It happened to me as well. My last post was supposedly under the Hulk graph and then shows up on the next page.
You guys need to treat the room or upgrade the speakers, I watch at MV 0 all the time and it sounds great! MV 0 and subs bumped up 12 dB hot works for me. This could be why less than stellar bass movies bring the bass. It is funny when my closed theater doors blow open! I have sliding lock on top of one of the doors and always gets vibrated loose and then the pressure opens the doors. I have not watched TIH since changing my system, it is going in tonight. I don't have the 4k version yet but the LFE seems about a 1-1.5 dB hotter than the Blu-ray.

I've doubled my output since this vid. Theres no ported subs blowing on candles a foot away like in the IMAX vids. All sealed subs.

I'll have to reshoot this and see if I can best this. My goal was [email protected] but I don't know if I can pull that off.

OMG! Blowing candles.

When is there going to be a Subwoofer Grand Prix? This is where we make paper boats and put them in a swimming pool and everyone tries to use low bass to move the boat to finish line.

Wind River...Mr.G you hit it on the nail when you recommended this one way back when. Great movie with an old fashioned style to the action unfolding. Loved the high-powered rifle effects...all in all a very sleeper type audio mix with great storytelling.

Original Blade Runner in 4K....They really had fun with this Atmos track...lots and lots of activity in the tops and surrounds. Didn't expect this to be so bass-sexy. Deckard's gun sounded like a cannon, and the music had chunks of powerful bass. What a weird flick with lots of layers concerning its characters...definitely ahead of its time.

Blade Runner 2049....Phenomenal....some of the best movie making I've seen in the last few years. Great pacing and clear storytelling. Phenomenal visuals that looked heavenly on disc and a soundmix that is one of the best I've ever heard. Just about perfect Atmos implemetation, and a bass-monster on top of that. Fantastically shot...camera work, eye for aesthetics, long, slow shots, scene construction...characters saying 1000 words with just their expressions..... Gorgeous women, and again smartly used action sequences....bravo....very well done....Mr. Villenueve has been on a tear with his last handful of films.

Star Wars-The Last Jedi......I kicked this up by 10 db and let it rip....wow what a fun track...not much in the height channels but the rest of the Atmos mix was really tight...definitely had plenty of bass-sexy moments, with very nice surround activity. I love this movie and had just as much fun with it at home as I did when I saw it in the AMC Prime. Also, the center channel/dialogue was mixed so clearly and gently in front of the rest of the mix...which allowed me to notice that every little bit of dialogue was supremely easy to hear and rang clear as a bell well into the listening space....yummy. The moments with Rae and Kylo communicating sounded so awesome....the visuals were great as well, the salt mines scenes were glorious on 4k disc...as were the facial close-ups of Rae, lol. I didn't have any issues with elevated black levels....only times this arose were if there was a blast of light occurring in space, or an object emmitting light around it, or a screen flare, etc...which would be natural for the dark sky of space to lighten up a bit in such instances.

Projector - JVC RS4910, Speakers - JBL Studio L890's fronts, L820's surrounds, L810's rears, L C2 center (blown tweeter, replaced with Martin Logan Motion 50XT center), Polk Audio OWM-5's for four Atmos ceiling speakers. Subwoofers - dual PSA V3600's, AVR - Yamaha 3040 with Crown XLS-1500 amps running the center and front towers. Bluray Player - Oppo BDP-105D, UHD 4K player - Philips BDP-7501. Projection Screen - 150" Elite Screens.

Saw this in a Dolby cinema on sunday and a standard AMC theater today. Have to say the Dolby was hands down better. Better detail in darker scenes....the sound was incredible as well (impressive for a movie where everyone was supposed to be quiet, lol). I love watching movies at the theater but if you have a capable home theater and can wait for it to arrive on Blu-ray, more power to you!

The original Blade Runner is now in 4K ?!!

Is it good enough to tell everyone - "I've seen things.... you people wouldn't believe"

May have to get this just for the Vangelis soundtrack.

Yeah since last year. It's most definitely is worth it for the Native 4K Remaster and Dolby Atmos track.

Hulk 4K arrived today! I haven't heard it on a worthy system before.....and honestly, it goes lower than my PB16's do, so I'm missing some.

I purposely listened at -8MV, so 2dB softer than normal. Just to make sure I didn't break anything.

Think TIH may have just dethroned BR2049 as the favorite bass flick in my collection. And I'm no videophile, but it looked GREAT to me!

Awesome movie

Played hooky from work and watched Blade Runner: The Final Cut (1982) in Dolby Atmos and WOW!! This is almost as potent bass-wise as 2049! I haven't seen this movie in ages and it holds up extremely well with the overhead, object-based, ATMOSpheric effects heartily engaging your journey into the dreams of electric sheep!

After that I watched Starship Troopers: Traitor Of Mars in Dolby Atmos and I was thoroughly engaged in the storyline, CGI animation as well as the Atmos soundtrack and bass. I would definitely recommend a viewing if you can rent it!

EDIT: I just realized the graph is for the DTS-HD MA version... looks like I'll be graphing the 4K UHD Dolby Atmos in a while!

