No DVD-A of Tusk. The best would be the DVD-V from the Tusk Deluxe box set from 2015. I have the set and it's well worth seeking out if you can find it for a decent price. The 5.1 mix is excellent IMO!

It beggars belief that this boxed set never had an official UK/EU pressed release. I would have really liked to hear the DTS 94/24 surround sound

The DVD of Tusk sounds fantastic. The original LP release was thick and muddy sounding and it was pressed on lousy vinyl. The CD didn't sound much better. But for the box set, they completely remixed the album and it is a huge improvement. It was like hearing the album for the first time. I could tell what they were trying to do. Lots of different kinds of sounds. Not your typical late period Fleetwood Mac album.

The Tusk box set was not "completely remixed" but remastered. The below quoted text is from the Rhino site announcing the Tusk Deluxe box set. I suggest you get your facts straight before posting incorrect information.

"The five CDs of the deluxe edition include the remastered original album"

Chicago II BluRay Quadio 4.0

What a beautiful sounding mix, I just got this one today and I'm really enjoying it.
Looks like I'll have to be getting more of the 9 disc set soon. (when I can catch them at a good price)

The Quadio box set is an great set with excellent 4.0 quad mixes. The whole set is well done with well done artwork and packaging. I never had any Chicago music in my collection before buying the Quadio box set. Outstanding music as well!

This is beautifully recorded, but at least for Mars, I like the more in your face performance of the Chandos recording from 2017. I suspect for the rest of the planets, which I don't care for as much, I'll prefer this recording. So, if you're buying mostly for "Mars", I'd get the 2nd one here by Chandos. If you like all of them, I'd get the first one, or better yet, both.

A 5.1 mix of a legacy title stereo album is BY DEFINITION remixed. The stereo CDs may be remastered, but that isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the surround mix on the DVD.

Heed your own advice, champ. Why do you have it in for me so bad? I would gladly leave you alone if you didn't dog me in thread after thread.

drh3b, I got the Previn Planets in the mail the other day and I'm looking forward to listening to it. Previn was an A list conductor and had a special knack for British composers. His Elgar is fantastic. It's like Tilson-Thomas and Ives. Some conductors are just predisposed to being able to conduct certain kinds of music.

A most excellent sounding 24/96 5.1 mix, really hard to beat for SQ.

Thanks Bill. Just purchased. 20 bucks is a good deal.

I look forward to comparing the Blu-ray version to my SACD. As much as I like the SACD, I feel there's room for improvement.

I also still have the Quad LP bought back in the late '70's, but never did get a chance to listen to on a quadraphonic system.

Todd Rundgren's Utopia 5.1 Blu Ray...

Just recently picked this one up and really enjoyed it, pretty good sound and video. It's front weighted with some decent surrounds at times. If your a fan of Todd's Utopia this is a good one.
