I just recently heard about poor quality digital file LP’s , this made me wonder about future purchases of sacd’s and dvda discs.

I have decided to go digital instead of analog with music, my room really shaped up sound wise and digital fits fine.

So, where do you find discs you can trust

Your thoughts please

As of Feb 20th still looking for a Marantz SR7010

Follow the Listening To In Surround thread here at AVS. You'll get some great ideas and discussions on music you may like. Of course ask questions about the quality of the surround mix. For me though it's more about finding out about surround music I was aware of.

QQ also keeps a surround poll where you can sort by score. You can't really go wrong picking from the top albums here.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Also very important when shopping for SACDs and DVD-As is to do your research on pricing. If a title your are looking for is OOP (out of print) check Discogs to get an idea of what a specific title is going for past an present. Then also check eBay, Amazon and independent record stores that list used titles on line. Over the years I've found rare OOP titles for a fraction of the going prices. As far as new titles shop Amazon, Importcds, Bull Moose and other music sellers. Try Google as sometimes a new title will pop up at a seller for a really low price.

I've found that being patient is key and not to jump on a title especially if the price is high.

I haven't found any correlation between format and quality. I have SACDs or blu-rays that sound great, and others that aren't as good as the CD. It all depends on the quality of the mixing and mastering, not the bitrate.
