturing the feeling of being in a basement (or similar space) as a random arrangement of musicians jam/work out a song, with the natural sound of the instruments, especially the drums, nicely adding to the effect.

Shangri-La is one of my favorite Knopfler solo albums as well. My most favorite is Sailing To Philadelphia. The 5.1 mix on the DVD-A is outstanding IMO. My two favorite tracks are Silvertown Blues and Speedway At Nazareth.

I got the SACD 5.1 version off Amazon last year for $16.91.

Listing doesn't say its multi--channel and I think that was the same when I bought it. IIRC, someone here said there was no stereo only version. I figured the price was okay even if it turned out to be stereo. There are several listings for a bit less than I paid. I've bought CDs from -importcds (97%) rating.

Yes, I have the SACD of Shangri-La and it didn’t say it was 5.1 but just put it in to check and it shows 5.1 DSD on the Oppo.

I was asking about the Sailing to Philadelphia DVD-A

I'd like to share a bit of how today has went for me. I was at the Echo Bay Yacht Club in New Rochelle NY. Starting about 1:00ish, they had an awesome band "Back To The Garden 1969" playing at their club today. If you google them, you'll see that they play music from the bands that played at Woodstock.

This gig is on a small island, a quick ferry ride (3 minutes?) right off the coast. If anyone reading this has an experience with this New England location, you'll understand what it's like in late September. Crisp late summer/early fall weather, sunny and about 80°. This is one of the reasons why I put up with the B.S. about living in the North East.

They had plenty of food and kegs on tap, so you'll get the gist of where this missive is coming from. After I arrived home, I was in the mood for some good surround sound audio. Popping in "The Beatles" was a good choice. My NAD AVR shut down due to the volume I was pushing it!

If anyone discovering this thread for the first time wonders why I'm glad I invested in a quality surround sound system, it's because of days like today, where music is so encompassing.

I hope you find the same feeling too.

Spoiler!

Sam Cooke - At The Copa, 5.1 SACD Atco. Sam Cooke swings for an Establishment audience. A quality recording of Sam Cooke that seems to be more lamented for what it's not than appreciated for what it is. It's not a sweaty, full on Gospel screamer, but his amazing, supple voice and his intelligent use of it is on full display, and exquisitely displayed in the recording. His songs are displayed in a different context but they are plenty strong enough to hold up and the performances of the songs are excellent . This edition is well remastered and the surround remix, while front focussed as for a concert, is reasonably immersive in the abstract, and astonishingly immersive considering the source material was recorded and released in 1964.
