Ha Ha Ha….Now that's an idea! Never thought of that. My own underground bunker theater with quad V3600's. If I could get my kegerator in there I would never leave.

all 3 of my XV15's are on carpet over concrete with baseplates and pictures will slide right off of them. I even have that rubber grip mat to help keep them planted lol. once spl levels climb above 120db it looks like poltergeist in my room.

It's becoming obvious to me I just didn't try hard enough to get things to fall off my XV15se before.

Thanks all. I am excited. I have actually never heard anything like this so it should be interesting. Main thing is if it can fit in my space, and sound good. My wife told me to buy a new audio setup, and I may have gone a little overboard. lol

Keep us in the loop Cain. IIRC you had dual CS_Ultras+ Samson1000?

I know the tendency is to grab fast-furious 14 for its 2hz exhaust scene....but pop in your favorite concert disc first and crank it up. I'm thinking you'll notice a bit of difference with the S3000i subs.

I've come early to wait for them, supposed to be here before 5pm.

Yes dual CS_Ultras. The designer, I heard, was a genius! ;-)

But I had a Crown amp driving them both.....

I'll share my thoughts with everyone!

Okay I had the house to myself so I put in some bass demo scenes and placed a family picture and a glass of water on my XV15se and cranked the sub. For most scenes I had the MV at -6 and ran the subs 8dB hot and then I watched a few short scenes at -3.

I admit I was wrong. I hereby stand corrected…sort of. At these levels the water was rippling pretty good regardless of what scene I played but the glass only moved once and that was minimal. The picture did start to walk but it took a lot to get it to move. However, I confess if I had watched a whole movie like The Incredible Hulk I can see the picture walking right off the sub long before the end of the movie. So movies like TIH, John Wick or MMFR could certainly do it but movies with short bass heavy scenes wouldn't (from what I saw). What was really cool to watch was the curtain (that's hanging down behind the sub) blow around like it was in a hurricane.

So basshead…you were right I had a lot of headroom left to tap into. Bass, sk373 and Brian you were all right about things moving and falling off but it takes a lot. So I stand by my statement that these single driver subs have very stable cabinets and it takes a lot to get things to fall off them.

Sadly, thanks to this little experiment, I think I may just have become addicted to running my subs even hotter and running things louder. It was fun!

I’m guessing that it may depend upon the subwoofer’s finish. I would suspect that with PSA’s standard finish one wouldn’t have much of a problem with movement. On a typical smooth finish, I would expect things to fall off pretty readily (unless there were opposing drivers involved).

Music area: Magnepan 3.6, McIntosh MC2205 amp & C48 preamp, SVS SB13-Ultra, Oppo BDP 95, dbx 3BX, and assorted equipment.
Movie area: EMP Tek E5Bi (were rebadged to R5Bi), RBH/EMP Tek R55Ti, PSA S3000i, Denon X2000, Oppo BDP 83.

I got a v1500 upstairs and into place. It was not too bad but I had to take many pauses and I might lose a thumbnail. PSA uses good, heavy duty boxes - the empty box probably weighs 10 pounds.

~9:30 on gain got a -11 and around 9:00 got a -10 from Audyssey calibration. Subwoofer is about 7 feet from listening position. Does that sound about right?

-10 or -11 are perfect, plenty of room to run HOT.

Yep that sounds right. The ICE amps have most people setting their gains around 9:00. As Alan said, either of those trim settings is a great place to be. Plenty of room to bump them up hot if you want.

What is the best way to get these suckers out of the box?? Upside down and pull the box off??

Also, I'm gonna need to load them on a hand-truck to wheel them into my theater....
