Something similar to a waterfall graph with different axis definitions.
Before using the current PvA to rate an entire movie, we had 'bass waterfall' graphs from SpecrumLab that weren't 3D but graphed a scene in realtime. These are still useful (and used) today to graph the bass from a scene where the PvA graph is a 'whole picture' of the bass from a movie. A bass waterfall is a snapshot of one moment.

I like the waterfall graphs for the added scene depth and detail, but at a glance, it's definitely a lot messier. I still prefer the PvA graph for their simplicity and overall picture of a film's bass, even if it is sometimes skewed by select low frequency scenes.

Very cool! Thanks for the info. This is very similar to the concept I was describing with the difference being a specific minute or so scene vs an entire movie. I'd like to see for what amount of time a movie plays a specific frequency, and at what DB Level.

I watched The Raid 1 & 2 again, and was very impressed with the bass in the second film. If you haven't seen either movie, shame on you...no really, go watch them! They're easily some of best choreographed fight scenes ever recorded and just a brutal, dizzying display of martial arts. I haven't seen a bass graph of the second film, but it made my couch wobble in all the right ways with a very nice variety of bass. Perhaps not the most powerful content, but the Crowsons were helping dish out the low low.

Amazon has them both for $13.59 and I've seen them at BB and Walmart for $7 each in the bargain bins: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N2...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

What made the movies in the 80's was the great acting and story lines. If they had the audio and picture technology of today, I don't think they could be beat. I like platoon more for the humor.

On a side note, I am surprised Dr. Strange is not getting more buzz...Man that was a solid bass click! Movie was Ok

Great movies! How was the audio in the 1st one? It's been too long and I don't remember. As for the 2nd one, clean audio but not that powerfull on the bass (and that's OK!). How hot do you run your subs? I run mine +2dB post XT32 with DEQ on.

I completly agree. They had no choice but to work a lot more on the CONTENT back then rather than on the container like nowadays.

Seal team Eight behind enemy lines has lots of rumbles through out the entire movie. My couch was shaking for 1.5hrs. I remember mentioning it in the other bass thread a while back. Any chance, it can be graphed?

The Raid 1 has a great sound, both films are DTS-MA 5.1, and the effects are top notch (you can choose between two music tracks), but the first film has considerably less bass than the second. I run my subs 4-6dB over Audyssey, with a small +2dB house curve below 40Hz, and the nearfield MBMs and transducers really help the bottom end bass, so that helps with tracks that aren't quite as hot but still have terrific bass, which is how I'd label The Raid 2, solid 4 out of 5 star bass I'd say.

I heard there was a Raid 3 or maybe this was it in the works...sweet! I can't imagine how underwhelming the American remake will be. I have yet to find one that's half as good as the original, but I guess that's all Hollywood can do in this era of remakes and sequels, stick with a proven formula and let the $ roll in.

I don't even think you'd need a 3-axis graph, just an "average" graph that is showing the actual average of levels at that frequency over the runtime of the film, regardless of whether or not there's any SPL output at that frequency at a particular point in time. Obviously if the average graph of EoT is affected so drastically, it must be only showing average volumes for certain times in the film, e.g. the average 10hz output levels for 10hz material in the soundtrack.

I watched this a couple days ago, and while there is plenty of fun bass throughout, my favorite scene was basically the entire last act; the bass felt violent and unique, with terrific detail, and the track was very hot in the final scenes.

Lol basically, while watching The Raid I kept thinking how much the two had in common. Dredd came out the next year so perhaps there was some influence. 😉

The bass nod definitely goes to Dredd.

i skipped to 1 hour into Hacksaw ridge wtf man violent as hell, pretty freaking scary i had to turn it off. powerful bass thought. i will get back to it later on but it makes feel unsettled. if men had to go thought this type of madness why would any nation want to deal with this crap again unless its for power and profit? i think the people of the world is allot smarter now to avoid this. “start winning wars again” how about we don't get into any!.

There is an old latin proverb that says SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM (if you want peace, prepare for war). There will always be predators ready to feed on one's weakness.

War doesn't always mean peace and the predictors Ive seen are the ones that try to put fear in our hearts to push us into wars, so I'm not gullible or so optimistic or trustworthy when the first answer is bloodshed and loosing our friends and neighbors both physically and mentally. there will be time when we have to fight we all know that, but when i see us at war for since i was in elementary school and for the first 16 years of my sisters life it becomes pretty crazy to think this is now normal everyday America. most of us have friends and family from the Iraq war that's messed up physically, mentally or both. dealing with family and friends with ptsd and two suicides it forces you to change your whole outlook on life and war.

I did not say to go to war but to prepare for war (strong military). I agree with the rest of what you said and that mistakes were made.
