Looking to step up with a nice sub under $300. I am set on the PL-200 but there is also a def tec pro sub 1000 used for about the same.

In your opinion which is the better buy?

Everything about def tech sub in any price range is over exaggerated and far from real world performance KPIs. So, PL200 it is all the way.

You could spend days and months; you'd still have gone with PL 200. DefTech is notorious for the kind of superfluous specs they publish. They are impossible to achieve, at least, on planet earth.

For the price the pl-200 is great for HT. A bit weaker for music as it gets a bit boomy, but not bad at this range. It sure helps if not pushed and the mains are smallish.
Enjoy! For the price.
As most say add another $50 or so on sale and you can get a bit more for music...

I'm happy so far. I have been sent a mixed message by the music gods as comed just had an accidental power surge that blew my old speakers and receiver!! So there goes the avr, my pioneer elite vsx 40 along with my klipsch speakers!thank god I didn't hook up all the new stuff yet. (Monitor 70s, csw center, pl 200 sub) but now I'm in the market for a new receiver
