You never really realize your own strength until you are trying to sneak in a 135llb sub into your house! The pallet had boxes for the S3000i and also something else I didnt realize , how damn heavy those wooden cardboard pallets are! I lifted one of the old ones above my head and onto a space in my garage. It really caught me offguard. It looks light , but probably weighs 50lbs.
I unboxed the 3601 , threw it on the hand truck and wheeled it inside and replaced the S3000i. I covered the S3000i with the new 3601 box and retreated back inside to some AC , it was around 95 yesterday. I looked at the clock and it said 3:30 , I was like "Man that was easy , lets play with the new one real quick!!" Listened to it by itself , turned the other 36's on , went thru some normal Youtube music yadda yadda and then it happened!
I see someone walking up to the door on camera and since the camera lags , by the time I realized who it was , the door was already opening!! I froze , put the phone to the side , held my breath , and acted as cool as possible while dripping sweat as she walked in! She asked why I was all sweaty , of course my answer of "I was watching COPS..." didnt go over too well. Her suspicion gauge was at FULL WOMAN , a few more questions of "What time you leave work? Are you selling speakers? Only time you mess with the speakers is when you are going to sell them!" A quick run to the rooms to check the closets , at this point and time , another woman would be easier to explain...I kept getting side-eye and im just sitting there looking at the TV with my mouth open like a caveman trying to keep conversation to a minimum. Finally after another question I broke! I was like , "Cant you tell this sub is new?" It was followed by a " You [email protected]#@$R , I knew you were up to something!!! How much did this cost!!?? ITS MY BIRTHDAY NOT YOURS!"
So all in all , I had to cave in to a Thanksgiving cruise to the Nassau and some other Bahama islands. I was putting up resistance mainly because I dont like to fly. Funny , put me in an F-18 and im happier than a pig in slop , throw me in a commercial airliner , I need to drink....Oh well.....Ill have to get more impressions of the 3 S36's later....
... wait, hang on...... your punishment for buying a third S3601 is a cruise to the Bahamas??? Oh you poor bugga!

Ahhh. I don't think the new TCL models have come out yet? And the TCL's tend to have more features that Vizio leaves out. I also preferred the TCL picture over Vizio's even though the specs say otherwise. Kinda like audio specs do when comparing sometimes.

I sent the above message via cell phone but for some reason it did not go through?

I thought that was a kids balance bike scrolling past the photo the first time. Judging by the pile of tires, I’m not the only one here with several money pit hobbies. MTB can make home theater look downright affordable.

You’ll probably need to invest a few bucks in rubber cabinet bumpers / felt pads. Those V3601 are going to rattle things loose you didn’t know existed.

Damn dude. My buddy has that sub too. When I got my V3601 I was shocked at the difference in output. That was comparing 1 vs 1, let alone 2 vs 2. Heres a tip: If you have any pictures on the walls within about 20 feet, take them down

The r-115 is actually one of those rare breeds---a solid value from a big brand name. At the full $899 pricing, meh. Not bad but you can do better. But at the discounted $499-599 pricing we see a few times a year? It's a real contender. The vtf-2 at $600 is king <$600 but the klipsch15 is very similar overall. At the same pricing I'd still go Hsu because the customer support/tech support you'll get is top notch. But at $499 for the klipsch, man that's a good sub at <$500.

But the V3601 is, i mean, you're at like four r-115s for each v3601. So I can't wait until we hear back from the OP..

For some reason those look like 80% of actual size in this shot.. Maybe the bike is unusually enormous? I dunno, just something doesn't look quite right.

I want these sooo bad. If only my room was bigger. No issues spending the bucks as the performance deserves it.

Also, for anyone wondering why there's been an unusual number of missed phone calls and chats the last couple weeks it is because I've been alone in the office/warehouse for the large majority of time. Jim and our shop manager have been bustin butt next door. So I'm often at the dock door 100ft away from the phones, or juggling 100 other balls when the phone rings and I just can't get to it(sorry!). I'm still keeping up with emails though!

