Yeah, I was thinking of the 2400s. Even more reason to get the two Shifters!

Looks like I may list my DTS-10 and QSC 4050 to raise funds for a 3'rd Cap.

I'll also talk to my family member about selling his HSU-ULF15's to pay for a 4th.

A lot of this depends upon how soon they sell. The Pre-sale ends Friday 5-15.
Maybe I can work something out with Jeff as the amps have delayed production anyway.

BTW - Here's a picture of the quarter sawn figured teak veneer finish I ordered from JTR for my Cap's.

That finish looks beautiful and I think you are making the correct choice in going for 3 or 4 cap's. I think 4 of them will give you what you're looking for. I'm starting with 2 but I may not end with 2.

Yes.. 3 or 4 min subs seems to be common around here these days.. There's 4 Seaton sub m's, 4 Terraform, 3 OS owners around AVS.. Even 4 caps.. Lol..
Yea, go for the 3 if you can.. Better yet 4 of them..

We overnighted the first amplifier off the assembly line so that we can do some more testing and hopefully, give SpeakerPower the thumbs up to ship out the rest this week.

If everything tests as expected, would you anticipate the first completed 1400's shipping the week of the 18th or 25th?

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that amp recessed in the cabinet? Never seen that before.

Usually, around $300, depending on materials.

I placed my order for one of these from Jeff a few days ago, and I'm really looking forward to the new sub. I just couldn't pass up the intro pricing.

Yes, today is the last day of the sale.

Data-Bass preliminary results are looking very promising:
16hz = 108db, 2m, rms (+9db for 1m, peak)
20hz = 114db, 2m, rms (+9db for 1m, peak)

The ported Caps don't use port plugs anymore, unless I've missed something.

You are correct, the Captivator doesn't come with port plugs nor is it recommend to plug the port.

I remember when some of the forum guys were attacking you for saying the old original 2011 18" ported captivator simmed out at 127dB at 20hz - (1M?)
Sounds like, in fact, it would have done pretty close to that in a test!?!?! Good for you, Jeff!

114dB + (9dB for 1m peak) + ~3 dB? between current Captivator 1400 and original Captivator 4000?

This is very impressive. Especially when you look at the numbers in the ULF thread (though many are estimated):

Not sure what you mean here. Confusion over what?

I can dig up several old threads. There were many forum regulars saying this just wasn't possible out of a single ported 18" in the Captivator sized box, and that those types of numbers were outlandish. Not sure what confusion you are referring to? It was basically said by some knowledgable forum members - that those numbers were BS.

Even just in the last week or two I made mention to bossobass on the databass forums that my eight sealed UM18-22 were only a hair better in real world use (Where you are seeking a reasonably flat frequency response and not just absolute max SPL) than my pair of ported caps, and he poo pooed my subjective opinion/owner experience on the matter (even though I no longer own the caps and have nothing to gain by still supporting them), basically saying not possible. Well -- there's the numbers to back it up.

Seems like a bit of vindication for Jeff Permanian to me. Too bad it's 2-3 years later than the original heated discussions.
