Mid-Bass Demo Disc Volume 1

LastButNotLeast and superleo present a BD9 (a DVD-DL that can be read by most BD players) that is a compilation of scenes with emphasis around 100Hz. This should be good material for testing crossover settings, as well as evaluating the "need" for a mid-bass module:
https://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-su...-response.html

The selections, with more thanks to superleo, conveniently listed on a downloadable BD case cover:

The torrent is not compressed in any way, so it will download as a standard BD folder and should burn to a DVD-DL directly.
Excellent directions, including modifications that may be necessary for playback on a PS3, are available here:

The zipped torrent file is attached.

Download that file, unzip it, and open the resultant file with uTorrent or the downloader of your choice.
And please, as a courtesy to others, continue to seed [make a copy of the downloaded disc so you can seed the original].

Leo was also kind enough to make a disc label:

My sincere thanks once again to superleo for all his hard work with Scenarist. To him goes the credit for the excellent menu system and graphics. I'll accept most of the blame for anything you don't like.

THIS DISC IS NOT TO BE SOLD AT ANY TIME BY ANY INDIVIDUAL OR ORGANIZATION. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Try not to annoy the neighbors too much.

Enjoy.
Michael

This disc should be a quick download for most, so please as a courtesy to others seed so everyone interested in getting this disc have the chance to download it.

I have some new favorite demo clips from this disc...

Feel free to give your feedback on what you like and what you don't like and how the clips play on "your" AV setups.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the hard work! Seeding now.
The Dolby Labs trailer, Terminator Salvation Intro and the House of Flying Daggers scene will all be added to my personal "best of" demo folder.
A suggestion for vol2 would be the final few minutes in the movie Lucy.
Again, great work and big thanks!

Noticed that the John Wick clip isn't in ATMOS... just Dolby Digital?

That's correct. This isn't an Atmos disc, just a collection of mid-bass. I thought the surround sound was still pretty good (without Atmos ).
And that's how those of us in NJ drive.

Yup, I gotcha..... just curious since there were other clips with ATMOS sound included is all... But ya, that clip really does make me miss my '69 Mustang that I had in high school!!

Is there a free program that will let me mount the blu ray disc image to play this without burning to a disc?

You can play the m2ts files in the STREAM folder. You just lose the menu functionality (which will make superleo very unhappy).
I'm pretty sure Kodi will play the disc, but I'm not familiar enough with it to offer assistance.
Do you have software now for BD playback?

I don't think so. I normally play BR discs with my ps4.

If I put the downloaded file onto a usb drive can I play it on a ps4 or by plugging that into an LG OLED?

After reading the information linked in the first post, looks like multiAVCHD can generate something I can load to a usb drive and play on ps3. (ps4 also I assume?)

Don't know anything about PS4. Anyone? Might need to look/ask in the PS3/4 section.
Playing it on the TV, even if it's possible, might give you picture and, at best, stereo, which kind of defeats the purpose.

So far I have not been able to get a menu working from USB stick into either ps4 or LG OLED tv. Should I be able to? Can I burn the mid bass demo disc image to a DVD or do I need a blu ray burner?

PS4 is playing video clips but no audio, when I browse to and open files from the STREAM folder.

When I plug the USB stick directly into my LG OLED I get audio on most clips but not all. The audio plays through my Denon AVR via toslink cable frm the tv. Same situation as ps4 where I have to browse to the STREAM folder.

The whole point to these BD9 discs is that you burn them to an 8.5GB DVD-DL and play them back as a BD. Please try that.

Thanks guys ( @LastButNotLeast & @superleo )
Spent some time on Tuesday and watched through the all clips - great collection. Good variety of source material IMO. My one main conclusion so far is that my system is seriously lacking in mid-bass at the moment :-)
Oh well, I guess that's my goal - figuring this out. So I'll be using these to do some testing. Thanks again!

Plain and simple, you will need to do some research to see what the streaming/file playback capabilities of your various devices... as you are finding out, there are differences between what video and audio codecs are supported by either streaming via network or via USB on each device.

It's been around $250 if you look around (but you missed Black Friday, unfortunately).
That's what got me started on this collection in the first place.

Does +R and -R exist for dvd dl and does that matter?

Thanks, I've got my own plans in the works for designing a cabinet that includes a couple of MBMs. Otherwise that B1200D would be a great option. And essentially that is what I'm looking for sound wise.
