Yesterday I received my Rythmik F18 subwoofer in the Netherlands

Today is the day that I will set it up correctly in my stereo and AV setup, after a first try with the settings (MiniDSP 88A + BM) of my DIY Dual Opposed 15 "subwoofer it looks very promising

There are still some things to solve out with Rythmik, but that's another story.

Greetings, Mario

I am looking to spend under 1k. the bedroom is 80% movies 20% music. the family room is about 90% movie and 10% music.
I was kind of hoping rhythmic still carried the 15 inch down firing so I wouldn't have to worry about the little one touching the cone when in the family room.

I would vote for the FVX15 if you can stretch a bit, otherwise go down to the 12. I would put the new sub wherever you listen most, probably the family room.

If you feel strongly about down firing, talk to the Rythmik folks. They can probably make it happen, if not directly they can most likely coordinate a cabinet built for you using their components.

Hello,

I have a LVX12 sitting on an isolation pad and I got some rattling when MV is high, would it better if I use spikes ? (wooden floor)

Thank you

Others will chime in, but from what I’ve read “spikes” are for carpet floors. I have a Rythmik F12G, on a Aurelex platform, on wooden floor, no issues. Perhaps it’s the low frequencies themselves causing issue, you didn’t specify what was rattling.

Rattling can be caused by mechanical coupling or sound waves. Going from a pad to spikes would increase coupling if anything, so that would make the issue worse if that was the cause.

However I would assume sound waves are the cause and your best bet would be to find what's rattling and remove or better secure those objects. Pads can be attached to the backs of things hanging on walls to reduce noise.

I had several doors rattling and put a couple of inches of insulation rubber strip along the door jam. I have a bit left over, about 10 life times worth

Now that is interesting. Were I to do this, the L12 and the F12 would be driven by the single sub out channel of the NAD T758 connected by an RCA splitter. They could be placed the same distance from the listening position.

Actually spikes are for hard surface, to decouple the speaker/sub from the floor and do nothing on carpet. Vibration from a cabinet, is like water/electricity or an explosion. It will take the path of the lowest resistance, from the biggest area to the point of the spike/outrigger. An Aurelex platform, work as a good thick carpet. While my three front speakers are on spikes/outrigger on carpet, it is more for a look thing.

For the rattling, it can be cause by many things within the room. Since many different lower frequencies, can have an exciting mode that will make a wall/ceiling and any object nearby to rattles. I have spend many hours, chasing those objects. And where my walls/ceiling, needed extra drywall screws to fix mine.

Not really, most spikes come with a small plate to be put on a hard floor and can be use also use on carpet (but never do). And when going through carpet, it take many years to settle at the bottom of the floor. Unless you have a really thin carpet.

Spikes are for carpet.

They will dig into your hard floor. That is what the little plates are for.

No issues with my spiked speaker stands, they went right through my average home carpet.

I also had no issues at all with my outriggers. And had some for last 20 years or so.
Sound wise, I found they made a difference on hard floor with those little plate.
Night and day, No very subtle. Just removing some vibrations from the cabinet, been couple to the floor.
On a carpet, I find the speaker/sub made no difference at all.

~7 years ago I purchased a D15SE. Unsurprisingly, I have some issues with uneven bass response in my room. I've been kicking myself for years for not buying a second one before they stopped selling them. I don't really care about the difference in appearance. However, the subs sold today have a different driver, and a higher power amp. If I were to buy a F15HP, how hard would it be to integrate into my HT? And if I'm already buying a different sub, is there any reason not to buy something like the F18? All hypothetical, of course.

Trying to understand what the settings really do

All combinations (close range measurements) with the low cutoff's and MF bass extension filters (limiter / rumble in off position)

Think I go for the 12Hz medium setting, red line 4th from top.

Click on the picture twice to get a higher resolution.

Decided to continue with the 12Hz / MF Medium setting, following is the differences between the Limiter and Rumble filters.

We do not live independently, so we continue with the Rumble and Limiter filter on, which looks like this.

Hi Greg, if you are built like your Avatar picture. I can see that

But some of us look more like this

That said, at 128lb. I was able to move my two PB13-Ultra around, by sliding one corner at the time. With the subs weighting 150lb
When I get my two FV18. I may use my hand truck, or go back to old slide system on my carpet.
