You raise a good question. My FVX12 subs seemed to have inappropriately short power cords. They couldn't have been more than 3 or 4' long. It limited places I could try the subs.

I keep a couple of extra long power cables on hand for setup purposes, but once I determine where the subs will be located, I use power cables that are the perfect length (same with RCA cables). Stayonline.com is a great resource for power cables with any length and orientation you would ever need. I even get the right angle ends that turn the direction I want.

Cable management is MUCH easier when all the cables are the perfect length.

@@Rythmik ; would changing the power cord to an aftermarket one to get longer length void the warranty?

i would love to have a longer power cord to open up my placement options

I ordered my fv25hp w/12ft cord. think rythmik said they sourced my 12ft cord from parts express for 5 dollars extra or something.

It won't void the warranty. I use a 12' 14AWG power cord with one of my G22 subwoofers. Just make sure to get a 14AWG and you should be OK.

Do you have in-your-room measurements on your v3600? Similar to the v3600, the v3612 is a 20ish hz tuned sub so you will not gain extension.
Going with either the FV18 or FV25, you gain tremendous extension (almost one octave) while maintain the midbass, so you will have more weight/TR and fuller sound though out the entire bass spectrum.

Since you are within driving distance to Austin, it is a no brainier to go with Rythmik. Pick it up and save shipping charge ($200 or more?).

Since I'm the only person in Texas without an SUV or pickup, I will have to wait for it to be delivered. I hope to have informative observations to post next week.

Which Rythmik cone material is considered best for MUSIC?

(I realize this question has probably been discussed many times before on this forum, but I have never been able to figure out the answer. I admit that I can be rather lame-brained...)

I might order a longer power cord in case I need to pull the right sub out without unplugging it (it is barely long enough with the sub in place). Would an inexpensive 8' cord from Monoprice be okay?
I'm certainly not speaking for Rythmik, but one thing I noticed about the power cords for the FV15HP's I recently received is that the power cords are quite heavy gauge...not all of them are. So I would simply make sure the cord you order is a heavier than standard gauge otherwise you are likely to end up with a thin power cord. The Rythmik amps have a very strong power supply that I would assume can pull a pretty strong continuous current. So personally, I would make sure its not a thin cheapy cord.

Edit, nvm, I see answered already. This reminds me I need a longer power cord for one of mine. Using an extension cord currently Ok, ordering a new cable.

Good call on the BJC cables, they're great.

I would venture to guess that the paper cone is best for music. The paper cone delivers 3 db more output at 50Hz and above with the Rythmik FV18.

I was thinking aluminum cone is preferred for music to minimize distortion and the paper cone is best for HT.

First congratulation on your F18s.

For the power cord, it should be just fine. As long it is either the same or bigger gauge (AWG) than the original power cord, and the end match your sub.
If in no rush, I got two extra 10fts one. That is 14awg heavy duty and shielded, that I can send one to you at no cost on your part you

If interested, send me a PM with your name and full address. I could send it by the week-end, but it would be ship by Canada/US post. Using the standard shipping, to reduce my shipping cost.

It is also open to you for the second one

The paper cone brings with it a slight increase in distortion. I haven't read about anyone complaining about the increased distortion with music. Remember all the Rythmik subs use the servo to reduce distortion. The Rythmik FV18 paper cone continues to be sold-out, almost as soon as Rythmik gets them in (stock).

That is exactly why I asked the question about how critical of a music listener he was. Most people will not even notice any added warmth to the sound

Unfortunately, I don’t. I’ve been meaning to get a Umik-1, but haven’t gotten around to it.

Would the FV25HP be able to match the decibel output of my V3600I at 20+ hz?

At some point curiosity is going to get the best of me and I'm going to have to throw a pair of 1.5's on the stands to demo with the Buchardts and another impulse-buy speaker designed by Paul Barton that is incoming...would be fun

In the world of audio, there is no such thing as "best". How's that for a non answer? The reality is that it depends. For someone that is more of a critical listener that is interested in the most accurate reproduction of the source material, I would say the aluminum cone would be the better choice. For someone that likes to listen loud and will benefit from the extra 3db of mid bass headroom, the paper cone is likely the right option.

My guess is that in a blind comparison, most of us wouldn't be able to tell them apart as Brian wouldn't have made the paper cone available if he didn't meet his high standards for sound quality.

Electronics: Denon X4400, Vizio M65
Sub: Rythmik FV18-PC x 2
Speakers: 3 x Chane A2.4 LCR, DIYSG Volt-6 Surrounds

most big rythmik subs will outperform peoples front speaker setup by alot. my subs in large space can do mid 120db's...my lrs cant break a 100db and my focals low 100db's....so my subs can be boosted 25+db over my fronts....thats very lopsided sound for music.

Would the FV25HP be able to match the decibel output of my V3600I at 20+ hz?
There is no way to know that as PSA subs do not get tested. The FV25HP was one pf the most powerful subs tested by data-bass. Check out the numbers at data-bass and remember those are at 2m outside
