Regarding the Infinite set, it appears the only difference between the six individual discs and the box set is the inclusion of the booklet with photos and essay. Am I missing something else? Seems like not much more for the extra $100 or so....

My focus is geared towards the multi-channel mixes.

Well for starters the Perception box set is DVDA whereas the Infinite box set is SACD. I have the Perception box set and several of the AF SACDS. The SACD uses the same mix as the DVDA but supposedly with some additional futzing by AF. I've a/b a few surround tracks from each format and for the life of me, couldn't decipher any difference.

I prefer the Perception box as you get a lot more content with live tracks, demos, alternative versions and so forth. Plus, it's a hell of lot cheaper...

Was just re-configuring my stereo set up and started pulling out some of my HiRes discs to test and one thing led to another.....Ordered from Amazon which I haven't done very often. Kind of held my breath and read the copy three times to be sure....worked out.

George Harrison "Live in Japan" Couple new songs I hadn't heard. Good guitar from Clapton but as documented in the All Thing Must Pass film on HBO or Showtime, can't remember, Georges' voice was in very bad shape at that time.

Hall and Oates "Rock'N Soul" Mobil Fidelity This needs a few more listens but something seems "off" to me but could be just me. Never really listened to the original recordings. fun stuff but not sure how often I'll pull it out.

The Band "Music From Big Pink" Mobil Fidelity Never listened to this much back in the day but was pleasantly surprised good stuff.

Anyway, I just picked up the 50th Anniversary Deluxe set which is a 2CD+DVD featuring original '67 stereo mix, '72 stereo mix, BBC radio sessions, alternate & mono mixes, and a DVD which includes a 5.1 surround mix and (3) live performances from the album.

For anyone interested, you can pick the Deluxe set up at Amazon.co.uk right now for $15 shipped.

That's too bad. When I posted the link from Importcds the In Step MOFI SACD was still available. I've ordered quite a bit of music from Importcds over the years. But when a listing is listed as "Back Order" it could be awhile till it's in stock if at all. The In Step MOFI SACD is in stock at Elusive Disc. If you really want it grab it now before it's gone and the prices go crazy!

I stopped ordering back-ordered items from ImportCDs and their sister companies. They used to fill them with far more regularity. Now it's a crapshoot whether a backorder is filled.

Thanks! for sharing Phantom Stranger.
I, too, have wondered how reputable these companies operate? Look over their feedback and it is quite a carp-shoot?

I have a chance to pick up used copy of the Police "Every Breath You Take" SACD for $15. For those that have this how is the 5.1 and 2 channel mixes on this? Worth picking up?

I'll buy just about any surround mix at the $15 dollar level. Concerning the Police disc: the quality of the surround mix is a little uneven song to song; but the songs that are good, are really really good; Wrapped Around Your Finger for example is probably worth the price of admission alone.

Meddle 5.1

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered. I have the Reverberation box set in blu-ray. It is copyright @2106 I have used MakeMKV and dvdfab mini trying to see the 5.1 tracks. I don't think my box has them. How can I confirm?
Also, if any one is aware of good threads helping a novice rip discs to a hd, please point me in the right direction. I am in the process of ripping dvd's using MakeMKV, but are there other steps needed to choose audio, subtitles, extras, etc.
Many Thanks

There are Meddle 5.1 tracks in that set. I was able to find them, though I forget with what tool. (As you know, they are not mentioned in the contents.) But I have it as an MKV video with chapter stops for the songs. I'm sorry that I don't recall any more. I can tell you that the audio is 24-bit, 48khz sampling, 6 channel.

After I found and extracted them, I stopped following the "lore" on why they are there. So I do not know if they were removed from the set at some point.

Here's the forum thread on the topic of ripping.

Try DVD Audio Extractor on your MKV rip. It's free to use for 30 days. When you play the discs from the box do you have the option for 5.1 in the menu? Been awhile since I've used DVD A Extractor but I think you will be able to see 5.1 tracks if they are on the disc. Pretty sure you can create a 5.1 mix once you rip the MKV file to individual tracks. For all other aspects of ripping follow the link that Jeff posted . Good luck.

Hi @DLDukes ,

If you are trying to find the hidden 'Meddle' mixes, they are not available within the cheaper standalone 'Reverber/ation 1971' Blu-ray disc.

Please refer to my reply to your same question here: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/112-su...l#post56087976

Thanks to all for knowledge and advice on Meddle and ripping processes. It will taking some work, but with AVS members as my best source I'll get there.
