Wind River...Mr.G you hit it on the nail when you recommended this one way back when. Great movie with an old fashioned style to the action unfolding. Loved the high-powered rifle effects...all in all a very sleeper type audio mix with great storytelling.
Original Blade Runner in 4K....They really had fun with this Atmos track...lots and lots of activity in the tops and surrounds. Didn't expect this to be so bass-sexy. Deckard's gun sounded like a cannon, and the music had chunks of powerful bass. What a weird flick with lots of layers concerning its characters...definitely ahead of its time.
Blade Runner 2049....Phenomenal....some of the best movie making I've seen in the last few years. Great pacing and clear storytelling. Phenomenal visuals that looked heavenly on disc and a soundmix that is one of the best I've ever heard. Just about perfect Atmos implemetation, and a bass-monster on top of that. Fantastically shot...camera work, eye for aesthetics, long, slow shots, scene construction...characters saying 1000 words with just their expressions..... Gorgeous women, and again smartly used action sequences....bravo....very well done....Mr. Villenueve has been on a tear with his last handful of films.
Star Wars-The Last Jedi......I kicked this up by 10 db and let it rip....wow what a fun track...not much in the height channels but the rest of the Atmos mix was really tight...definitely had plenty of bass-sexy moments, with very nice surround activity. I love this movie and had just as much fun with it at home as I did when I saw it in the AMC Prime. Also, the center channel/dialogue was mixed so clearly and gently in front of the rest of the mix...which allowed me to notice that every little bit of dialogue was supremely easy to hear and rang clear as a bell well into the listening space....yummy. The moments with Rae and Kylo communicating sounded so awesome....the visuals were great as well, the salt mines scenes were glorious on 4k disc...as were the facial close-ups of Rae, lol. I didn't have any issues with elevated black levels....only times this arose were if there was a blast of light occurring in space, or an object emmitting light around it, or a screen flare, etc...which would be natural for the dark sky of space to lighten up a bit in such instances.
