Mine already shipped, though I probably would have ordered from mini dsp if I had known about it. Costs $15 less than I was charged. Still, it's good to know that it was a legit purchase.

All of the new lower tuned dual subs will not fit in my room due to their height and room layout rules out putting them anywhere else.

I had pretty much decided on a diy dual 15 using the buyout 15 from DIYSG. I already have the 15's and an amp to power it. However while my building skills are decent my finishing skills are not! And to make it worse I actually hate the finishing part of any project which is why my DIYSG 1299 center is still bare wood.

So while being in a holding pattern so to speak the XS30se popped up on the outlet list for PSA! I think adding a third sub will help out the room more than replacing my old subs with better new ones.
And here I am waiting for an adapter to actually use it now
I have it setup as a nearfield end table for my throne, err main seat in my HT. It is currently on the left side of my seat in the pic atm and to switch it to the right side will most likely require extending the power cord.

As a side note I was very surprised to see FedEx at my door with the sub yesterday. My first 2 XS30's were drop shipped which required me to meet the driver in town since I live on a dead end street which requires blocking traffic to allow a semi to back in to my street as they cannot turn around anywhere. Evidently the sub was 1 pound under the FedEx limit of 125 pounds!
The XS30se will be a substantial upgrade over the XS30.

Hey guys, it's been about 10 months since I've visited this thread. Last time i was here Tom was just getting all the new TV series out with about a 1 month wait i believe. He was also working on a possible 21" ipal version.

I think my last time here was around July 2019.

Can somebody catch me up on the state of PSA today plz? My reason for being gone from this thread is i missed about a month worth of posts and was waiting to catch up, but 1 month turned to 3 which turned to where i am now. I hate that i missed out so much as their is always so much knowledge being given out in here all the time.

For those who recall i still have the same 2 subs. Been very happy with the v18 a few inches behind me providing all the TR!

Really I’m just interested in the new drivers.
I’ll finally be able to measure my response with REW in a week or so. That’ll give me a better idea but I probably would gain more under 25Hz output with the LT because my room is open and vaulted.

I think you will be pleased. I upgraded from a 15 inch Klipsch to the new PSA 1812 drivers and the quality of bass and mid bass punch were a big upgrade. The bass was much more punchy and tight with a cleaner sound signature.

“Punchy and tight”

Yes while the Klipsch is okay, it is that punch in your chest that is missing. And grandkids have direct access to front firing driver. Wish it was 18 inch but I’m good with the 15. Had 15 inch PSA sealed before. One of reasons went with Klipsch is the wireless kit. Rearranged front room so wireless no longer needed. It worked well however.

Hey guys, I currently own an S1811, very happy with it and it was always my intention to add another at a later date but then PSA released the S1812

Would you think trading my current sub in for the 1812 would be a worthwhile upgrade ?

Has anyone done the same thing ?

Thanks.

Jason.

@basshead81 , I got my Umik-1 mic today and it turns out that I had a 15db null at 50hz. That caused Audi to increase the entire scale and then lower the peaks. I tried every location I can in my room and found one that seems better than the others. My results are showing that the V1812 starts to drop at 23hz and is gone by 20hz. Pretty underwhelming considering I was expecting 16hz when I pre ordered them.

Below is my pre Audi results with 2x V1812. I have the crossover frequency on the sub plate all the way up and the room control half way up with the delay all the way down on both subs. My speakers are crossed at 80hz and set to small. My LPF to LFE is set to 120hz in the receiver. In order to get 18hz I have to boost the room size and that is when they start to struggle at 20hz and below. I think the TV18 will be the answer to my problem.

What do you mean that it struggles at 20 Hz? Just curious.

Here is what my V1811 x 2 setup looked like with RSC set to large and I never noticed any sign that the subs were doing anything more than loafing along way below their limits.

I was getting less tactile response than I expected and decided to boost the room size. This helps with TR but still isn't as powerful as I was hoping for. What I meant by struggling is that I can hear a little bit of port noise when really low bass effects go off. The scene in Apocalypse now when Kurts says "the Horror" or in the movie "It 2" When Pennywise catches the firefly underneath the bleachers. I can hear air pushing out of the vents from the MLP. My hope is that a larger cabinet with ports will allow the driver to breath and go much lower before port noise becomes obvious.

Here is what mine looks like with RSC set to large. I'm not sure what it will look like after Audi because I havn't calibrated my new speaker configuration yet. Plan to later tonight.

I was considering ordering the UMIK-1, MiniDSP 2x4 HD, and the wireless adapter direct from MiniDSP. However, after noticing the disclaimer in their terms of service, it seems like there is a chance extra import taxes are required when ordering directly from them. Have you or anyone else been hit with those extra fees when shipping to the United States?

Yes unfortunately it looks like the V1812 lost quite a bit of extension. I believe that info should of been made known if they were going to be that much different then the previous model. I'm sure Tom will work with you on making the switch to the TV18's if you are not happy with the V18's performance.

This is the result for this specific room. I have a TV36 iPal and don't get the same extension as others are getting. It is more a function of my room than a limitation of the sub.