Subwoofers: PSA S3000i x 2 | L+R Front: Onkyo SKF-200F | Center: Onkyo SKC-200C | L+R Surround: Onkyo SKM-200S | Atmos: Pioneer SP-T22A-LR | AVR: Yamaha RX-A660BL | HTPC: Lenovo Q190

Followed it up with TLJ. Not bad... I did bump the volume up to reference (usually watch around -10) and bumped up the subs 6 db's (above my already hot level). With doing that it was very enjoyable, but not as good as Jumanji. We watched Jumanji at -6.
Watched them in the opposite order. I didn't find TLJ had as much "political" overtones as some criticisms of it have stated - not that really stood out to me, at any rate - but I found it a poorly written script. Character development was bad, the story line just not focused enough. It seemed like a movie looking for a reason to be. Sound was good though, no doubt about that.

Jumanji, on the other hand, was great. Nice flip on the original story as a sequel, good casting and acting, and great sound as well. Thoroughly enjoyable "romp" in the Jungle.

This Dolby Atmos version is debatably a tad better than the DTS-HD MA version if not for the boost at the 30Hz region, though it is bested at around 62-63Hz in favor of the DTS-HD MA track.

At any rate, it was a funtastic ride down the Bass Slide!

Netflix: Nocturne

Once again Netflix is flexing their Atmos and UHD abilities. But not with the shows and movies we wish they were but with another odd, though no where near as odd as Meridian, short. Like Meridian, this one appears in 60fps 4k and DD+ Atmos. No real bass to speak of here but the 12min. short film does have some very nicely done height effects while the music plays and dancers set about doing ballet. The music, though not my bag per se, is immaculately recorded and so is the ultra clear 4k video. Also like Meridian, the image clarity rivals the best I've seen, especially from a streaming outlet, for lack of artifacts and realism.

I for one hope this is a sign of more things to come from Netflix. Not so much the content itself but how well it is presented. I have been sad to see so many recent new releases from them lacking Atmos after the semi-strong roll out of the capability so many months ago. The number of Atmos releases has all but stopped after the second season of Jessica Jones last month but the new original content just keeps right on coming, missing the all important capability. I'm sure some of it has to do with all the shows that began being produced before the capability was adopted but I certainly hope things kick back into gear very soon and we see much more than original Netflix content take advantage.

Just to do all I can I send email to Netflix every month or so asking that more Atmos content and that not just their own be presented using the platform. I also go on the Xbox app and search for Atmos titles at least once a day in the hopes they are keeping track. This may do nothing but best case they are tracking the number of searches and see that we like what they are doing and want more of it. I'm taking the squeaky wheel approach with them and urge all of you to do the same if you too find heightened enjoyment from content with the capability.

Cheers Bass Brethren.

Hi there, just now listening to Dunkirk and would like to confirm if what I hear correlates with your graph. Question: does the time at the top of your graph correlate to the time on the movie?

For example, I seem to hear sound distoriton at 26:20 to 26:40 (bombing of the Dunkirk dock) - is that the big red block on your graph at the same time? Thanks for the good work.

That image isn't the graph, it only shows each channel from the 5.1 track.
the red parts in above image shows the times where clipping occurs.
unfortunately i no longer have the film so i cant give exact times.

The image below is the entire film bass graph but it only shows Max dB, Average dB and Hz

I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them last night

Wasn't really a fan of Harry Potter, and thought this movie was so/so BUT the bass, and especially near the end, was fantastic. Totally made the movie fun to watch.

Right off the bat, as the ship descends for the first time, the sonic intensity at reference level is off-the-charts. Full stage saturation and intense, room-rattling bass plop the listener not into the action, but seemingly right inside the ship's thrusters. A space battle in chapter 15 is another example of the track's unflinching eagerness to make itself the loudest home viewing experience one will encounter. Even with all the mayhem, spacial awareness and detail are always key, even when the track is throwing the proverbial sonic kitchen sink at the listener. Small ticks and rattles inside the ship are always evident, and the top end engages in both the action excess and in support of the finer environmental cues that often give the show an added layer of charm. Dialogue is just fine and plays as the most balanced element in the film. This is a very fun and hugely aggressive track; just keep that finger on the volume button.

I wanted to share this info that might be useful to others. Yesterday I received The Incredible Hulk 4K UHD. I bought it because I've owned the DVD for 10 years but have never seen the Blu-ray so it was for that and so that in the future when I get a 4k tv I can watch it.

Well I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to play the 4K version on my Xbox One S. Expecting to get an error like your tv is not 4k compliant etc etc and hit a dead end....but instead it worked!!

I didn't expect for the Xbox's 4k player to down convert 4k to 1080p on its own. Maybe you all know it does this but I didn't. So I was able to watch it on DTS:X even tho my height channels aren't connected yet.

But anyways yeah for those who own a Xbox one s but no 4k tv, you can still enjoy the UHD audio! If everyone already knew this then pardon me cuz I had no clue lol. I was recently looking into a Sony x700 or x800 just for that downconversion reason, but I guess I can skip it for now.

I didn't get to try other 4k's yet to see if it was just T.I.H. or if they'll all work, but figured I'd give those who might not know a heads up!

Hey everyone, i can't find any graphs for the movie Avatar, i did a search before posting this. I was so hooked to this movie i went 4 times to watch in the cinemas and 7+ (don't actually remember how many) times at home . But you know cinemas only go to 30hz, maybe 25hz, specially those in 2009. I wonder what the low end looks like.

I have done this with ST:TLJ and The Greatest Showman. I don't have a 4k capable receiver or projector and they worked fine on my xbox one s. I'm not sure if the picture is better or not, but I know it does work.
