There are 2 more Bad Company Blu rays.......Hard Rock Live[which is also pretty good]and Live At Red Rocks[which I don't have]

The best way to listen to music is in 5.1 imho.

Thanks. Was hoping to just find the studio recordings in High Res. Didn't see anything in some quick searches so thought I would ask here.

Review??? Is it any good? Better than the cd? Only other metal high res I have is Megadeth Peace Sells on DVDA. But I think it sucks, super harsh. I was so bummed, one of my favorite albums.

It just shipped media mail today so I won't get it for a bit. It's a Sliverline release but is generally very well reviewed. Remember, everything sounds better in surround.

Check out the stereo layer of Megadeths DVD Audio. It's slamming.

Other titles you may want to consider:

Ayreon: Into The Electric Castle
Ayreon: Actual Fantasy Revisited

For me, it is case by case. For example, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon SACD, Perfection. By far my favorite example of what High Res audio should be. Same with Nora Jones Come Away with me on sacd. Both are multi channel or stereo and I prefer the MC tracks. Yet, Foreigner 4 on DVDA, I prefer the stereo tracks over the MC. I go with what sounds better to me on my system. That Megadeth disc though, either the stereo or MC tracks flat out suck on my system. Playing the cd version through my TriVista tube dac sounds better to me. But, it's been years so will give it another listen. Wish Iron Maiden offered more than the one disc, which happens to be one of the few discs they made that I'm not too fond of! Would also love to see Rush get their albums out there in hi res. 2112 would be awesome if they did it right. But looking at current pricing on high res, starting to stop collecting. But some discs I will have to buy. Is Pink Floyd The Wall available?

There is no multichannel mix of The Wall (studio album). There was talk from James Guthrie about his work on a multichannel mix and a release on SACD. That was quite awhile ago and so far no announcement of a release of The Wall on SACD.

Did this James guy do Dark Side of the Moon as well? If so, I will say a prayer tonight for him to complete the project!!! Whoever mixed that SACD, is who needs to do them all. Nora Jones is also remarkable, but then again, so is the standard cd version.

Surprisingly, the Motorhead disc arrived today. Disc in a protective sleeve, wrapped in cardboard, wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a padded mailer. A+++ on packing.

Anyway I digress. This is a really well done surround mix. Well worth searching out.

Yes it was James Guthrie who did the 5.1 mix of DSOTM. Alan Parsons did the original 4.0 quad mix of DSOTM back in the day. As much as James Guthrie did an excellent job on the DSOTM and WYWH 5.1 mixes I prefer Andy Jackson's multichannel mixes. He did The Division Bell, On An Island and other David Gilmour solo album 5.1 mixes.

The Division Bell in 5.1 is expensive and hard to come by (DVD and Blu-ray from the 20th Anniversary set) but well worth seeking out. It is my favorite 5.1 mix from Pink Floyd with a more discrete and immersive quality to it. The current selling prices of the DVD are crazy with the 20th Anniversary box set actually being the better deal. A few years back one of the official Pink Floyd sites was selling The Division Bell DVD for $12 plus shipping. I bought a few extra copies just in case .

If you're a Norah Jones fan and want to get the best Come Away With Me SACD version look for the Analogue Productions release. The stereo layer is far superior to the original Blue Note SACD. I believe the 5.1 mixes are the same on each SACD. If you're a big fan there's a six SACD box set titled "The SACD Collection". I have the set and it's an excellent sounding set. One of the SACDs is covers of various artists that's exclusive to the SACD box set.

Quadio Box Set

I never even had a LP or cassette from this band, even though I've always liked them. This should take care of that problem!

Oh, and I'm going to have to go into a self imposed exile from any more new purchases for awhile....

Nice! The Quadio Blu-ray box set is excellent in content and packaging. I really like how each disc has a plastic sleeves inside of the cardboard sleeves. It helps eliminate the discs from getting scratched.

If your self imposed purchase exile is anything like mine you'll be good for about a day or two .

It's funny how those types of plastic sleeves make all the difference in keeping discs scratch free for the end consumer. I just HATE spending $$$ on some brand new, sealed (and not fake, re-shrink wrapped albums that I've gotten from time to time) only to find it has some light scratches simply from being in a cardboard/paper sleeve. I bought some live U2 "bootlegs" and there were 11/12 CDs in each box and all 23 discs were in great shape because they were all in the plastic sleeves. The Miles Davis Bitches Brew SACD set also uses those sleeves but they seem rare generally.

Agree that the Ry Cooder MOFI's are most excellent.

My favorite Ry Cooder hi-res disc is still A Meeting By the River with V.M Bhatt on his Mohan Veena guitar and Joachim Cooder on the Goblet Drums. A record of pure beauty, a musical journey you wish never ended.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I've had this album for over ten years and didn't realise it offered a surround sound option: -

...it was a pleasant surprise. It's as if I've bought it for the first time

I have the Meeting By The River SACD as well. Haven't played it in awhile. It'll be on the short list for playback tomorrow .

I've had the DVD-A of this album and it's in fairly regular rotation (when I have time to indulge--not as frequent as it used to be ).

The best thing about this one is that it comes in the super rare, double SACD-type jewel case (unfortunately, mine came cracked from Amazon). I debated buying for a long time until I picked it up a couple years ago and IIRC it has a fairly weak surround mix. Surprised you didn't own it already.

The George Harrison Live In Japan double SACD arrived with the jewel case cracked as well. One of the cover hinges is cracked so when I open the case the cover falls off. I'm not sure if a standard jewel case cover will fit but I'll give it a try. I would agree that the surround mix is a bit weak. Definitely not an SACD that would be very good demo quality. I looked to buy the set a few times but the price was good so I couldn't resist .
