I bought this Sony UHD player earlier this year just to move up to 4K to get Atmos track playback on 4K discs while staying with 1080p screens for a few more years until massive 4K TVs and projectors come down in price, not sure it was worth $300 just for the ability to play the HD tracks but for $150 that’s a great price! It has a few minor quarks compared to my last Sony Blu-ray player, but I’d buy it at $150 all day long.

Also, the Sony is fast at loading discs and content, and it will stream anything you might need. I have a Vizio smart TV, a Roku TV, Amazon Fire sticks, and Apple TV and streaming video on the Sony Player is faster than all but the Apple TV (which costs more than this entire Blu-ray player priced this low) at loading menus, content, etc.
You answered my next question which was going to be about load times. I'm in a similar situation where i don't plan on upgrading to 4k for a couple years but I would like to have atmos playback on 4k disc. I use my Oppo 103 alot for sacd, dvd-a and blu ray audio so i'm glad to see this Sony can play all the above with the ability to stream.

You just sold me on the player thank you .

I love that everyone thought the same thing when they saw the XV15 Baseplate......Basshead81!

I personally think the XV15 Baseplate model is the best looking out of the 15" subs offered by PSA

I just joined the PSA family. S3000i ships tomorrow.

HT subs went from Polk 505 to Outlaw X12 to PSA S3000i. Room is a dedicated 24x14x7 basement HT.

Right now I'm actually using a Rythmik F12 from my music system in the space that the s3000i will occupy. Should be a decent upgrade.

Will post again when I've had time to tinker with things.

Great choice and welcome to the PSA family. You may need two of those subs on that space though. Anyways let us know if you need help and your impressions.

Congrats and welcome Scott.C.McMahon! Big time game changer coming up to a PSA from the Polk 505.
Nothing wrong with the 505 owning 2 of them, but these PSA subs are monsters

2. SUBWOOFER LEVEL ADJUST: OFF, Use on the remote, Options> Channel Level Adjust, sets trim levels for speakers and sub.

3. MULTQ XT32, try both Reference and Flat and see what you prefer, flat for music, reference for movies, I like flat for all, just me though.

4. SPEAKERS/ CONFIGURATION: Set all speakers to small not matter how capable they are, try it please.

5. SPEAKERS/CROSSOVERS: Set all your speakers to 80Hz regardless of the size and extension capabilities, especially your height speakers, you could even experiment with your LCR at 100Hz and let the sub do all that frequency range up to the crossover point.

NOTES:
LFE+MAIN is like double bass plus you have the mains at 40 Hz, right there could be the distortion cause. Another contributor could be the Subwoofer Level Adjust, shut that feature to off and use the manual speaker settings to raise the trim settings.
You said you raised the Audy set trim level from -11dB to -5dB, that's an extra 6dB hot plus you have the Subwoofer Level Adjust to on and 0dB, what that means now is that -6dB hot trim setting that you changed from -11dB that Audy set to -5dB is now -6dB + -5dB (SLA Value of 0dB equates to another -5dB) so now you're running the 7201 11dB hot with LFE+MAINS and crossover set to 40 Hz............This is your problem with the distortion, it's just less noticeable with the sub's cavities facing the ceiling.

Go into those receiver settings you posted which I numbered 1-5 and put the settings in I suggested and leave the sub trim at what you originally set it to -5dB from Audy value -11dB, I'll bet you hear a marked improvement with the sub facing you on the floor or in either L or R corner. I like the idea of you putting your equipment rack in the opposite corner of where your sub is, I guess you got that idea from my TT rack? I honestly believe with the 7201 facing towards the ceiling with your TV so close could and will damage it, beware and hope all this helps, it really should. The way you have the receiver settings you're neutering the sub's performance, seriously. You should notice a significant sound upgrade after you run Audy and use the settings suggested. Let us know.
+1,000,000 to Jeff's great advice here. If Rolls Troyce follows this advice, he should immediately hear a DRAMATIC difference.

Rolls Troyce, I highly would recommend that you read the Audyssey 101 and FAQ that are linked in my sig. Audyssey is a fickle mistress and you need to treat her right if you want to get the most from your investment.

