Now my OCD tells me that for the sake of symmetry you need a third FV25HP to place on the left side of the room mirroring the one you have on the right side

See, I told you Enrico was OCD. The first step to a cure is admitting it...

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite...

Master and Commander plus Tron Legacy is only available on regular blu-ray, so you're fine with regular blu-ray for those. For the others, they definitely benefit from the Atmos soundtracks.

It doesn't happen until somewhere below 10Hz...below the point I normally measure. It's nice not seeing any drop all the way to the left edge of the graph

I've run it this way for so long that it's how I've come to expect it to sound.

So the big thing with BassEQ is that although your subs are capable of getting down to 10Hz like mine are as well, most movie soundtracks have low frequency filters that roll off sharply at 20 or even 30 Hz. So for those movies your subs are never playing sounds below 20 or 30 Hz because they have been filtered out by the movie soundtrack. What BassEQ does is people have created custom miniDSP EQ settings specific to each movie that creates huge boosts to the low frequency sounds in soundtracks to bring them back up to similar levels as the other frequencies in the movie. It essentially makes movies full range soundtracks. So you have to load the miniDSP settings for each individual movie when you play it and then take those settings out once the movie is done since the settings are specific to each individual movie. For example, look at Avengers Infinity War below. The dashed line is the movie soundtrack without any alteration is it would normally play. The solid line is after BassEQ settings have been applied. You can see that it significantly increases the frequencies below 20Hz, which really increases the tactile response during the movie. That's only possible with custom EQ curves for each movie plugged into a miniDSP.

How hard would it be to find those custom movie soundtracks? I noticed a noticeable difference between bluray intro in EOT and a downloaded version that Charlie (chucky7) gave me as a reference. Is has more umff to it more wall shaking at the same volume. Thankfully I also just purchased the mini dsp HD but will def be a noob in that region as well.

They are all in the BassEQ thread here:

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-s...ed-movies.html

For instructions, scroll down past the list of all of the movies to the first couple of posts in the thread. It goes into great detail explaining how to do everything. It's very simple though once you get it.

Actually, the demo clips I gave you are from the avsforum reference bass demo discs, which contain the same high def audio tracks from the source blu-rays.

An easy way to tell is checking out your AVR screen during the clips. You should see DTS-HD Master audio or Dolby TrueHD.

Speakers: L/C/R: JTR Neosis 212HT. Surrounds: Jamo C103, KEF Q100, Polk Audio RTiA3.
Subwoofer: JTR Captivator 4000ULF.
AVR: Denon AVR-X4400H. TV: Samsung UN75NU8000FXZA.

FS: Jamo C103, KEF Q100 and Polk RTiA3

Unboxed one of the F18SE's tonight and took a look at it. My god, this has to be the best looking sub I have ever seen. The 18" driver looks so badass. My girl came home from work and she said that she "loved" the way it looked, and she doesn't care if it's not as good as the other either. I will unpack the other one and begin the daunting task of integrating it.

Can’t wait to hear your impressions and how the set up looks. I’m gonna guess the F18 might be your favorite “sound” just a little less on the output side compared to the other 2 models you had.

The F18’s are some sweet looking subs no doubt!

With Rythmik subs, you know they are going to sound just as good, probably a bit better than the FV25 and as good as the G25.

I had to laugh the other day. A friend of mine came over and saw the empty box to my FV15HP that I keep out in my shop. He said "Oh, did you get a new clothes dryer"? Funny part was that he was serious.

And to top it all is that most of us consider the FV15HP to be a relatively small sub.

Standard, my OCD wouldn't allow the silver. The cones on my martin logans are black and I would want them to match. It took me an hour to line up my media center to my TV. I like things uniform

I'm the same way. I prefer the black cone. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I really like the look of my incoming Buchardt speakers with the big black waveguide.

Not sure why its uploading sideways, but its right side up on my end. Oh well, you get the idea. When final placement is done I will bust out the big boy camera.

I know in the grand scheme of things it’s meaningless but I love how the the driver fills the whole face...super cool looking!

Interesting. I've been single for a long time. Sounds like me and my two F18SE's might want to consider hosting a Tupperware party.
