Of course you don't want to leave MDF unfinished. But just giving an idea of a lighter finish with the big 18..

Not kidding at all! I remember seeing some unsprayed cabs in one of your posts a while back.

Once those veneer samples you sent me arrive, I'll decide on an S1510 finish for upstairs, and probably order an unfinished V1510DF for the main system

edit: Hmm, my receiver has two sub outs and XT32, not sure how I'd integrate a third sub though :/

But then Audyssey can only correct the summed output of those two subs. It seems like I'd get into needing a MiniDSP or one of those thingys PSA sells..

If you have 2 subs up front, Audy XT32 would treat the 2 upfront the same. you would use levelling to get the 2 dialed in. I did that with the 2 EA XV15SE(I) as they are up front, and then the V3600 in back. I did get a AMDC 2.0, one of those" thingy's" that PSA sells. You could also use REW and a UMIK with a laptop....So you can either take the red pill or the blue pill.....

It would make things a lot easier if the two subs on the Y cable were equidistant to the MLP whether they be upfront in R&L corners or rear corners or behind MLP NF...........the third could be anywhere it sounds best........

exactly @ahblaza ! Then use XT32, and level match. If you want more out of your subs, then you should read this:

I'm looking for opinions from anyone who has upgraded from a pair of V1500 to a pair of V1811. I've been discussing my options with Tom and I could add a 3rd V1500 for a similar cost of upgrading my existing subs and achieve similar output. If you have made this upgrade, how noticeable was it during everyday use and was it worth the effort and money of doing the upgrade?

Electronics: Denon X4400, Vizio M65
Sub: PSA TV36-iPal
Speakers: 3 x Chane A2.4 LCR, Klipsch Quintet Surrounds

Tom,

Since you're doing more in house these days, any chance you'll be offering the V36 in a wood veneer?? Curious because I have one now but I'd definitely consider one dressed up a tad.

Funny you should mention that, I just asked Tom the same thing as I was ordering a veneered S1510 and a V1510DF. Well, I asked about a bigger cabinet tuned lower with a nice finish.

The short answer was, they have a very high quality standard, and it would be prohibitively expensive to get a cab that big veneered up to that standard.

I wonder if they could do something like a V36 cabinet but with only 1 cutout and driver, tuned lower and meant to be used as a dedicated sub-subwoofer for folks who already have enough regular bass and want more oomph from 10-18hz...

Thanks in advance

I'm the wrong guy to ask about placement and tuning, because I just happened to have the right block-constructed house and ideal room to where the first place I set it down yielded incredible results; so much so that I got another one and placed it right on top of the 1st one!

You should go to the official Power Sound Audio forum on AVS and either ask Tom himself, or some of the other way more knowledgeable bass heads. They will tell you to purchase a UMIK mic and download REW to do true measurements and testing.

@IAmSpectre - I apologize for reproducing our private messages here, but you need some experienced bass heads to assist you, because I wouldn't be able to help you as every house and room is different... and mostly because I'm a Bass Noob!

What works for me in my home and room won't necessarily work for you.

You are exactly right...what works in one room might not work in another. So the best option is to eat a big bowl of Wheaties and start moving that sub around. Exhaust all placement options possible...that is the only way to find out what works best for your room.

Guys and gals, I need real talk here. I have decided to go to the sealed side (don't care about the 20-30 hz port tune bonus, etc discussion) and talked to Tom today. He is working on a quote for 1 s7201 and also a quote for 2 s3611.

I am liking the s7201 for its sheer badass look and performance (knowing that Id never get two) BUTTTTT 2 3601 would be nice as well.

I remember last year reading that the s7201 did some pretty freaky things that were not experienced before. I wonder if 2 3601 would do that. My hunch is no, and that the 7201 is "different."

You have a relatively small room to pressurize. I'd wager that the TR from a single S7201, along with its super low extension, will be more than you could ever use. It is violent even at -12 dB MV. The S7201 isn't like other sealed subs.

Didn’t you have an issue with the size and appearance of the V3601 with the GF let alone at s7201?

I had two v1500's and two 15v's in my roughly 16x14 living room. Small bar off to the side and just an opening to hallway.
Yes I noticed a difference the 18's just seem to kick you in the gut a little harder.

Well the decision is made... As much as I want to see how bad ass the S 7201 is, I just think that the other ones will be more manageable and will give me more flexibility in the future.

I’m going to see Tom sometime at the end of next week to pick up new s3601s. I don’t need the xlr or 12v so i didn’t get the 3611s.

I'm thinking of getting dual S3010 in wood veneer instead of going dual V1811. What do you guys think?
