I sent Fatshaft that scene and he measured it. It's in the master bass list thread. If I can remember how I found it on the disc, I will include it lol.

What is the community's consensus on clips with explicit language/violence? The way I'm setting the disc up it will play a scene then go back to menu. So each clip you have to actually choose. My thinking was I can label the "Explicit" scenes as such so if you have more sensitive guests you are able to just skip those. Thinking specifically of the club scene from John Wick, as it is an awesome scene but is very violent with explicit language. Would be a shame to completely exclude it.

I have not been able to watch the last couple of contenders yet; Tomorrowland, Everly, Poltergiest, Dragon Blade, Pan ( I skimmed through this , but couldn't really find a demo scene) and Unbroken. Once I get scenes from these I should be ready to start testing. It will just take a while for me to see each of these. If anyone wants to give some scene suggestions, I'm all ears.

Regarding limiting to one scene per movie, there will be some that have multiple scenes. For example, Pixels. Even though some have panned the movie there is no question the sound is excellent. Last night I was skimming through @Ralph Potts avs-forum-s-top-blu-rays-2015and coincidentally scenes he mentioned were the 3 scenes I will be including. Even with some movies having more than one scene, there will be plenty of variety.

Regarding aspect ratio, of the scenes I have completed so far 95% are 2.40.
One is 1.85 (Ant-Man)
Jurassic World is 2.00
Interstellar is variable 2.40/1.85.
You MUST include John Wick's Club Scene. In fact, make it the first chapter track That's my goto scene right now. I demo for AVS members mostly and a handful of first time friends...who are all adults...realistically, I personally never do demo for kids...they won't quite 'appreciate' it when I shift things into reference gear, cover up their ears, and run out of the room...and go off to play around the house. FWIW, not a single person has ever complained thus far with past demo disks. All grins.

Don't worry about separating the scenes by aspect ratio...just throw it all in. Many have lens memory PJ's or 16:9 screens...One thing that was a minor-con for me with scuba steve's demo disk...was having to jump back to ratio menu just to finally find another scene.

If anything, you could alphabetize the chapters by movie title for the easiest search and play...or have the most popular demo scenes be in first selection of chapters for quickest dive.

IMO you should make it so all the scenes play consecutively, like chapters, instead of having to go back to main menu - perhaps this can be an option? The explicit scenes can be in a separate playlist so those who want can skip it. I haven't authored any discs but this should be doable from what I see.

Don't spend too much time on this, the main thing is the content!

Did you happen to figure out a way to cut the clips with a fade in and fade out at the beginning/end of each clip?

Why would you want to do that?
It would get really annoying after a while.

I don't think a short fade in would be a bad idea. We're looking at the loudest and most bass heavy scenes that exist...I know a few previous bass demo clips have scared the crap out of me when you hit play and you're instantly at 100+ db. But maybe if the editing is done well, the start of the scenes would be at a "quieter" moment, just before the bass hits, so that we are eased into the bass madness. Then no fade in would be needed.

The way I have cut the scenes so far, you should have no worries of being instantly blasted out of the chair. I have tried my best to follow the intent of most scenes, not start with the most intense bass point.

Subscribed, and thanks for the effort.

For those asking for video and volume fade ins and outs... Unless you have the necessary software to do this is not possible. And even if you did, to do that will require to reencode the video and the audio. This projects take a long time as it is, now if you want to edit and reencode each clip this would take a looooong time.

I'm not too familiar with multiAVCHD, but I believed that you can't code a loop or play all with it. The menus can be made to look decent if you take the time.

Looking forward to it.

Added the Paris scene from Tomorrowland, looking to also add the house escape scene. The wife was getting annoyed while I was trying to get the times to cut, so will have to do it while she is gone.

I was also able to watch Heist, while I thought it was an alright movie, nothing jumped out lfe wise.

So, house escape scene from Tomorrowland. Will check on the avalanche scene from Point Break 2015 and a couple of scenes from Everly. Should I add another scene from MM:FR? If so, which one? When these are done I should be able to start compiling and testing.

I haven't started compiling yet. Still have a couple more scenes to cut. Once I get those done, I can start getting it together. I should have them cut next week.

Scenes from Everly.
Maybe Star Wars FA.
Maybe the suv scene from John Wick.
Need to remember how I found the deleted scene from JW.
Need to check the avalanche scene from Point Break.

I would add some clips off of Oblivion. I just ran that for some calibration and damn if my subs were no rocking! The falling scene and just about every time he fires up his little jet copter is pretty good. I wanna say Oblivion won Bass movie of the year a few years ago!

No worries, life has just been happening. Kind of hard to tell the wife I won't change a diaper because I have to work on the Demo disc. I like my appendages right where they are lol.

But seriously, I redid a couple of scenes that were not acting right and still have a couple more to redo as I didn't really like how I cut them. Need to add a little to the beginning of one (Bus Flip) so it doesn't start with blasting from the get go. Now it is just finding the right point to start it where it makes sense.

Also finally had a chance to skim through Everly trying to find suitable demo scenes. Same problem as John Wick, copious levels of bass correspond with copious amounts of cursing. Have a couple of timestamps that I'm looking at to add without the cursing if at all possible. If it isn't possible, then as I said before I'm not sure how I will handle it. Seems about even in regards to those who mind versus don't mind NSFW language clips being included.

Now, the dilemma is, do I add scenes from titles released on BR this year or wait until next year and do a disc then? SWFA is just begging me to be included on this disc, somebody talk me out of it lol.

Year is not really relevant, include what you want and what will fit. It could be titled 'latest bass demo disc'

I would suggest that you finish what you have already and get it out to the yearning and teaming masses.

Leave SWFA until next year. Besides I don't think SWFA has much great bass. And I did not see it listed in post #1 of the New Master List of Bass in Movies.

(funny thing is that I didn't know what SWFA was. Thought it had something to do with Wife Acceptance Factor. So I googled it. Figured it wasn't Sold Waste and Financial Assistance. Nor Sindh Womens Football Assocation. Finally it dawned on me that it was Star Wars Force Awakens).
