that is about how hot I run mine...4-6db hot is average. you could even try 0 on the sub trim and run a full 6db hot.

don't do that it's the wrong approach...not every gain dial is exactly the same when you have multiple subs...the way I told you is correct. Level match each sub, run audyssey, -6 after cal is about perfect and nets you 6db of adjustment without going past 0. You want to use the AVR sub trim as it is much more precise then adjusting the amp gain dials after calibration.

Yep sure does...the only way to reduce ringing is by smoothing the response without eq. The only way to do that is to change placement and more then likely add more subs. This is why multiple subs are always better then a single when properly setup.

Just a side note, look for two mint low usage hours V1800s in the outlet. I've never had a single issue with these subs, auto on worked every time with no glitches, no scratches or blems and the grill covers have been in storage since I bought them. The feet were never used as I made custom sliders that screwed on the bottom of cab for easy placement positions. Sorry for the rambling, it's like I'm trying to make a sale here

You're right Jeff, looks like I'll be heading up there on Saturday. Let me know if you are going on Saturday for certain and maybe we can try and get there around the same time.

That's fine. I run my V3600's 9 dB hot. Audyssey sets the trim at -9.5 and I bumped them up to -0.5.

So where do you set the sub gain for calibration? Audyssey asks for it to be set at 50%, I end up with max -12 when i do that. So i turned my gain down to 25% and ran calibration again and ended up at -3. I left the AVR as is and bumped the sub gain up to 50% . I'm only running one sub.

There is no set number, set it, run Audyssey...if it is at the max, turn the sub gain down a bit and run audyssey again. Just run a 1 point calibration and adjust the sub gain until you get -6 ~ -10 db, then run a full calibration.

So if you want more bass than the calibration sets to you add it at the AVR or the sub? Or both? Thanks, seems like I'm on the right track, all new to me.

Just wanted to chime in and say my new V1801 is up and running strong. Just curious what people think average break in time for new drivers is? I've had the V1801 going for about 5 hours now and it seems to already be opening up a bit. (sorry no pictures of the sub, a bit dark for that now). The speaker stands happen to be milk crates which we were coincidentally just the right height to get the tweeters ear level. Being 27 with speakers that cost this much still seems a little silly sometimes so I'm ok with the milk crates :P

Aren't bass traps another option? I'm currently working with GIK to put together a treatment package.

bass traps do very little for frequencies below 80 or so hz unless you are going to line the entire room over foot thick.

So heads up for anyone also thinking of upgrading from a 12" sealed sub to the V1801... there is a slight difference in size that you may have underestimated when simply looking at the dimensions online.

I suppose this will be a modest upgrade from the SB-2000.

Hey guys,
Anyone on here go from 2 subs to 4? Was wondering if there is a huge improvement in bass or is it more for smoothing and making the subs work less? I have 2 PSA 3600I's and was thinking of getting 2 more and putting one in each corner

Thanks

4 subs can effectively smooth all room modes with no EQ when properly placed. So yes 4 subs are better then 2, just like 2 subs are better then 1. However, Once you get past 4 subs diminishing returns starts setting in fast. I only have 3 subs, but 3 was better then 2 for smoothing out the response.

I don't know if you guys play videos games much (I rarely do) but I found some crazy low content in the game fallout 4 on ps4. Any time your wearing "power armor" and you jump off something kinda high the results are crazy! There has to be powerful 10hz ish stuff there if I had to guess. The fun part is you can just do it over and over lol

Anyway for all you guys with those new "01" toys you should try it out if you have the game

Multiple subs can indeed smooth the frequency response, but a smooth response won't always mean less ringing. I've done exactly that before trying to integrate two dissimilar subs (ported and sealed). Achieved a great looking spl response but terrible looking waterfall.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

I know its probably better to have all 4 of the same subs correct? Im thinking of running a pair of V1500's with a pair of SVS PC-12+ if I end up with enough room .... I may be able to sell the PC's and get another pair of V15's..

Anyway for all you guys with those new "01" toys you should try it out if you have the game

Well obviously you need to start with quality subs that are the same alignment...Thought that was a given.

I definitely suggest checking out Titanfall 2. I'm almost scared to fire it up with the S1801.
