Just from my own experience: When I include my wife on purchasing decisions, amazingly the budget balloons to accommodate what she likes best. You can't let that cabinet be an option.

Have you tested your current sub in any position outside of the cabinet?

I did try the sub outside of the cabinet the other day for testing purposes, and surprisingly, it sounded the same inside the cabinet vs. outside placed along the front plane on either side of the speakers, and in the middle.....My ears could not discern a difference.

I also forgot to mention, my other half does not know I am purchasing a new sub ....my dilemna of using a cabinet is also my savior as she will not see the new toy . One of the reasons I was so inclined to get the HSU is because I could drive over to the factory and pick it up and leave it in my car until she is not around, and just sneak it in.

I just put up a pair of OM-R2 side surrounds. Now I have a spare pair of OMD-15s I may sell or put in the bedroom. Let me know if you are interested.
Just out of pure curiosity, how much are you selling them for?

Figured I'd give you guys an update. I finally removed the sub from the cabinet and started playing with placement options in the living room.....and it sounded great in the living room when sitting next to either of the front speakers, but I had nulls in certain seats that only a second sub could fix. I figured I would try my other sub (ED A2-300) and see if dual subs would work, and it did smooth out the bass for all the listening positions. The only problem was that the ED was a lot more powerful than the sb12 with LFE, and you could hear an imbalance with the volume turned up. So last week i stumbled upon a craigslist ad for another A2-300, and i finally picked it up today. I haven't hooked it up yet, but I think once I set them up and calibrate them, my bass needs will be met! I'm going to hold off on the HSU or PSA until I get an upgrade bug again...but I know i'm probably going to stay ported from now on.

Thanks guys for all the help!

How'd you navigate WAF and unleashing the sub(s) from the cabinet?

Exactly....the law has to be laid down before a marriage can take place!

Here are some pics of the setup. Don't mind the wires, I will do the wire management later on tonight. What do you guys think?

Edit: Don't know why pics are showing sideways.
