Multichannel DSD

hi
i have many ISO SACDs , many hybrid with 5.1 channels
My receiver can handle DSD from HDMI

The only way to play it is:
1. extract the ISO to DSF files (up to 500MB per track!!!)
2. store it in the NAS
3. Using pioneer BDP 6700 - stream from the net and send to HDMI

does anyone here have a better way?
any streamer/computer/player that can access the ISO directly and send DSD to HDMI?

thanks

Not many choices for your situation. You would have to get a new set up. I went through a lot of time and money figuring out what would work well and be most flexible. It is not cheap. Take a look at my signature for some of the equipment that i have.

Also, if you do REALLY want dsd, make sure that you turn off YPAO while playing.

Your search is much easier of you just convert the 5.1 content to LPCM files at 24/88.

Your Yamaha doesn't do anything special with DSD input, it all gets converted to LPCM somewhere.

Or even FLAC at 88.2kHz/24-bit

Are you using YPAO room correction? Found that I much prefer converting 5.1 DSD to PCM with my Oppo player. The reason for this is to be able to use Dirac room correction. The sound quality is much better in my room when using Dirac opposed to 5.1 DSD direct.

My SACD collection and HRAudio.net Library, getting larger as my wallet gets smaller ;-).

Emotiva XMC-1, Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE (preamp), SX-500s, ST-500, ST-250, Oppo UDP-205, UDP-203, BDP-105, BDP-103, BDP-93, BDP-83, Panasonic TC-P60GT50, Panamax 5100EX, Salk HT2-TLs, Salk 1801b center, Salk 1801TL (surrounds) and two Rythmik F12SEs.

I use dBPoweramp to convert my SACD rips to FLAC, and then JRiver to play them.

Cheers,

Out of interest... When you encode to FLAC, what 'sample rate' and 'bit depth' settings do you use?

Not wanting to start a DSD/PCM flame war.... Given that the sample rate of an SACD's DSD audio stream is 64 times that of an CD's PCM audio stream (DSD = 2822.4kHz and PCM = 44.1kHz). It's deemed good practice to use increments of 44.1 kHz.

Which I why, whenever I convert DSD to FLAC I personally use 88.2kHz. Although some people convert using 176.4kHz

The comparisons I've done between my rips and the original discs have revealed no perceivable difference so I'm happy with my process. YMMV.
