Not looking good. Apparently, emailing xtzsound.us isn't really their USA division. Olle replies to this one. I reached out a couple of times via the email chain I received from the original invoice the past couple of days and Olle did finally reply today. He stated they informed their "partner" and can do no more. He gave me an email with some guys name in it @Radiant delivers.com. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Wow, man. That sucks. And then there are people who thinks customer service to be a secondary aspect. Hope it gets solved very soon, I feel your pain.

Yeah Radiant is the shipping company. Call them and ask them when they'll be shipping it out. I had to do the same. Their receptionist isn't the friendliest either.

So radiant was the shipper for your 3X12? The 1X12 I received came FedEx.

He informed their "partner" and can do no more. This is just not acceptable. I am sorry to hear this and hope it all works out for you soon. I think I made the correct decision to pass on buying the 3X12 when it was on the recent demo sale.

Nothing new to report. This would be like Tom V of PSA saying he's contacted his partner and there's nothing else he can do. That's what I've been told by company owner Olle. That's basically all I've been told all week and I have no idea what measures will be taken if and when some action actually does initiate. Buying from a foreign company is probably not something I will do again.

Here's what I received this morning.

Hi
The warhouse parter is working on it, I hope they will reply you very soon.

At least you're getting better customer service from them than I did lol. Pretty sad huh? It bothered me because I was planning on getting dual 3x12's and their M6 series speakers for L,C,R...but after my experience it completely turned me off. And some ppl even had the audacity to say I was overreacting lol smh.

My 3x12 is great, that it is. But I don't think I'll be keeping it, I just don't wanna dread that future process.

I also received my 1x12 via fed ex- no problem , though as usual they are a little more rough on the box that UPS. The scale of the box weight of 1x12 vs 3x12 is an order of magnitude I would imagine necessitating perhaps a bulk shipper; this is alwasy more problematic than FEdEX UPS, DHL, etc.

That said, I can confirm the 1x12 is an excellent 12 inch product. , JL, SVS 4000, Velodyne are better in sound (though not build/finish). I do not have direct experience in the same room/setup with JTL,Rhythmic or PSA; it’s superior to Hsu IMO. Its definitely better than SVS 2000, and that is its price point.

Really a shame they are having these service problems in US. At $1000 and below this is a very very competative product with a very high WSF.

Jim -I would be most interested to see how you (Jim Wilson/Jman ) would assess the 3x12 versus the 15-18 inch products I know hes tested from PSA, Rhythmik and JTL. You also need to try to get a test done ARendals larger dual (models 2 and 3) woofers as well - I heard them in Europe and they are easily competitive with the best 13.5- 15 inch woofers Ive heard from ANY producer in USA or REL, and I was not surprised to see them best SVS,REL,XTZ,Monitor BW etc in a shootout done by the Scandinavian journal Bilde & Linde earlier this year.

Man, that would be tough to do at this point. Over the years I have been able to evaluate quite a number of products in that range so there's a lot to draw from. Output wise I know the 3x12 can hang with pretty much any benchmark sub you'd care to mention (in a similar price range of course). The size was a bit much for me though as it dominated my living room, but that won't be the case for everyone. It had a sound more like a Rythmik than some of the others you mention which, depending upon your viewpoint, could be a good thing or a bad thing. The current $1500 price makes it very tempting but some of the issues I'm seeing are a cause for pause. Other than that - and perhaps the size - there's little not to like about the 3x12.

I did have them on my radar for a while but I never followed through on a request for some reason. It seems their primary distribution is in EU with anything outside being a "call us to make arrangements" type of deal. It still might be feasible. Some of their stuff does look interesting, and I do like unique.

What price range are you referring to? $1,500? $2,500?

I just read Josh Ricci's review again on these and they sound like monsters and Josh thought they were a good value at $2500. At $1500 they seem like a screaming bargain, but the shipping and communication challenges would be a concern. At $1500 I would be very tempted..

From interactions so far it seems like Olle does not work weekends. I would contact them by phone or chat and let them know you plan to dispute.

I did get an initial response from Olle last Sunday, which surprised me. Anyway, I'm getting tired of the cat and mouse game and really don't understand why absolutely nothing has been done or even suggested to be done in a week. I'm also not sure what the "warehouse partner" is working on that makes it where they can't even do as little as contact me with some type of information when Olle originally said they would resolve this on Monday. He shouldn't be telling me that if he apparently has absolutely no control over the situation.

No damage to my cinema series

Geo just wanted to pass on that I received my cinema series m6 LCR and s5's on Friday and had no problem with damage. One box had a small cut but other than that all speakers were intact and packed well. FedEx was the shipper. I have not had a chance to wire them up yet and listen to them. My only concern was that each M6 box was labeled "new tweeter", not sure what to make of that. I will send Ollie an email to find out.

Was considering purchasing the 3x12 but hesitant after reading what Mix Master is going through. My communication with Olie during the purchasing process was very good.

heh- most vendors are stellar with communicating during the purchasing phase. (*most*)

it’s how well they communicate when things go wrong it’s telling.

Following MMI’s case, and it seems like Ollie washed his hands of it as soon as things went south....

I'm jealous! I was really interested in that M6 LCR and going dual 3x12 but that flew out the window real fast once I had my experience with them.

Did you get it when the 30% off sale was going? XTZ makes great products, too bad they don't try harder in the Customer Service dept.

XTZ updated the tweeter recently and it was their way of identifying the new models. Mine said the same thing.

It's a THX guideline. You will notice that turning the knob fully counter-clockwise will click. That click is not OFF, but rather THX input level (1V RMS). Where the gain knob is labeled 0dB seems to be identical to the THX setting. 0dB is 12:00 on the XTZ but closer to 2:00 on the Monoprice. THX/0dB is the recommended setting. Start here and increase if necessary.

You do not want this set too high. The limiter is very good but it can still negatively affect the bass if gain is set too high. You want the limiter to just be starting to engage with the highest peaks, not engaging at all times. I need to monitor the LED to determine if it illuminates when the limiter engages. Has anyone observed this?

I have my gain at 9 o'clock on the 3x12 to spl level match the v1801. I haven't come close to pushing it hard enough I think for the limiter to go off.
Also, it's on the back of the sub so i couldn't see it even if it did.

Looks like I purchased the last Sub 1x12 demo. Pretty excited! Hopefully they will further refine their US distribution and have more deals like this in the future so I can potentially add another 1x12 to the setup.

They need to do a lot more than "refine" their US distribution. I guess that rules out getting a replacement. I still haven't heard anything on my damaged 1X12.

Hi,

I'm sure that you have already thought of this, especially considering how many subwoofers you have bought over the years. But, it may be getting close to the time to challenge the transaction on your credit card. I don't know whether you still want a replacement 1X12 at this point, or whether you just want to be out from under the transaction.

In either case, challenging the transaction should at least get their attention, and if it still doesn't, then so be it. Get your money back and let your situation serve as a warning to others. I might also send them a link to the last few pages to let them see what this is doing to their potentially best customer base. I used to recommend XTZ subwoofers to European customers, but I don't know that I would recommend them right now to any US customers.

Regards,
Mike

I did open a case with Paypal on Wednesday, hoping it might speed up the process. XTZ has never responded to the case on Paypal. I guess this Wednesday I will escalate it to a claim/dispute. I really hate that it has to come to this, but it's absurd that I've received ZERO information on how this will be handled or when. There seems to be a complete disconnect with XTZ in Europe and their operations in America.
