Well, don’t know what’s wrong with me, but i watched Hurricane Heist last night, and i loved it !

So much flac given in here about it, so went in with low expetations, but i ended up smiling trough the whole thing

The LFE/ ULF was of the chain! Holy canoly the single digits really gave my Crowsons a workout, i seldom see the temp gage i have on one of them go up that high, and i even turned down the LFE channel before starting, because of what i read about the LFE in here.
It also had a awesome Atmos track, with very creative use of heights. It really felt like beeing inside the hurricane, LOL.

And hey: i have seen MUCH worse acting and plot, so this will be watched again, for sure. Entertainment factor 11!!

Hey guys. Was watching Prometheus in 3d. I don't tinker much with Audyssey much. I noticed yesterday that the EQ is +6 at 25hz. However, when I go to Sub's EQ section it shows 0dbl. Does this mean that because everything is crossed at 80hz that the Sub EQ portion doesn't matter?

Finally watched Pacific Rim 2, Redbox is in Atmos. As previously mentioned, the bass is quite disappointing in regards to the first. It feels like nothing but 35Hz and above, but there’s plenty of it. It’s definitely not as bad as ST: Beyond, but the difference in extension between the first and second Pac Rim is night and day, has some great mid/upper bass though. Movie itself is solid.

Coming from Hurricane Heist as my last bass film did set the audio bar high. Looking forward to some more monster bass films with summer/fall home releases.

Didn't see it in theater. How did people like this movie? I'm assuming by "mental" you meant the bass given the thread we are in?

Bass, action and visuals. It's amazing to see all the characters from movies to video games show up. It will be fun picking them out after a few viewings.

Cool - I may just pre-order without having seen it. Hey I ordered Hurricane Heist without seeing it first so by that standard I have no excuse not to order.

Aside from possibly the amount of ULF on the disc (hard to judge without one in hand, but the bar is set pretty high!), there is no way in which this was not a better movie than that. Order away!

Watched it in the theaters and I was into it with all the 80's references. The kids were into it from the video game aspect it was a Win win situation. Excellent movie will have to buy it soon.

Watched the new Jurassic World this weekend and my girlfriend who is not into bass, was like dang this movie has a lot of bass. There was a lot of chest punch in the theater we went too during the Jurassic World. Movie wasn't too bad also, if you liked the other one.

Definitely not a better movie than the first one, but some pretty good bass to shake your place! The secondary and tertiary characters are obviously not as charismatic as Sly and Arnold in the first iteration of what has obviously become a franchise, but the bass overtakes, especially near the end, to make amends... for these cinema sins.

Will streams from Vudu have 20Hz bass, or do you need the Blu-ray?

Unless they mess with the mix it should all be the same when it comes to the bass.

I like Vudu UHD (DV/Atmos) audio the best of all my streaming sources, though of course I prefer the physical disc in all cases.

Vudu HDX streams though, I sometimes don't like so much.

*edit* I don't currently have a source that supplies Netflix in Atmos, though; as I don't own an LG OLED nor an Xbox.

TCL 55P607, OPPO UDP-203, 4K Fire TV, Marantz 6011, Rotel 1075 (Atmos)
DefTech SM 65 (X7), SVS PB16 Ultra (X2), SVS Prime Elevation (X4)
Headphone rig: PC-> Schiit Wyrd ->Schiit Modi Multibit ->Stax SRM-353X ->THX AAA 789
Headphones: Stax SR-207, Stax SR-L700, M1060, TH-X00 Purpleheart, HD600, HD6XX, etc

Sweet! Enjoyed it in theaters and suspected it had some decent ULF but couldn’t tell how strong with only a tiny bit creeping into the seats. I thought A Quiet Place was a great little suspense/horror genre film with a unique spin.

Although 20Hz is the frequency my walls resonate the most and my PJ does vibrate some during heavy scenes...

Sweet Sekosche that you can get some shaking, but what mount are you using for your projector? Is one of your subs near your projector?

It’s a cheap wall specific PJ mount, maybe $30, but I think it’s how I have it anchored to the wall in the middle of a board that spans two studs (no stud on center), and ceiling mounting isn’t an option. I’ve been meaning to add some dampening material between a few parts or try a different mount. The shaking is usually only noticeable on 20-25Hz content near reference/above ~110dB, but it looks like your vision is blurring when it’s just the screen. The opening of Blade Runner 2049 and similar scenes cause the PJ/image to shake.

I am worried about the vibration, because I’m about to build two more nearfield subs for behind the couch/back wall the PJ is mounted on. Any suggestions?

Wow Sekosche, looks cool. I was going to suggest a joist type mount like mine, but you said ceiling is not an option. Not sure if some sort of foam between the board and wall would help. near reference and adding 2 more.... You may have to name your theater Shakey's Theater. I will think about a few possible options, such as a thicker board/shelf option that may help reduce projector vibration.

Sekosche, box of anti vibration pads? They come in different sizes, and could be inserted with a pilot hole for some of your bolts?

Thanks!

This is the most common suggestion, will probably try neoprene pads or rubber washers. Luckily it’s a minor vibration but it does briefly blur the image when certain hard hitting ULF strikes and is annoying.

I know there’s bassheads here with way more capable systems, but the only thing I see most people complain about is their screen physically moving during extreme bass due to port wind or vibration, so I guess it’s more a PJ mounting/structural issue on my side.

I think you are seeing that Audyssey saw that your room and sub interaction needed a boost of 6dB at 25Hz to get a flat frequency response. The 0 dB of the sub “EQ” may have just been the sub level and not an EQ. If you increase your sub level in the receiver menus this number should increase if that is what it actually is.

I know there’s bassheads here with way more capable systems, but the only thing I see most people complain about is their screen physically moving during extreme bass due to port wind or vibration, so I guess it’s more a PJ mounting/structural issue on my side.

You may have to cut some drywall and reinforce your wall studs. Then consider placing additional plywood or MDF layers with green glue in between ... between the current mount and the drywall. If your projector is mounted to a standard construction wall without double 5/8” Sheetrock and green glue in between each layer that wall likely gets a ton of vibration at different frequencies. (Not saying the double drywall and green glue eliminates all vibration but it greatly reduces it).
