Elvis Presley – ELV1S 30 #1 Hits
Format: DVD, DVD-Audio, Multichannel, Compilation
"The first 18 songs ("A Little Less Conversation" through "Stuck On You") were mixed from the original multi-track master tapes and the last 13 ("A Big Hunk O' Love" through "Heartbreak Hotel") were mixed from the original mono master tapes. Tracks have been mixed and mastered in 5.1 Surround Sound."
in addition to dolby 5.1, this dvd has 96khz mlp audio tracks inside the audio folder of the dvd, but you may have to ferret it out if the dvd fails to put a menu up on the screen... well worth it tho, i did A/B comparisons using foobar2000, vs. the best stereo recordings with/without auro-2D, the sound quality on this dvd is great on most of the tracks, it fills up the room much better.
why care about elvis? i certainly didn't, back in the day i was into uriah heep, foghat, grand funk railroad, and of course dsotm... but a couple of weeks ago i fell into the bo diddley rabbit hole:
a legendary performance by a legendary group, unfortunately ruined by fake screaming and fake audience cutaways :-/ bo diddley was a truck driver who didn't have the talent of little richard, so he created his own bo diddley beat: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...diddley-59117/
which elvis was reputed to have used on "(Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame", the song that led me into digging up a surround sound version of it.
history aside, if your s.o. was old enough to remember listening to elvis on the am radio, you can't go wrong with throwing $10 at this dvd
if you don't know what am radio was, well, ymmv
