The thought of a cat getting it's claws on one of those drivers makes me cringe.

On a side note,,,,, have you had any "real" listening time invested yet? Any impressions you would like to share?

I don't have any pets, but I think they'd get a nasty surprise if any tried to attack one of my Rythmik subwoofers while I was busy making myself go deaf, they're aluminum, and they hit back! Although, I'm guessing any powerful sub would pack a painful punch to your kitty if it's not careful.

I dont know if a cat would go near a sub while its pounding but anything is possible with some breeds lol. If i still had a cat and it showed a relentless curiosity,, i'd set up my tone generator, pause it, dial up the volume and wait. I would hope a couple five foot verticals may persuade the cat to stay away.

Not much at all....but as soon as I fired them up, instant gratification. I did watch Skyscraper for 5 minutes on HBO via satellite (cable), holy smokes is all I can say. Nathan was 1000% correct about not needing a center (as long as you have towers that image perfectly). The quality is second to none. In order to get that quality, it's takes time (4.5 months start/finish) to construct and money. I did not want to budget myself that expense, but Nathan gave me a package deal (4.1) that I could not pass up and had me sold in 48 hours

It will only get better with some time spent as well as using physical BD or UHD will sound much better than streaming imo.

I apologize for continuously posting about the new build, but I am really excited that we are nearing completion! I have been sub-less for too long. Must. Have. Bass.

Nathan emailed me this morning, the distortion figures are absolutely nuts!

"We are getting very close to completion, the distortion results are very impressive, about 5 % at max sweep level from over 100hz down to around 25hz climbing to around 18% by 16hz and leveling off from there."

Never ever apologize for posting your excitement and of coarse all updated build information,,, those types of posts have always been some of my favorites. Although there may be some competition between brand loyalists, for me i dont care "which brand" on which thread,,, i love to read about anyone's enthusiasm regardless of what sub budget, keep it coming

Most people don't have trouble finding room for at least one fridge in their house, so why not some subs.

Latest update from Nathan

I have been, am, “working”(in quotes as this kind of stuff hardly feels like working sometimes) on them over this weekend. These are exceptional, finally a ported design I love the sound, even at low levels they have wild low end, but no “overhang” or anything that makes them sound “off” in any way like almost any other ported or passive radiator design I have done to date, other than that one for Josh Ricci years ago but it had many tradeoffs, these trade off nothing.

And when you really open them up, even in our massive shop space, ~90,000 cubic feet, its almost scary. Yesterday I stepped outside and with some ~10-13hz content you could see the reflection in the bay door windows moving 3 bays down from us in the building we are in.

I think Nathan may have hit Nerd Heaven!!!!! Coming up with this first build and having what seems to be very impressive results in measurements and the physical reaction to a massive space described!!!! Nathan how much longer will they be there before shipping? Hoping to take the ferry over this time next week???

I really hope they ship today or tomorrow, I paid in full for them last week. I ordered at the end of January and was originally supposed to have them mid-May. I have been very patient with the delays, I understand the nature of the hand crafted work and perfection takes time. I am becoming increasingly frustrated though.

My schedule goes to **** mid-July. I wanted to receive them this week as I have Wed-Fri off work and that didn't happen. Next week is really the last good week for me to receive them, after that I am booked with business travel until the last week in July and it will be extremely challenging to accept delivery.

This is normal for a custom build product. Not to mention he is building you 4 subs so that would take longer than having only 1 sub shipped. It will be all worth it at the end.

I LOVE IT, MAN!!!

All of this passion makes me wish I had some Funks! I think this is on my upgrade path as I love the look, the feel and finish and I'm pretty sure they sound awesome as @PioManiac has vividly described many times!

Reading all of these posts and Nathan's Passion made me think of this, which I looped together...

+1^

Yes, the downside to such large custom work projects done by a perfectionist is the build time and testing, especially with a bran new design that is been introduced. From Nathan finding the sweet spot on the custom driver build specs to the port design, cabinet size decision, with the hope that after hundreds of hours invested he obtains the results of his goals. So much time, quality control in each step does add up. But well worth it!!!

At least he keeps in touch and responds to calls and emails if delays occur.

My schedule goes to **** mid-July. I wanted to receive them this week as I have Wed-Fri off work and that didn't happen. Next week is really the last good week for me to receive them, after that I am booked with business travel until the last week in July and it will be extremely challenging to accept delivery.

It took him almost 4-5 months to deliver the funk 18.0SE pair(basic black box). Keep in mind your has bigger driver . What you could do is stop waiting on him to deliver . When Nathan says he is ready to ship then you tell him you are ready to receive, that's what I did. Also Nathan needs to ensure that product works 100% delivered, imagine having to ship back to rectify an issue.

Please don't feel frustrated, sometimes it's worth the wait. I documented my experience here.

Cool First time cranking it up

Pink Floyd greatest hits (CD) arrived yesterday and last night I went heavy (at least with my ears) with the volume..........hot damn, amazing sound and clarity. Best 4.1 around

Being in my early 40's, I have never been to someones house (I've been to plenty) with a sound setup. I sat my GF down last night and she listened to a few songs and the look on her face was pure bliss

Per Nathan's words or close too: "I do not need one (center) with this present setup"

Have everything I need for my complete setup....done for many years to come. Only thing, maybe REW calibration down the road
