Will have to try out the atmos thru Xbox, currently watching thru roku ultra.
Im watching in Atmos through my Xbox one, and I think that was one of the scenes that I got asked to turn it down by my GF.

I feel the same way about Denon's wording. It's really strange that they mention those two.

Some people were raising the DRC concern with the Atmos tracks on either Thor: Ragnarok or Black Panther. One of those two, but I can't remember which. (60% certain it was Thor.)

Wow,the Constantine City of Demons have the same heavy bass track from The Death of Superman as @SuperFist mentioned before. The Church and Hospital fight scene is so awesome. If you like to watch DC anime films then this one is good to go. Much better than the Justice League Dark.

I just checked the Atmos tracks for both of those, and neither show any metadata. Both of their AC3 tracks do, though, which is consistent with all of the others I've looked at.

It's weird to me that there would be no metadata, because both of those tracks clearly engage the DRC on my Marantz. Black Panther was really noticeable, because I had to factory reset my receiver and I played it again and it sounded weak, and then I immediately went into the settings and changed the DRC to off and the sound was dynamic and punchy (if low volume) like I remembered. They definitely engage the DRC setting if you don't have it off.

Thanks for sharing that experience. I definitely want to test Black Panther, and from what you're saying, the difference should definitely show up on an SPL meter.

Then the factory reset is why DRC was on. That is the default setting from factory.

Underworld:Awakening:

Level - 5 Stars (113.57dB composite)
Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz)
Dynamics - 3 Stars (23.13dB)
Execution - 5 Stars - This film is very much like Tron:Legacy without the clipping.

Overall - 4.5 Stars

Just finished watching that Hotel Artemis movie and that will be two hours I won't get back...lesson learned. Back to the bass...I do want to purchase the HULK movie and I know this has been talked about before but which HULK movie is the best with regards to the BASS! Also I believe that the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie wasn't good from previous posts?...any bass movie suggestions for this weekend at Redbox?

If you have a Pitch Black Velvet Bat-Cave with 100% light control, it's easy...with JVC's legendary Black Levels

I turn the projector on, drop the 120" 16:9 electric screen in front of the little 65" OLED,

Then just turn the lights off ...Boom! Scope Image!

Sometimes I use the remote to raise the screen about 8" from the bottom position
(still low enough to hide the OLED, but eliminates the bottom "black bar")

We’re watching A Haunted Mansion (2003) with Eddie Murphy now, definitely has solid bass for a Halloween family flick! I didn’t see a graph anywhere online, but if you’ve got kids give it a spin.

Speakers: PSA MTM-210T x2, MTM-210C, MT-110SR x2; Atmos-SVS Satellite x2, DIY Volt-10 x2
Subs: PSA V1801 x2, DIY: 18" RSS460HO, 15" RSS390HO x2, BOSS w/JBL CX1200 x6
MA’s: Crowson Tech x2
Processing: Denon X4200, NU6KDSP, 3KDSP

I came here to recommend The Haunting of Hill House but it looks like a few of you have already seen it. I’m only 20 minutes into the second episode and can’t differentiate between the walls rattling on screen or the walls rattling in my actual house. A lot of the cast and crew have a solid resume in the genre including movies like Oculus, Hush, Gerald’s Game, Ouija.

Nice surprise to stumble across on Netflix in time for Halloween. It’s pretty spooky so far.

Scary movies don't scare me anymore (torture porn is its own category and I can't handle that), but HOLY SH*T if I didn't get the heebie geebies watching the first couple of episodes of Hill House.
Spoiler!
I firmly believe the townhouse I lived in back in 2005-2010 was haunted, and anytime a film or show captures some of what I personally experienced while living there, I lose my mind. The BASSSSS that show brings to the table is unbelievable.

If you look up the "Ghost Frequency" on YouTube (it's something like 18hz) and play it on a capable system, you get that uneasy feeling, like something is lurking. Hill House has totally mastered this feeling. Absolutely amazing.

I'd say 90% of the scary factor in horror movies comes from the sound design or loudness of the effects, and they're pretty effective with it. Remove the sound, and there's nothing scary about it. Horror that doesn't rely heavily on jump scares is rare.

For Halloween flick with errie bass, I recommend The Conjuring and Exorcism of Emily Rose. Btw, @PioManiac , can you get graphs for those?
