It shouldn’t mess anything up. YPAO should just interpret a well placed sub and have less work to do. When YPAO runs a signal to the sub and its mic “hears” it, the sub will be playing an already improved sound. It’s the same idea as what Anthem recommends to those who own a Paradigm sub with a Perfect Bass Kit (essentially ARC for just the sub). They say run PBK first and run the receiver’s ARC with the corrected sub.

nice thank you. I think I now have confidence to by the antimode. Are there a specific setting/lift for movies or does it depends on room and subwoofer brand?

I leave it flat, as my SVS goes below 20hz with authority in my small room and the Antimode is primarily taming a significant hump around 20-25 hertz anyway. I tried the lift settings with my older, less capable sub but preferred flat as well.

my mksound x10 has Frequency Response: 20-200 Hz (+/- 2 dB in band tolerance) so I guess its flat here as well

I like my bass to be clean and articulate, while many like to run their subs a bit “hot”, especially for movies. The Antimode lift settings are easy enough to try (no need to recalibrate) but you might want to try them before running YPAO. Otherwise, you’ll be changing the sub response after EQ has been applied. Just FYI.

i have bought a used antimode cinema and i think its working ok. but i am a bit confused to what the diference between flat and subsonic only is. On the lifting modes it says that it will engage a infrasonic filter that cuts of from 10Hz to protect ported subs. Is the subsonic filter doing the same ??

after have used the antimode cinema on few more movies I must say that I am very disappointed.
In my room with the antimode connected running on flat setting the bass is very boomy and overall to much. If I turn the level down the bass is not near as good as the Yamaha EQ.

I have placed the antimode mic on a tripod in my mlp facing towards center of the room and I ran the sweep 6 times I think.

I'm no expert... But since Antimode does not try to fix nulls and only lowers peaks unlike audyssey, I would think the end result would be flatter with Antimode at you have lots of peaks...

I have had Antimode, audyssey xt32, anthrm ARC and PBK..

The winner has always been Antimode...

Something special about this magic box...

Hi gang, I had an 8033S that was subsequently sent in and upgraded to an 8033S-II. That was about 6 years ago. Does anyone know if there have been any further improvements/upgrades etc to the 8033S-II since then? Thanks.

1. Bass EQ in the Yamaha is awful, so using the 8033 is a good idea.
2. The 8033 accepts only one input but, iirc, it has 2 outputs. Those output are, iirc, of inverted polarity so you have to switch the polarity on one of the subs.
3. So, take only one sub output from the Yamaha, feed it to the 8033 and, after connecting both subs, handle them as one.
.................................................. ............................
However, you need to figure out some way to configure level and phase for each sub independently before all this. I don't know what tools you have for this.

You should also consult SVS for suggestions.

Hi, I'm using the Anti-Mode Cinema with my yamaha avr...just want to know after I've calibrated my subwoofer with the anti-mode, which one should I select before running the YPAO/AVR calibration?

Sub-Sonic or Flat?
