Hello,

I have been thinking about getting a new subwoofer for my HT Set-up. I have noticed the DSWmicroPRO 3000 at 1200W continuous (RMS), 2400W Peak for under $1000. I also see it only has a 10" woofer, which seems odd to me.

Has anyone had any experience with these subs?

Compared to other subs in the $1000 price range does it compete?

Thanks,

At about $1,000 you have a number of choices. Going the internet direct route can save you money. Take a look at this:

http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/uls-15.html

The ULS 15 has a very good 15 inch driver. The difference between 1200 watts and 600 watts on the HSU doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

You could buy 2 subs from SVS namely the PB-1000.

There also other choices.

Kinda looking to stay below $1000. I've heard about the PB-1000 before, as well as the PB12-NSD. Those are 300 Watt continuous though.

Hello just thought I'd say that the polk sub is really only around 600-700 watts rms max! And getting 2 pb1000s would crush it in lfe for a lot less

current setup: marantz 7011 avr, PSA 210t L/R, PSA 210, 4 volt 10's in slant box style, 4 svs pc13 ultras, epson 5030ub with 100" AT screen diy spandex cloth

I realize that the number of watts isn't unimportant, however, savvy sub designers have to balance wattage along with other factors, like cabinet size and driver excursion. You will be surprised by how much output a mere 300 watts can get you.

45 day no risk try out. (it doesn't get any better than that). Try to look at the SVS Bill of Rights.

You can get away with less power when the enclosure is bigger. Also power does not mean alot when determining subwoofer performance. The micro pro3000 is a decent sub, but for its price, Internet Direct will stomp a mud hole in its arse. smile.gif

Look at the SVS PB2000, PSA XV-15, or Hsu VTF-3...these options will easily outperform the polk for less money.
