No, I've never gotten that in the years I've used it. I get it directly.

Watching The Mummy (2017) right now and the bass is pretty fun! I know the cut of the low end but it’s a decent 25-30hz bass flick! All around audionis great!

I haven't heard of IMGburn causing any issues. It is not the only option, but it works.

And it looks like those are all real 4K releases, too!

This is EXCELLENT news! Especially since most releases are fake or nearly 4K.

That's why i love movies that are shot on film. If Nolan shot 3.4K digital and did a 2K finish or upscale to 4K the same crap we are seeing now, we would of been getting pure garbage in return. I Don't understand how they can shoot movies in 8K, 6.5K, 4K and then give a 2K upscale and digital intermediate.

“The wonderful thing about 4K technology is it gets closer to the resolution that we shot in film,” he tells the outlet. “Photochemically finished films of 35mm have at least 6K resolution, IMAX films, upwards of 18K. So as home video formats keep evolving, 4K — particularly 4K with HDR, it allows us to give somebody at home an experience that’s much much closer to what it was like to see the original film prints as projected on film.”

Nolan also confirmed that he is “very much” personally involved with the restoration process, however, don’t necessarily expect to see the 4K editions right away “It’s a long, complicated process that we’re doing right now,” he said, “but I think the results I’m seeing are very pleasing and very spectacular.” Watch what he had to say in the video below.

I just watched The Mummy (2017) and I'm beyond words... I can't believe I sat through that rubbish!

I had to put Tron: Legacy in to make sure my sound was working properly and to watch up to the light cycle race to enjoy a GOOD MOVIE with GOOD SOUND tonight, because that Dolby Atmos didn't do Dick Tracy all throughout the movie, in my opinion! I thought I was gonna turn into a Mummy watching that bollocks waiting for an actual good story to turn up at some point in that trainwreck!

To be fair, when I wrote my early post I was 20 minutes in...it had decent bass early on but did lose its luster as the movie went on. Yes...overall the movie was terrible.

Wow! Just watched the twister scene in Oz-The Great and Powerful. Anyone looking for a great demo for their subwoofers and surrounds needs to check this one out!
Hopefully going to watch it this weekend with my daughter.

I remember several months ago I was stupid by coming in here and posting the trailer for The Mummy. Because that trailer genuinely made me interested in the movie with amount of bass insanity it had. Some of you told me it's just how Tom Cruise rolls, he's a maniac basshead.

The movie? Did Tom Cruise hit is head for real? Where's this so called basshead obsession?

Don't take my word for it... you may like it.

I remember going to see Van Helsing (2004) with two of my best buddies. Me and and one of my buddies were laughing our arses off because we thought it was so ridiculous (we were pretty much the only ones laughing in the theater at the "serious" action scenes). My other buddy was quiet (kind of irritated that we were dismissively laughing), intent on watching the film for which I found out he later enjoyed.

Different strokes for different folks!

Thanks for the info !
So did you watch it yet?

I finally got a chance to spin the 4K/UHD with Atmos track and it delivered the Goods.
There's no real room shaking Bass, but what was there matched the on-screen action and there was a LOT.

If you like Music, Car chases (Gymkhana style stunts),
Gun shots creatively cued to the music score, with Gobbs of action,
....well its' a Winner for me, no regrets at all. Will get several repeat views in my HT.

The Video Quality wasn't quite up to par compared most of my 4K's
and HDR didn't come into effect nearly often enough.
But that Atmos track was a Winner!

This was a Blind Buy for me because friends that know me told me I would like it.
But I usually follow Ralphs' reviews right here on AVS before I head off to Best Buy.

...He scored the Atmos Audio with a perfect 100

I'm just now finishing Baby Driver, and the 5.1 DTS-MA rental/bluraysoundtrack is a blast! It has very solid bass, but it's not quite as powerful as Scott Pilgrim or over the top like Hot Fuzz, but rather a blend of those two films that fits Baby Driver very well.

I can't speak to how much better the Atmos soundtrack is, but according to those reviews, the HD track has its advantages. However, for those that don't have a 4K screen, I can't imagine the Atmos is a good enough upgrade from the 5.1 track on its own to warrant the extra $10 for the UHD disc. I highly recommend giving Baby Driver a spin!

To be fair the UHD was $28 at BB vs $20...I rounded up but it'll probably be $30 soon. In the case of Baby Driver, I'd still say the 5.1 track upmixed into 5.1.4 sounded fantastic...nothing neutered about this rental.

Believe me, I was all gung ho on Atmos this year and bought the Sony UHD player because I was tired of seeing Atmos exclusive to the format on must have movies; but at the time I didn't realize a lot of rentals discs also were going to shed the HD audio. I'm trying to spend less on movies this year by renting more films that have less replay value, but getting shafted with the neutered rental audio makes it a difficult decision.

There have been times I rented a movie and the bass track warranted an immediate purchase, i.e. 13 Hours, but the rental disc also had the HD audio. I'm sure it's an extremely small minority that do this, so I can see how it's not worth the licensing and whatever other fees the studios save by downgrading the audio. To me, it just makes the product feel cheap (which technically rentals are). If it hadn't of been for this forum, I probably wouldn't have bought Deep Water Horizon because of the severely neutered bass on the rental.

Imagine for the video quality, if they took an actual 4K master and down sampled it to 2K for the UHD rental to save money or reward those that purchase the retail copy.

I have a tightwad buddy that refuses to go 4K or to pay full price on Blurays
So I sell him all my BD's out of my 4K combo packs for $10

Win Win.

The irony of your statement is since you're talking about Baby Driver, the 4K UHD is actually not real 4K, but I highlighted and colorized the statement below since there is improvement over the standard blu-ray, which is what really matters to many people. Plus HDR, in addition to the Dolby Atmos soundtrack previously mentioned, is something to also consider over the standard blu-ray disc as well.

It is not real 4K in any material way due to having a final master at 2K. Studios have upscaled the 2K image to 4K and retouched the content for your 4K UHD TV. You should see some visual improvement over a standard 1080p Blu-ray. Check the information below to see if the studios have upgraded the video with HDR or added immersive Dolby Atmos or DTS:X audio tracks.

  • VFX Rendered in 2K (limited use)

The most noticeable difference in most 4K UHD's (visually)
Is the HDR and WCG, Resolution has the least impact... in my experience.

Great source of info here: http://www.acousticfrontiers.com/uhd-101-v2/

Both my 4K players (Panasonic UB900, Oppo 203) upscale my 1080 BD's to 4K

(Cars 3 preview from my 1080p Pirates of the Caribbean DMTNT 2D disc)

Regular bluray is 8 Bit, 4K/UHD/HDR is 10 Bit, 4K/UHD with Dolby Vision is 12 Bit

These shots from my samsung smartphone of my 65" OLED are all 4K/DV

Next week is Spider-Man Homecoming , the following week Valerian
and next month is The Dark Tower and Atomic Blonde ...all in 4K/Dolby Vision

...sorry for going off topic

Man...

Now I feel like a weirdo because I actually was more impressed with Baby Driver on Blu-Ray than Transformer 5... I fell asleep during Transformer 5. I should add that I love the Transformer franchise.

I think the bass for Baby Driver on Blu-Ray is decent.

Ahhh, I forgot about Wide Color Gamut... your posts parallel what Linus Tech Tips had to say about 4K UHD discs (particularly Life of Pi) last year...

This is the first movie that's made me sit up and go, "Wow! Now that I've seen the HDR version, I have no desire whatsoever to settle for the blu-ray. Words don't do it justice - it's absolutely beautiful!"
