Look like a wonderful space

Thanks for the info. I need a lot of advice. As you said, this is not a dedicated theater room.

After a week of not having any delicious Rythmik sound I am back...running all 4 of these beasts. Back to having a wall of sound. Tackled mini-dsp and time aligned them. Had to add 7MS to the Rythmiks to compensate for the DSP in the JTR's. I was able to get a pretty flat response curve with all 4 subs. Watching a few movies tonight to break it in. Silver lining with the bad weather is that I got to spend about 6 hours on my setup and dial it in....COME ON WEEKEND!

What are your main front three speakers? Assume they are new.

I met a guy from Milan-Italy who came to pick up a central Proac channel I had for sale. We started talking about equipment and our experiences with audio equipment and asked me what subs I have. I told him I owe a pair of Rythmik audio F12Se which are now playing with my ML Impression 11. Obviously he had no idea who or what Rythmik is. Just a week later he sends me photo and a video of his F12 300. "Best sub ever". His words not mine. I think that I may become an ambassador for the brand here in Italy...

L and R are JTR Noesis 212RT and the C is a JTR Noesis 210RM. Actually my signature has pretty much everything I added recently, should be up to date.

They are very good, and get very very loud with almost no distortion. I am sure I gave up some quality in piano music and opera/jazz but I don't listen to that stuff too often. EDM/electronic music simply unreal on them. For the price they are pretty hard to beat, they actually match up to Rythmik subs very very well.

Well, no movie for me this weekend, in my every two week option to watch a movie
Sold both of my previous subs today, and will be pickup tomorrow for a new good home

Since shipment is due to ship Dec 2th, for those of us with pre-order. It is only a matter of a few weeks from now
One week to setup, once I got them installed/calibrated. Then Enjoy

They are very different sound signatures. I will say this...for my music only setup I am only running the Rythmiks. Having all 4 for movies is pretty amazing though, the JTR's add some weight to the low end. It is too early to really say much about comparing them. Blending them and getting a flat response was far easier than I had anticipated. I have a very flat response curve with all 4. Been giving a few demos lately for people, had a fellow AVS'er over tonight to have a listen. I am at risk of becoming a full blown hermit with this setup, so much fun!

What kind of graphs are you looking to see? I level matched them and then time aligned the subs, then I used the minidsp to eq them to almost a dead flat frequency response. They sound totally different. I am only running the Rythmiks for music because they have no delay my mac pre doesn't account for distance, and I only like an accurate amount of bass for music, not overwhelming. For movies all 4 is an experience. I will try running them a bit hotter today to see what it sounds like. Comparing these 2 subs is probably out of my skill set, they are both very damn good subs.

Considering they won't be ready until mid next year, I will use this setup until then. I do have to say though the combo of JTR and Rythmik is quite nice. It gives me a nice weighty low bass sound with a very snappy sharp mid bass. JW3 was absolutely amazing sounding. The shotguns don't sound nearly as authoritative with just the Rythmiks, the JTR's added a lot to the experience. This is also my first attempt at setting this combo up, I will most likely test a few more configurations to see what I like best. So far, music and movies sound very good.

I sure hope it's not mid next year? If that's the case there's no way I'm waiting. I was told tentatively March or April. I'm so anxious to start building a system, even the thought of March/April is hurting my head. I've been waiting years to find a house and then build a system. The time is finally here and now my desire to have what I consider the best, within my budget, is going to keep my head spinning.

The LCR's I'm most interested in aren't out yet either. I have high hopes for them and think they'll match up very well with Rythmik, due to their sealed configuration (rare for a 3 way tower) and high priority on articulate accuracy. They'll be out by years end (I'm hoping) and waiting on subs is going to be very tough but if March is a possibility, I'll wait for sure. No clue on surrounds.

C'mon Brian D, I'm rooting for you.

From John L. - The L7 will probably get a 92db rating as a 6 ohm system, maybe 4 ohms. It's made of two sections of 8 ohms apiece - bass and mid - but the impedance magnitude dips to 3.5 ohms in the hundreds. This is hardly unusual, but it tends to steer away from an 8 ohm rating, even with the two 8 ohm sections making up most of the load. Impedance crosses 6 ohms at 1kHz so I could use that spec and rate accordingly but maybe 4 is more expected.

At any rate, the load phase angle is moderate and while I'd recommend a good high current amplifier of maybe 150w, nobody's going to have trouble driving them. As a test I managed to clip a 15w regulated tube amp (before I realized just how loud they were going) so I wouldn't recommend micro-power amps as the first choice, even with the 92dB initial loudness.

Hi Jeff,

I most be very special, on mine end. It show I got two "like" from you
Never saw this error from this site before

On a more serious note, today was a very good day for me. I sold my subs, and two previous older AVP. And I thought, no one else use separate AVP/amps and like Audio in this town. And Glad to be proven wrong

Same here

Load wise, it can swig so much it should not be funny

While this book, is expensive. Lots can be learn, and took me a year to read (small print, 460 pages). And intend to read-it a second time.

And might be of lot's of interest to you

I'm not quite that into it, or at least not right now at this point. I've seen that book mentioned before and I'll admit it seems very interesting, but I have other things going on right now (bought a house) I need to research. I'm going to rely on people like you to make sure I'm not setting up a system that doesn't make any sense at all. I just want something that sounds amazing to ME.

Darth, you do realize I'm not the author of any of that audio jargon written in the previous post?

I'm researching robot vacuums, (Roomba 7+ will be my choice), refrigerators, ovens, home exterior to replace stucco, first gen pro touring Camaro's, which gym I'm going to join, taking care of the third puppy I just rescued, and the list goes on. A/V equip is in there as well, but not really to the point where I'm going to read a book on audio engineering. No offence at all Darth, I hope this doesn't come off that way. I'm just laying out some of what's on my plate right now.

I do appreciate the suggestion nonetheless. Thank you, Brian

Rythmik F8 Dual 8" Sub vs. F12G Sub

Does anyone have any experience comparing the relative strengths and weaknesses, or sound characteristics of the F12G vs the F8 sub?

I own one F12G, but I've considered purchasing two F8 subs - mostly because of their greater WAF appeal over the square F12G.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Michael

I can't compare to the F12 but I own dual F8's. I agree that the taller (non-square) look is more appealing. I have the subs located on either side of my entertainment stand and I sit about 9-10 feet away. There are times I would like a little more "thump" for movies but, even at -20 db volume, I will get some movement in my seat during bass heavy scenes. I found that using the floor spikes is the key to getting tactile response from the F8's. I had used SVS isolation feet previously and it killed virtually all the tactile sensation. For music, the F8's are perfect and I really would not want more bass.

Not only cleaner bass but perfect tactile energy as well is what I got when adding spikes to my F18 as well

Never saw this error from this site before

On a more serious note, today was a very good day for me. I sold my subs, and two previous older AVP. And I thought, no one else use separate AVP/amps and like Audio in this town. And Glad to be proven wrong

Darth
Well then! That deserves two likes and two thumbs up
