1.- Move those bookcases out of the front wall. You are limiting your sound stage having those bookcases on the front wall.

2.- Move each front speaker 1.5 ft - 2 ft to the outside. That would give you a much better sound stage as they would be about 8 ft to 10 ft apart. Right now they are like like 4 ft which with the center between and your seating position at more than 15 ft, what you have is literally a big mono speaker up front.

3.- Place the FV25HP on the right corner like 1 ft from the side wall and 8" from back wall. That would give you enough corner load gain which you need in such a big room.

4.- If you can, move the sofa up front so the distance from the front wall to the sofa is equal to the distance between the main speakers. If the speakers are 10 ft apart, the sofa should be no more than 12 ft from the front wall.

5.- Run calibration and listen again.
Okay I did everything but one quick question, the calibration keeps saying my sub is 33 ft away, do I keep it that way?

The only explanation for that is that you are using LINE IN and the delay/phase knob is all the way up. That would add 16ms which is like 16 ft. Make sure you are using LFE IN or if you are using LINE IN set the delay/phase knob at 0 and crossover on the subwoofer all the way up.

It looks good. What receiver do you have and what is the physical distance from the mic to the subwoofer measured with a measuring tape?

Something is not right with your receiver as the distance should be very close to 10 ft. Our amps have no DSP so there is not added delay. Are you by any chance using a wireless subwoofer adapter to send the signal to the subwoofer?

No its connected straight into the receiver using the LFE and Sub out 1. I changed the distance to 10.4 as it should be. Here's a picture of the moved set up I use tape measure to distance all speakers equally.

Okay, quick update. This sub is amazing lol. Made all the appropriate changes suggested by enrico helped alot, I still have some nulls but way better now. Also helped that chucky7 Charlie came by and ran the REW to see what we are working with. I forgot to take a picture but I'm getting a mic and mini dsp next week. So far this is a beast, definitely loving it. Nothing but smiles as everything shakes in my house everyone here thank you for your advice and help. I do appreciate it. I hope to get my mic next week so I can make this sound even better with my new speakers.

Man that's awesome! Chucky came by and helped out too! He really knows his stuff, if he can't make it work pretty much no one can. What an awesome community this is. Chucky doesn't even have a Rythmik and he came through.

Yes the amp plate is warm for me too. I moved my FV25HP all around the room to find a sweet spot and ended at the left side in front of left speaker. I use "quick mesure" feature with Anthem ARC genesis ( AVM60 ) you can measure the response at each position.

Found 2 similar positions for the room response at MLP. One in the corner (graph was OK) but I felt nothing at MLP. And the second on the left side, where I have accurate and strong bass but still a little dip at 30 Hz.

I told you to be patient because the first times I was upset to see that the sweet spots for my former sub were not ok for the FV25HP. The behavior is very different for each sub.

QUICK measure is a very good thing to check the position of every speaker and for the sub of course. You can use REW too.

With this kind of sub, it's mandatory

I promise you will be very very happy, I tried a lot of subs and YES this one is PITA to move and setup for the first time. Yes it seems to lose some tightness when you're still tweaking, but once it's done, MAN ! it's unbelievable and unrivalled. Trust me, I have Greg's disease. My name is Joseph, and I have a problem . I'm bass addict

Distance settings in the AVR have little correlation to actual distance. In other words, they usually will not match, and that is okay.

Definitely sounds like what I experience with an 18.5 hz sine wave generated through my system.

So my subs are arriving tomorrow. Although I have a dedicated media room, due to the size of the FV25s I only really have two location options...

1. One is laying on their sides in between the Left & Right Front speakers and center (pic 1):

2. Two is laying on side or standing upright in back of room where Wisdom STS is currently at (pic 2):

From reading obviously it would be ideal to move them around and take measurements but the aisle up the left side is pretty tight so that would be very difficult to do.

Any suggestions on where to best try first...front or back?

Also, since both subs are in identical and will be equidistant from the MPL in either location would a Minidsp 2x4 still be recommended?

PS Due to the size of the STS I only had one option with that so there was no thought or measurement as to where that is currently located.

Thanks Much - Paul

Actually I would love to hear that system. Conventional wisdom suggests there's no way you would be able to correctly balance and integrate such disparate equipment so I'd be very interested to hear what you have wrung out of it. I imagine that was quite a challenge.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite...

Hi Jim,

LOL! Maybe I just am a very poor judge of sound quality, which is totally possible, but after playing around with my Dirac Live calibrations a bit I think it sounds pretty darn good. Definitely a challenge...I will say I could never get a good result when I tried using Audyssey but Dirac seems to allow me the flexibility to play with it enough to where I'm pretty happy (or at least can live) with the mess until I can get the speakers all on the same page !

First, congrats on scoring an FV25 pair, second, wow, what a beautiful room. I would go with option 3) one in front laying down and one in back but wait, I also have an OCD problem, so I would go with option 3a) add another FV25 so you will have 2 upfront laying down and one in the back . That should do it for both look and sound

Thanks for that...very kind! I don't vacation/travel so thats my escape room. Funny thing is I thought about listing your recommendation as option 3 but I was afraid that would be the winner. Ha I'm right there with you in the OCD camp!. If I tried front and back before option 3A ....would you recommend centered on front and back wall or one side center speaker and one side of where STS currently is?

Thanks Again

That's a awesome room!! I tried them flat and standing both gave me little difference but also its because of my weird room. Try both its definitely going to take time to get it in the sweet spot by well worth it.

I'll be a copy to that addiction lol but I completely understand I know I have way more to play with and I am fine with it. This is what is fun for me I can spent hours hearing and moving lol I thought I was alone in pursuing and getting certain bass out subs which Rythmik delivered on
