Hi all.

SpeakerPower did see a raise in issues with the 2400w amplifiers that were built within the first 2 weeks in March and was able to trace it down to a component that was slightly out of spec. They made advanced replacements available. We sent back all the amplifiers that were built during that time frame. I'm really sorry for any inconvenience that this cause.

Very interesting point.

I am sure the back and forth shipping and customer service etc. cut into the already razor-thin margin of an Internet Direct company. I don't envy your job Jeff. Keep up the great work - I'm thankful JTR is around.

Jeff has always taken care of issues which happens to everybody at one time or another. It is easy to kick people when they are down, when they get back up swinging is when the OH **** happens. I still remember the old 888s on tv stands with the 4 slant 8s for surrounds(2006).

Let clarify it a bit that you also run your bass +10 hot, so you are at reference 115db at -10MV. I can always tell the difference, it’s just more pronounce at higher MV.

Talking Loving the 4000ULF!

Watched Hunter Killer last night with my JTR 4000ULF and I'm still smiling ear to ear today from all that bass, it must be damaging my house somewhere. I want to try my sub at the rear of theater up on the riser next to second row seats. Currently it's on carpeted concrete basement floor directly under and in line with screen so I'm interested in hearing/feeling any differences. I'm still using my old $200 Sony STR-DH810 receiver and after recalibrating it works for now until I figure out best way to get to 7.1.4. (room is prewired for 9.4.6). Fun stuff fellows!!!

Sony HW45ES - Seymour Center Stage XD 145" 16:9 - Sony PS3/4 - Sony STR DH810 - (LR) Paradigm Monitor 9v1 - (C) Polk CSI A6 - (SR) Yamaha satellites - JTR 4000ULF

Loving the JTR 212RTs!!

I recently purchased three JTR 212RTs and will be getting in a Cherry-5 amp to pair. I'll need a few days to listen to the pair but I plan to come back with a full review. I am running them full range until I can afford to buy some subs (preferably two JTR 4000ULF-LP). So far running them temporarily on a single Crown XLS 2502 in stereo mode and they sound phenomenal. The imaging is so amazing that I have convinced everyone who listened to them that the center 212RT speaker (currently not connected) is playing all of the content. Movies have amazing dynamics and can easily startle you with gunshots or surprise explosions. I can't help but smile every time i listen to them. I have never had that experience with my definitive technology speakers or any speakers for that matter. Just wanted to share my quick preview review. More to come with pictures once I actually have it setup and dialed in. :-)

Thanks,
Jerry

Is it too simple of an idea to block the ports of a 4000ULF to get a feeling for what a Captivator S2 is like?

When you move it to the riser your tactile response should be astonishing vs the concrete floor.

Somewhat... I mean you could, but the DSP for the s2 is going to be different from the DSP for the 4k so in the end, you won't get the best idea of what an S2 can do exactly.

Yes indeed.

The JTR Noesis 212HTs provide the mid bass slam that I have yearned for so long. Rather than bass below 30Hz, now I also look for chest thumps in movies.

On top of the ULF ( yes, very hot 8Hz ), the mid-bass slam from the 50 cal just pounds!!!

More mid-bass slam...

Speakers: L/C/R: JTR Neosis 212HT. Surrounds: Jamo C103, KEF Q100, Polk Audio RTiA3.
Subwoofer: JTR Captivator 4000ULF.
AVR: Denon AVR-X4400H. TV: Samsung UN75NU8000FXZA.

FS: Jamo C103, KEF Q100 and Polk RTiA3

There is only one reason Manufacturers don’t send their subs for third party independent testing. And it ain't the shipping costs. 🧐

Chunky, your setup has become quite remarkable. Nice work Sir!

Can anyone send a link for the newer plate amp functions. ( I have 2 x S1's).I looked back in the threads but can’t find a functional description. Thanks.

Switch
  • On - Amp stays on all the time
  • Auto - Amp will turn on with signal and shut off after a period of time with no signal
  • Off/12V - Amp is off but can also be triggered on/off with 12V trigger

Gain - The amp has a fixed gain of +45 dB. With the Gain knob all the way up, the amp will reach maximum power with only 316mV. Turn the Gain knob down to lower the incoming input voltage.

LF Adjust - This adjusts the slope of the low frequency roll-off with a hinge of ~35Hz. Note that it has changed since measured below in 2016.

Crossover - This adjusts the low pass filter of the subwoofer. It should typically be set to off. Your processor or receiver will handle the low pass filter.

Delay - This will allow you to delay a subwoofer up to 20 ms. This can be used to delay a closer subwoofer to match a further away subwoofer. Usually the processor/receiver will be used to set the delay of the subwoofer system.

Use the XLR input if you have balanced output and the RCA Left Input/LFE if you have unbalanced output from your processor/receiver. The XLR Looping Output can be used to send the original signal to another subwoofer.

The top 12V trigger allows one to turn on the amp from a 12V trigger on a processor/receiver. The bottom 12V trigger is for looping the signal to another subwoofer or device like the projector, retractable screen, or amplifier.

Thanks Desertdome, that helps a lot. It was more the function of the "LF adjust" I was after and graph clearly explains that.
