The new firmware is done and it looks like all the issues have been resolved, just need to finish the sofware for it and test it. Shouldn't be too much longer now.
Also in case anyone is wondering why we have not done the instructional video yet is because we decided to wait until this new version was done.

I just visited the Funk Audio website. I hadn't been there in a while and had forgotten just how beautiful the Funk audio gear is. The craftsmanship is really 2nd to none, it's absolutely gorgeous (as is the sound quality, I'm sure of this even though I've never been blessed enough to hear it).

If I had the funds I would definitely love to own one of these beautiful subwoofers. Oh well…I can always window shop, they're fun to look at.

Great work.

Are there any particular reasons to upgrade to the latest firmware once it is tested? Most of the updates the last little while seem to have been for functions that aren't really used in our applications? Maybe the LED dimming.

Nathan - ever figure out the occasional loss of signal/reboot that happens on the external amps btw? Seems to be happening much less, but did occur the other day on mine again.

We are working on that issue. The AllDSP system we use is quite powerful(64bit 96kHz processing, compared to most DSP systems that run at 24 bit 48kHz or lower), and like any computer system the more powerful it is the more prone it is to developing a glitch after being on for extended periods. This glitch does not happen very often, and simply turning if off and back on reboots the system and clears the glitch.

This issue is even less frequent if you set it to be on all the time, and not enter standby, set standby delay setting to 0 to deactivate. The idle draw when the unit is not in standby is still only ~13watts, this is well within the standby draw of many home appliances, TV's etc.

I am not sure about Windows 10, but for windows 8 you need to follow the instructions available here http://www.funkaudio.ca/how-to-use-alldsp.html , Windows 10 could be the same. Changing your operating system should not change the functioning of the interface display panel on the subwoofer itself unless you changed the firmware via ALLDSP. As I mentioned before please continue using the version available from our page linked above until I am happy with the newer version available from ALLDSP. If you have gone to the new version and then back you will need to go into the settings with the password and change the user rights to have the display panel function as it did. If you need help doing this please contact me direct via email or phone.

Try to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 under administrator.

Right click -> Properties -> compatibility "tab"

Also check "Run this program as administrator"
Hopefully that works.

This is the time of the year the sun is very low. So at about 1:00 if I open the curtains it shines on this sub. The bright sun shine really brings the detail out in the Veneer.

This one of the pair of 18.0 subs Nathan built for me last spring done in a Mahogany Crotch.

It's amazing the kind of woods he gets. I have a 21.0 coming with a Bog Sequoia Burl with a polished finish. The wood itself can be hundreds (or more years old) and is undergoing the first stages of petrification. It's not petrified yet, but the process begins. The oxygen free, acidic environment of Bogs/muskeg does some serious magic to woods. In Nathan's words, he said a it's evil to work with because it want so crumble, but the effort and the end results are worth it. Obviously a very different look from the mahogany crotch in that photo (stunning) but staggering what he can and does work with. His main pic on his site for the 21.0 is done in santos rosewood - it has to be one of the most beautiful finishes I've seen. Just gorgeous. Someone on the forums here was the lucky one to snag that.

Sorry for going on, but I'm a sucker for rare woods (mahogany among them) and Funk Audio really scratches an itch for me.

Nathan is an artist when it comes to Veneers. And the fit and finish is perfect and flawless.
But the looks are only part of the story. They sound incredible. I have tested mine crossed as high as 250 Hz and they still sound incredible. Very clean bass.

Yea...I've contacted Nathan and discussed some formal design plans at minimum with a 18.0C in Santos or Mahogany crotch. I can't commit on a build for this scheduling period. Once we settle into our new home...I'll be fully on board...maybe even the 18.0.

One of the things I would really like to experiment again is using a higher x-over....did some with my last subs but ran into some localization issues... new place will be a dedicated room so placement will be more flexible as well.

I am lucky and the best spots for my subs are near my front L/R speakers. So for me localization isn't a problem.

Wooo, well Nathan sent me a couple photos of my new 21.0 freshly veneered. Lots of work to go yet. But it's great to get an update like that. You can't get Bog Sequoia Burl in chunks or strips, so the corner inlays look like they will be santos rosewood. Nathan has a great eye for this stuff, so I certainly trust him! 2 of my Favorite woods, magically blended together. 👍 Should be a looker!

Thread Bump! I'm hoping for more updates on your experiences! Love to hear more. I'm jonesing for my 21.0, alas I must be patient, which in some ways makes it more exciting! Pretty breathtaking performance from the sub. The driver is staggeringly well designed. I can hardly wait.

Ordered a FA 18.0C is Santos Rosewood the other day... Will be several weeks before I get my sub but no worries here.

Decision wasn't easy but at the end of the day it comes down to aesthetics(size, fit and finish) and with Funk Audio I believe I get overall package so to speak.

Countdown has begun but it's a ways away....as I told Nathan there is no rush since were just getting settled into our new home...