Thank you Alan for the compliment, the more I read about his bass problems with the 7201 I firmly believed it was not a room issue nor a sub failure. I had the pleasure of owning the 7201 for a couple of months and I know what that sub is capable of out of the box un EQ'd. I felt compelled to offer the advice I did, he has a bit of money tied up in his gear and not getting the most performance out of that system is just sad. I remember him saying that this was all new to him as well. I hope he takes the advice and I believe he will be pleasantly surprised and thrilled with the sound.

Here's some graphs I took with a one mic position calibration after just putting the 7201 in the right corner, nothing else. Good advice with Audy 101 reco even if you already have the experience.

I figure: the Rythmik is a sealed 12" with 370RMS. The PSA is 2 - 15s with 1700RMS. It had BETTER be enough.

It should be plenty lol....I have been using dual S3601s tucked into the corner of my 30x30x8 room and the what-if kept running thru my mind about adding a S3000i nearfield? Although I could do it , it just would seem to be wasteful at the moment considering there are other things I want to do around the house. I have plenty of headroom and boom! I was watching Sully the other day off DirectTv (yuck to the sound) , and on the S36 I have next to the couch I have a bookshelf surround that weighs an easy 20lbs on top of it. When a certain scene hit, the couches went nuts and the bookshelf just scooted right along the dang top of the S36! I know things vibrating and falling off isnt a testament to sound quality , but kinda gives an idea to the power! Oh....and I also love the sound

Hi all,

I seem to luck into a few well done under the radar films on prime every now and then. Thought I might as well share them as we're all movie lovers in one way or another. Now, don't expect a 10hz sine wave or the next "the seventh seal" or anything...but just solid overall efforts..

I will miss them and they need a kind audio soul to do right by them!

Bring on the MTM-210T!
I contacted Tom about these yesterday after seeing your post.
Tom responded, gave me details, and had a custom listing for me within 15 minutes.
FedEx had the speakers a few hours later and I'll have them in a day or two.

This is my second PSA purchase (I bought a b-stock V1500 in August 2017). I just wanted to bring this up as another testament to the customer service I've experience with PSA.

Note: I'm moving up from a pair of Polk RtiA5 mains. I also purchased a set of SVS Ultra Bookshelf (outlet) speakers this week, so I'll have the chance hear them next to the MT-110's.

Sony XBR940D, Denon X3300W, L/R PSA MT-110, PSA MTM-210C, PSA V1500, Polk FXiA6 Surrounds

Congrats. The Svs ultra bookshelves are very good but the PSA will be a step up in terms of clarity and soundstage. They will work wonderfully with that PSA sub you have.

I want to read your thoughts about that comparison!

I have the RTIA9's and have thought about trying those too.

Your going to love the Mt-110's. I went from some Definitive Technology studio monitors/pc2000 to the Mt-110 lcr and holy guacamole what a difference!
The amount of depth, clarity and impact, along with crystal clear detail is something to behold. Honestly.
With the Def Techs it was like wearing sunglasses at night, with the Mt-110's it's like staring directly at the sun! Lol

Polk RTI-A series is good, I have owned A7, A3, and heard the A5 & A9, but they are not on the PSA speaker level.

Thanks for this Tom! Not sure how Young Ones got under my radar because I pretty much watch anything with Michael Shannon in it. I am looking forward to checking it out!

The Girl With All the Gifts was outstanding! Saw it about a year ago.

Going to check out that short film too.

I've had a busy few days!

I tried your suggestions and still got the same distortion. I also agree that the sub is causing the TV picture issues from the TV being in the middle of the opening and am trying Tom's advice to properly mat it against vibrations; however, I am leaning towards building a corner cabinet to match the S7201 and just putting the cabinet in one corner and the sub in the other. I'll put all of my components in that cabinet. I don't want to as I really wanted it front center and facing but at this point there is absolutely nothing I can do to prevent distortion from that position other than dropping the bass down to the point that I could achieve it with 1 smaller sub.
