Everytime the MBMs are on, i have a big smile on my face and say to myself 'that's more like it' . Gun shots just have more weight to it, background music just sounds more club like and of course my couch shakes more. The 1200d pair has brought my system up a notch (more like 2 notches)
The most added effect scene I have seen so far with the MBMs is the Terminator Genisys - Bye bye Skynet scene. This scene is centered around 55hz ish and it pounds RIDICULOUSLY hard with the 1200D's . My #1 go to demo clip currently.

Well, well - speak of the devil and he shall appear. Look what just showed up at my front door.

What a cute little guy Just a size reference pic

Here is the final resting place next to my rear surround speaker. The other one will go next to the other rear surround speaker.

I am going to try to avoid near-field if possible due to room aesthetics.

I have prior commitments this evening and tomorrow, so I won't get first impressions until tomorrow evening or Sunday morning - stay tuned.

It's not my fault my brother. This is a clear case of crowd frenzy and AVS thread manipulation. Can't you see I am the victim here - don't judge -

If figure if they don't work out in that room, I will move them downstairs to the living room system. it won't be the first $500 I wasted in this black hole of a hobby.

Oh....judge I will.

I mean, look at this picture:

Lil 12" thing next to a proper 8cuft tuned to 40hz bass bin. Dat midbass is from that bigger one that says JBL.

The rest of these guys have no proper midbass (lil speakers) so they have to get these things. You don't. But...AVS peer pressure. I get it.

Yeah I agree but am still hopeful. It was Coach's comments that pushed me over the edge since he has the 4722s too.

Either way, wife is telling me to get off the laptop

Thanks for the confirmation! You made an important point when you said that problems start when the waves fold back. I had forgotten how much better my mid-bass, and mid-bass tactile response, became after I got serious about adding bass traps in my room. The good news was the thick wood paneling, and good low frequency containment, I had in my room. The bad news was how much cancellation I had, due to the room geometry. It took a combination of room treatments, multiple bass sources on opposing walls, and XT-32 to really clean it up.

One day he will enter the room and he will discover that puny little 1200 is nowhere to be found. Upon extensive search he will discover that one of bigger subs swallowed it through a port hole.

He is sitting on top of the Mariana 18.

Since this picture was taken, I have moved the riser and the pair are on the floor..

The three of us already have the same speakers...now going for the same near field subs....pretty sure that's against the bro code!!!

Still leaning towards getting some Crowsons so we shall see.

Before the MBM's I had the 1099 crossed at 80hz but I had to have the subwoofers overlapped and crossed them at 120hz to get satisfactory output. It's very possible I'm doing something completely wrong, but I do like a lot of midbass slam.
Sounds like you may be having some cancellation at the xo frequency when using 80hz xo. Try changing the sub distance or phase with 80hz xo to get in phase summation between the sub/mbm and 1099 mains. If there's cancellation due to out of phase output, you will still have poor response at the xo region regardless of the size of the woofer in the mains, or number of MBM and subs used.

May want to check out Mtg90's subwoofer integration guide.

Cheers!

I am going to try them about 6 ft away since @Marc Alexander and @tvuong had good results outside of directly behind the MLP. I am trying to avoid running cables if possible behind the seats but I will if it makes a difference. I don't care what my wife threatens me with

I am using them right behind my couch nearfield along with LCR JTR 215RT's and they do make a difference. They are right up against my couch firing into my back. I can be the same sensation from the 215's at extremely loud levels but these allow me to get that that same feeling at more sane volumes.

Its looking more and more like nearfield is going to be mandatory in my room. If I am going to do that, then they are going to sit on top of some 18's near-field like the rest of you guys

I think it would be overshadowed where you have it now. I have 4 of them now - 2 sitting on each S2 behind my couch. Only 2 are hooked up right now. Just got a mini dsp balanced to get them all setup.

damn that's gonna really slam!! I guess you never did try the magnum 12's AIY or inserting it in the 1200d enclosure? Probably don't even need to mess with it with 4 of them.

Wow Ray, haven't chatted with you in a while. Didn't know you went nuclear with the JTR 215 and all the subs. So the JTR S2 behind your seats don't provide enough nearfield impact? I am toying with getting some Crowsons as I think they would be easier to integrate into my system.

I have 2 S2's up front behind the screen and 2 behind the couch. I never though they were lacking but then read this thread and ordered 2. Didn't like the way they looked stacked on just one of the S2's so had to order 2 more to balance the look

I really like the adjustability having them in the system. Can add midbass so easily.

Not significant, but noticable. More TR. But if to loud, it can get bloated.

I am going to have some time this evening to get back into playing around with this nar-field stuff....but I think I am going to keep it in the system.

I agree with the comment about how this adds a nice feeling, even at lower volumes..

Most likely I will have the Behringer on top of a sealed 18 and let them both work there magic.

Yes, more chest TR without having to increase level.

Besides, this is VERY easy to test, just flip it around, and give it a go
