Hi Jeff,

Can you comment on the amp testing? How did speakerpower do?

Amplifiers are on the way. We should be able to get almost everyone's Captivator 1400 that was ordered in April out this week and have all the Captivator 1400s (non custom) out the door by the first week in June.

Jeff how much more powerful is the Orbit Shifter compared to the Cap 1400?

Display - LG OLED
Receiver - Denon

Jeff will have to clarify, but IIRC, it took 2 of the Cap 2400s to equal an OS, so more than 2 of the Cap 1400s. Possibly 3?

From 25-50hz it's 2:1 (+120db, 2m, rms, burst), above 50hz it's 3:1 (+130db, 2m, rms, burst), down in the 15-20hz range they're about equal but then the OS has more output again below there. Data-Bass should be testing the Orbit Shifter LFU in Seprtember.

Just a reminder, Data-Bass numbers are 2 meter, rms so you need to add 9db for a 1 meter, peak. Also, when comparing subwoofers, look at each frequency and not just averages.

I am just glad that Ricci tested a brand new product so that we don't have to speculate for so long.

Finally there is a commercial sub that can beat Rythmik FV15HP in output AND offer more bang for the buck, particularly at the pre-order price.

And a job well done, Jeff.

Unless Jeff carried over the pre-order price a little longer that ship has sailed though. Still a great sub even at $2000 though!

I'm going to take this as a compliment that the FV15HP is used as a measuring stick.

Display - LG OLED
Receiver - Denon
Speakers - Klipsch
Subs - Rythmik

Thanks Jeff for having Ricci test the Cap. People have been wanting to see this data for years. The FV15HP has it's number at 12hz by 2db, but it gets spanked everywhere else.

That's because it is, there's simply no denying that. Subs with 15" drivers are plentiful - and a bunch of them are very impressive - but the FV15HP is still the class of the field, even though it hasn't been updated in years. If Brian decides to tweak it some I can only imagine what it would be capable of.

We keep trying to get him to entertain the idea of adding an 18" to the line-up, but he hasn't budged so far. Maybe we will wear him down overtime and he will give in?

Wow, those are impressive numbers. My question is, are there any ~$1000 subs that could match a Cap 1400, if running duals? RA Echo 15, PSA V1500, HSU VTF15Hmk2, Rythmik FVX15, maybe? Especially interested at 16 and 20 hz.

FWIW, my estimates for the VTF15Hmk2 would be 108.6 @16hz and 112.8 @20hz , based on the deltas in measurements between the DB testing of the mk1 and HSU's numbers, and deltas between HSU's numbers for the mk2 vs mk1, plus 6 db for duals (yes, many assumptions, but i like playing in Excel...).

Based upon what he recently sent me for review - a pair of F8's which, as the name implies, use 8" drivers - my guess is that goal just became even more elusive.

Several people received tracking today and even more were contacted that their Captivator 1400s will be ready Tuesday. We should be halfway through them all by Tuesday and have them all out the door by the end of the following week (except customs).

Each Cap should be just like each 215 as far as bass goes. Are you getting 2 Caps? Expect a 6 db bump in headroom which IMO is very significant. The difference is you don't have to eq the bass into them like with the 215's, just bump up the sub trim.

I used to have 2 ported Caps, loved those subs.

Wait...

That's only if you are sending 2000 watts to each 215. If not you will get more than a 6 db boost.
