Been almost an hour and a half,,,,,, did you get side tracked lol? Any updates? There are more setting options once you have a baseline done.

Set the Funk sub to NO EQ and -5

Ran YAPO and that set my sub level in the Yamaha to -8.5

Then manually set all to "small" and 80Hz's - Parametric EQ was set to flat in Yamaha already

***That's where I set as of now***

Not the best pics, but you get the point of amazing

Thats a good result already. I would bump the avr trim from -8.5 to -5 or -4. Then when listening to music set your Funk to the "music" preset, for movies, set the Funk preset to "home Theater", see if you like the results.

If you havent done it set your AVR volume readout to "relative" this will then make 0.0MV your reference volume. Your pictures make your mains look like there is no toe in, you may want to play with that. Looking good!!

Edit

Jon before you set your surround's to 80Hz what did room correction set them at? If room correction set the higher than 80Hz then 80Hz is not a good setting because manually setting X-overs lower than room correction can cause some information to be lost. Its ok to manually increase the X-over above room correction settings but not blow. Cheers!!

Yes.
Something to do with Android and the mobile version of the site.

Question Material care method

As for cleaning these Funk pieces, do you recommend a feather duster or some other polish for the wood (non gloss finish). I noticed some finger prints on the cone of the sub (my OCD). I took a clean cloth that was just slightly damp and gently rubbed the cone (I believe the cone is carbon/paper based?). Only thing that did was leave tiny fibers of the cloth stuck to the cone.

I have a rescue cat too with massive claws, but she is damn cool and never bothers my furniture and hopefully not my Funk's sub cone

Nathan's test measurements are looking good on the ULF Vented Beast ~112dB 10Hz 2m ground plane. Looks like we have a Cap killer on our hands

It really isn't a fair fight though, the Cap 4000 = 19.21ft3 The Beast = 31.59ft3

I'm thinking he'd prefer to sink his claws into that beautiful chunk of wood that you have bestowed upon him, as opposed to the driver side.

That's like a Corvette guy posting in a Ferrari forum telling them that they aren't getting good value lol "My Z06 has 650HP, I can't believe you paid 4x more for an additional 60HP on your 488GTB".

That was not a knock I hope you know. You said it was not a fair fight so added on that it should not be a fair fight based on cost as well.

I didn't take it to be inflammatory, just offering a different perspective such as there is more to cars than HP just as there is more to subs than dB. I'm sure Nathan could slap together something to compete with the Cap 4000 at its price point and still beat it in raw output but it probably wouldn't live up to his standard of what a Funk sub is/have his name associated with it.

+1

Numbers are great, and I use them as much as the next guy, but it's only part of the story. 0-60 times give no clue as to how a car feels when making the run, so they should be used as reference only. Total output when something is pushed to the limit doesn't indicate what the subwoofer actually sounds like, only what it can measure. There is more to the equation than that.

Either way, I certainly wouldn't want to move around the Cap4000 or your Beast. I'm getting too old for that stuff...

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite...
