We now have full functioning prototypes and everything is looking really good. Attached is an in room (center of demo room), 1/2 meter, raw (no eq) measurement with no smoothing so please take it with a gain of salt. We're not going to use our typical house curve and instead eq for a +/- 1db from 16hz and up. The new amplifier allows for user adjustments so people can dial in the response the way they want from there.

I wish I was better at interpreting graphs but what little I (think) I know...this looks good without smoothing. What do the 2 little L like brackets that you added in there mean? Or what are you pointing out?

The left one is at 16hz and the right is at 33hz and they are 2db apart (+/- 1db). The topend rises because of how much motor strength (bl^2/re=256) the driver has and this is really important for sound quality because this with a well designed cabinet gives extremely tight, clean bass.

To calculate motor strength, take the "bl" times the "bl" and divid by the "dcr" (bl^2/re). Sample: bl=10, re= 4 ohm so 10x10/4=25.

I currently have S1 Captivator and a Velo sealed 15, how much would I benefit by replacing the Velo with JTR 1400? Movies only, mostly scifi/action/fantasy/horror, would the lower bass extension of the 1400 be appreciated or interfere with the sealed Cap?
Room is closed, 19x14x8, avr denon 4520 with audyssey dual SubEQ.

Captivator S1 has +10db output advantage at 10hz over the Captivator 1400. The Captivator S1 has our own developed, proprietary eq'ed curve that is designed for best in room response. The curve mates with room gain to give response down into the single digits.

When using multiple subwoofers, I recommend using the same subwoofers..

Thanks Jeff, I am delighted with the Cap, and getting a second S1 has been attracting me to replace the Velo, I saw your new sub and thought that this may work to help get lower bass extension but as you point out that I am probably already getting that to some degree. I expect my next upgrade will include a matching S1. Thanks again for your opinion.

I say step up and grab a S2 to go with your S1. You will not be disappointed!

The reaction for $1300 shipped vs the JTR for $1750 with $150 for shipping. I would probably lean towards the JTR as I think the 2nd amp and driver are probably worth the price difference. Jeff may need to think about making the introductory price the normal price after the sale.

No question, Had this same dilemma when I went from my Vtf15h to my Fv15hp. Both great subs for their price point but you can clearly see why the Rythmik is $400 plus more than the Hsu. One of the best pieces of advice ever given to me was "You get what you pay for"

Updates. SpeakerPower's eta for the aluminum plates is April 22. If so than they'll have them ready to ship Monday, April 27. If so than we'll have them May 1st and start shipping Monday May 4th. Keep in mind there are a couple of "if"s in there. First day of the pre order sale and we already have 3 spoken for. Looks like the first batch will sell out quick.

Ah man! I'd jump on these quick people. JTR subs are kick ass. And that's one hell of a deal for intro price. I'd go duals with these and that's a lot of bass that most people will ever need. Lol..

Good news. I just got off the phone with SpeakerPower and the metal plates just came in. We are getting the first amplifiers off the assembly line, will have amplifier by the end of next week and start shipping Monday April 27th.

It's been a beautiful last couple days for outdoor testing and am very happy with the results so far.

I just read this post. That is an extremely powerful motor, the type of BL^2/re that you see in heavy duty pro audio woofers. That has even more force than the LMS Ultra. How much magnet do you have in that motor?

I have a pair of custom subs ordered that is taking longer than expected (Not the builders fault). I just sent a email to see if they have been veneered yet. If not, then I will request a deposit and I may order 2 of these. Can these be ordered in any other finish besides flat black?

Jeff also offers veneers but I'm not sure how much that adds to the lead-times.

I know there's the automotive finish too besides veneer. But yes, may take more time with customs.

Wow. Very flat. Very nice. Any max db measurement charts on this sub?

Or 2 m ground CEA 2010 type measurements?

Here is another shootout the Captivator was a part of. Even in Jonathan's old basement that was terrible for bass (I remember the Epik Empire sounding like a clock radio ) the Cap was crazy impressive.
