I really like The Secret. SQ and Mix are excellent. I have a few DTS CD's that sound better than some HI Rez Releases. The Mastering really is very important. Check out the DTS release of Joshua Judges Ruth. It is one of my favorites.

Tales and Pyramid are both underrated APP releases. He kind of lost me at Vulture Culture.

All of the Parsons multichannel releases I've heard so far benefit from a boost to the center channel.

Not on my system. Just listened to "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination Edgar Allan" and it sounded great. No need to boost the center channel volume at all. Same for the "Eye In The Sky" multi-channel mix. Most Alan Parsons' multi-channel mixes have very little content in the center channel. Maybe you need to re-calibrate your system or locate your right and left front speakers (closer together?) for better sound quality.

i only need to readjust the levels on four or five discs. Interestingly, those are all music discs. Movies are all very consistent. i think the standards for multichannel music aren't as established as for movies.

I agree. I never have to fiddle with levels when it comes to movies. Only a few of my many music discs need any adjusting to suit my taste.

When I ordered from Import CDs it now states release date of 4/3. Just a heads up.

I noticed that yesterday as well. The interesting thing was that there was a pending charge from importcds on my credit card. So I assumed the Ammonia Avenue Blu-ray had shipped. But when I checked my statement yesterday the charge was gone. I was all excited to get the Blu-ray. Hopefully it'll ship on the importcds 4/3 release date.

On the back of both disc releases it states: "Andy Jackson under exclusive world-wide licence to Cherry Red Records Limited". So I would seem that Cherry Red Records are to blame for the incorrect information on both discs! Getting the information wrong on the 2014 disc release could, I guess, be explained away. But getting it wrong again on the 2016 disc release smacks of poor internal communication and overall management!

It makes me wonder how many of their other disc releases carry incorrect information...

I've noticed supposed DVD-As that are actually DVD-Vs at least a few times. I can't remember many off hand but I know Hootie & the Blowfish's Cracked Rear View is one of them. If I look through my catalog I'm sure I can find at least a few more. To be honest, though, I use my Oppo's display to determine if a disc is DVD-V or DVD-A, which I'm not sure is really accurate or not.

The biggest mislabeling I've seen ever is the Kinks DVD-A that is labeled as multichannel on the packaging/disc but is actually only stereo!

Discogs lists two 'multi-channel' release versions of that album. This Atlantic 2001 release and this Rhino 2019 release... Which version do you have?

I had the original "DVD-A" release first and then the box set release last year, which both have the same content and are DVD-Vs.

That's weird... The images of the discs from the original Atlantic 2001 release show a double sided disc with side a stating 'Advanced Resolution Surround' along with a serial number. And the disc cover artwork has the 'DVD Audio' logo slapped all over it.

By contrast, the Rhino 2019 release is quite obviously a DVD-Video release!

Exactly! The labeling/packaging indicates "DVD-A" but it is in fact a DVD-V. I believe the content on both is the same, same audio mixes and both have video content as well. I think only the menus/authoring is different.

"Muswell Hillbillies." I only learned this after I bought it and couldn't find the MC track and googled what the issue was. Turns out it was a misprinting and I guess it wasn't worth reprinting it. Too bad as it would have been cool to have it in MC.

Yep, I got this on Monday and it is a solid mix. Some tracks have fairly heavy use of the surrounds, which I almost always like, so I approve of this release.

I've had a chance to play this completely through several times now and I'm happy to say I'm very pleased with the overall sound and mix. The vocals are very clear and present in the mix with the exception of the hit song "Don't Answer Me" which to me the vocals sound a little distant. This could very well be the intention of the artist on this track and by no means sound bad. There is also a little of this on Ammonia Avenue as well but doesn't really distract from the song, IMO.

The overall surround mix I find is active and makes a good use of the surrounds without sounding gimicky. The 5.1 mix really sounds good IMO and adds alot from the stereo mix. The bass on the mix is good without sounding heavy or overdone. I find the whole album very pleasing and will be playing it for some time to come. Hopefully others will enjoy this as much as I am and look forward to hearing some of our members reviews.

I just gave the Ammonia Avenue Blu-ray a second listen at a bit higher volume. I think it's one of the better if not the best 5.1 mix of the three APP albums on Blu-ray.

I also found the vocals on "Don't Answer Me" to be a distant. What I found was that there was no vocal content in the center where there was some vocal content on the next track "You Don't Believe". Like with the other APP Blu-rays the center channel content and volume is quite low. But with "Don't Answer Me" the vocals seem to be only in the left and right front channels. When I checked this my ear was just a few inches from the center speaker.

I look forward to future APP albums on Blu-ray .
