Yes smaller 10" woofer, but 3 way, and I always seem to like the mid-bass punch of a 10 inchers for music. You already have 4000 to cover the ultra low.
Thank you!

I decided on the highest priced item that was on sale. If the 212Ts were on sale for under $2000, I would have been all over them. The 212HTs are out of my comfort zone for me, not to mention the other 3 way speakers north of $2000. I am taking a lot of risk here as I have already sold my front stage which sounded very good and measured well in my room. Considering the $600 high end compression driver and how long it takes Jeff to design and build the Neosis speakers, I think I am in for a treat. I do hope my semi-wooden ear can appreciate how special they are.

it's not a fair fight either. dual 15's vs. dual 18's in a larger cabinet with more amp power. that said, yes, the difference is large between the two.

for fun last night i took my remaining fv25 and placed it as close as possible to my seat and replayed some of my go-to torture tests (i only have it for a few more days). some content actually felt more powerful than having the 3 i had further behind me before. listening to the remaining rythmik back against the rear wall felt extremely neutered though (having 2 and then 3 was definitely not placebo in terms of output felt). snapped this picture last night because it's comical:

Yes, going nearfield will definitely give you more chest punch and shakes at the seating. Also by having it closer, you can turn down the gain to get same spl but with more tactile response and have more headroom left.

With that said...maybe dual caps up front of room and another sub right behind the seating? Also like @beastaudio mentioned you could do riser to get more shake or get something like crowsons if you don't have anything of that sort. Either way you go, you're getting an upgrade in the ULF department!

Then you've lost feeling of your body in general. No chest thump at 150dB means you are basically going to need an AED timed to your own personal system and just have it charged and ready when you want to listen to music. CLEAR!!!!

Man I'm old, LOL. The bass would literally make your eyes orbit in a circular motion and make you feel nauseous. Talk about an orbital shifter! It rippled the car apart, but damn it was fun.

That being said, the two Cap 2400 flanking my couch (MLP) give me plenty of "good vibration". I can only imagine what two, or three near field Cap 4000s might do.
If backed up to the couch like he is showing below VVVVVV, two cap4000's are easily capable of creating this effect, ESPECIALLY if you're on a subfloor. Heck, when I was in KC we stood in the room above the HT and cut a single cap4000 loose and made me not be able to see clearly. I think you guys may have thought I meant you literally lose vision, which is not what I was after, more like, if you had a dinner menu in your hands, it would be hard to read the fine-print with a pair of cap 4000's going bonkers 2 feet away from you. In order for max TR, the drivers have to be extremely close to your seating, just like below. You loose a LOT of TR with every inch you get the drivers further away.

Lay it on its side so you can push it closer to your mid back when your reclined (center the two drivers behind you or put the one with the port directly behind). This should bring it even harder! Yep Beast is right, every inch further away from the drivers, you loose a LOT of TR. I can easily feel the diff of 1" farther or closer when the sub driver gets this close.

EDIT: I would think that a cap4000 positioned like this right behind you could even induce some nausea at pretty high SPL in the lower frequencies, especially down around 16-10hz.

@serith - For an experiment on what 16 hz feels like with a driver this close, Load up 'The Incredible Hulk" and jump to the begining of chapter 4 (I think this is the chapter). About 10 seconds in right about the time the camera starts filming inside the vehicle, there is a wicked 16hz tone that kind of plays like a sine wave for about 40 seconds or so. Crank it up to ref level bass or thereabouts and it should wobble you SILLY with TR!!

what's funny is i don't eat in that room either. magic eraser works wonders though (seriously makes a keyboard feel like new again). but yes i love that keyboard, even if the track-pad is a bit touchy. i've had it for a couple of years and i think i've charged it once or twice.

Well, if you like stone, be on the lookout for when Wicked Weed hits a store near you. They are a local brewery to me that was purchased by Inbev, and are beginning to start shipping nationwide I believe. Their Pernicious is my absolute #1 IPA.

will be on the lookout! my yearly favorite is about to hit the shelves soon too, bell's hopslam. they only brew it once a year though to make sure when you see it on the shelf you know it's fresh. the only downside is the price @ ~$20/6pk

I am not so sure if serith has placed the order yet... Also, for the next 2 weeks, no one is in work mode... Jeff might want to take a vacation...

I am willing to bet that you will hear the JTR 212HTs / Cap 4000 combo in person first.

I have one of those in my fridge as we speak. It's from last year, but has been refridg'd the entire time. Big no-no I know, but the essence is still there just fine for if I don't find any more this year Sorry everyone else for the side-track

for fun last night i took my remaining fv25 and placed it as close as possible to my seat and replayed some of my go-to torture tests (i only have it for a few more days). some content actually felt more powerful than having the 3 i had further behind me before. listening to the remaining rythmik back against the rear wall felt extremely neutered though (having 2 and then 3 was definitely not placebo in terms of output felt). snapped this picture last night because it's comical:

This is why it was suggested that you run all three on their sides directly behind the seating when you were experimenting.

i did do just that. i was just messing around last night and wanted to see what the 1 would sound like standing upright as close as possible to my seat. deep bass had incredible TR, but the mid-bass sounded awful--you can tell the drivers are right behind your head. after trying different configurations i much prefer the sound of the drivers being closer to the ground instead of raised up in the air and for that reason i won't order the low profile version of the 4000. i know the standard depth units will eat up a lot more of my floor space but i think it's safer to run them in the same configuration i had the rythmik's.

I guess everyone is different when it comes to feeling the bass. I was sitting about 6-7 ft from @chucky7 ’s 4000 and we had it cranked up quite loud that I felt the couch shake and the wind blow, but that was it, no blurry vision, or chest thump whatsoever for me. @lukeamdman ’s system was the only system I had heard that I felt pressure in my ear as we were close to 150db or more.

Do it! I was going to say those paired with your 4k is definitely as high as you can go, but then I remembered, this is Jeff we are talking about. The man never stops coming up with more insane designs!

Seriously though, congrats on the new speakers. I'm sure you will be VERY pleased.

Thank goodness those 215s are on your side of the country, because if they were here, I might not be able to resist.

Okay I thought you had all three on their sides a foot or two away from the seats, but never directly against them, and when standing vertically they were blocking your rear channels (as would the 4000-LP). What crossover are you running? 80Hz or less if where I prefer for VNF placement, too high and you can localise it).

It's actually the 4000ULF that is holding me back from getting Jeff's more bass capable towers.

Thank you.

Versus the LP version, the regular version allows more placement options. The drawback is if you lay it on its side like I do, the 4000ULF will take up 12 square feet of floor space.

it was pretty wild listening to the single fv25 ~2" behind my body last night. when the unit was outputting certain frequencies at maximum output (everything around port tune), it was starting to cause my vision to blur and teeth to rattle involuntarily. while i don't think i can replicate that feeling with multiple captivators feet behind me, it will still be a huge upgrade over what i had. while that was a fun experiment not only does that sub placement look terrible but it's probably a little dangerous as all it would take is someone stretching behind them and smacking the sub with their hand, or reclining the chair into a driver. i'm afraid i'd always be on edge having guests over.

Ah, shouldn't you be in the car right now going to pick those up? You could have been there by now!