Bringing all amplifier assembly in house was a huge achievement for Power Sound but we're hardly satisfied.

I have a 18' x 16.5' x 10' (~3,000 ft3) room. Dedicated, closed off, and to be sound treated. Liking various things I'm reading about PSA subs and the company. Looking for a 7.2.4 setup.

Would buy 2 subs for the room, no duals or whatnot though. I'm curious what folks recommend in terms of size (15" vs. 18") and sealed vs. ported with PSA?

Thanks!

Love my dual 15Vs, which are ported. A pair of those would pressurize your room with ease. You might go 18” if you listen at crazy high SPLs or want the highest output at the lowest frequencies.

Tom and PSA are a outstanding company to work with, which is a strong reason to go with PSA over others. Good luck!

You can get a very good picture quality out of a $600 or so projector and a $2-$300 screen. If retractable, get tab tensioned to avoid wrinkles. Check TheWireCutter for projector suggestion. You can have 100-120” screen with great picture for far less than a decent 65” TV

Would buy 2 subs for the room, no duals or whatnot though. I'm curious what folks recommend in terms of size (15" vs. 18") and sealed vs. ported with PSA?

Thanks!

My room would be similar ft3 to yours and I have 2 x XS15SE's (sealed). I haven't done the measurements, but when chatting with Tom V. to decide, he felt that I could possibly get single digit response in my room. I do know they go low, cause I can feel it. I have actually just moved both to the front and need to recalibrate.

My suggestion is talk to Tom V. - either by phone or online chat.

PS I am sure the 18's would be amazing if your budget (and house) can handle them.

Boston Acoustics Classic series L/C/R + front presence; Fluance XLBP Bipole surrounds; 2 x PSA XS15se
Yamaha RX-A3040; 3 x Emotiva XPA-100; Emotiva BAS-X A500
Oppo BDP-103D

I did talk to Tom today. He recommended the S3000i/S3010 x 2 for the room but one each in the front corners. Had a really great discussion with him and appreciate his accessibility and honest opinion. May very well be placing a preorder for 2xS3010 this weekend.
Mike Butny and Pradeep2 like this.

Nice. I would have loved to have gotten one or 2 of the 3000's, but since I'm in Canada, the shipping, etc. would have been CRAZY! Enjoy.

Haha!

You're correct, Tom. I'm 6'6"+ and those are 4.8" tires... so thats a BIG bike.

Had a chance to just get the subs unpacked and into the room. No Audessey, room correction, nothing, just plugging them in.

And the early comparison is - there basically is no comparison. I agree with Tom in that the klipsch are tremendous value if you can find them on sale - I actually paid about 450 for them. But these are a totally different animal.

Had a chance to play some Greatest Hits scenes - Mad Max Fury Road, Interstellar, etc.

There are indeed things rattling in the room that I had no idea could even rattle!

As I posted about in my other thread, I'm actually about to move, so I'm not going to spend a ton of time dialing these in here. But I obviously just HAD to put them through their paces a bit.

So far, I am (literally) blown away by the difference. I can't wait to get them into a proper space and really start dialing them in!

Theater: LG OLED65E6P - Oppo UDP-203 - Xbox One X - PS4 Pro - Nintendo Switch - Denon AVR-X6400H 7.2.4 - (2) PSA V3601 - Klipsch: (2) RF-7 II, RC-64 II (4) RF-82 II, (4) CDT-5800-C II Music: Paradigm Studio 100 - REL R505 - Marantz PM8004 - Marantz SA8004 - Rega P6 Turntable - Rega Exact 2 Cartridge - Cambridge Audio StreamMagic 6

Yeah, the single V3601 I have shook the walls so hard that the drywall was slapping against the framing of the house. Had to move it behind my couch to stop drywall bits from raining down when watching stuff like Interstellar. Try one of yours nearfield in the process of moving things around if you get the chance. It’s a wild ride.
