Still no Graph's from anyone yet (hint)
EVERY time the Eagles come up in conversation I think of that scene from that movie! One of my all time favorite films. I was going to wait and see if it would drop more in price, but I just ordered it. Need it now. Thanks for the push. Dude abides!

EDIT: Funny you ask that as I DID strongly resemble the dude back in the 90s ironically.

So I've heard. I remember liking the movie, so I'd be willing to give it a chance and see it for myself. Let's see if I can find it first . I also heard the bass in The Hobbit is a lost cause.

Surely it can’t be as bad as Revenge of the Sith....not just bad for a Star Wars movie but just plain bad. Terrible bass, mixing, dialog integration and I could go on and on. One of the biggest audio mix flops ever. Of course just my opinion.

Age of Ultron 4K UHD Atmos (TrueHD core) - subtle upgrade over the DTS-HD MA. Plenty of heavy mid bass slams. Very good dynamics. ULF in couple of scenes (Hulkbuster). In my books, this is close to demo worthy (contrary to bad press it gets)

They're certainly in the same ballpark from what I remember. Neither are good. Both have horrible execution. Throw in the latest Star Trek film (Beyond) and that would make one lame bass triple feature.

The PvA graph doesn't tell the full story, but the peak spectrum graph does!

As an example, here's the first Hobbit film. The peaks aren't terrible, it's just that they are so few and far between!

I do like those graphs, as well. Although I have to say, I don't fully understand them.

The y-axis represents time. But what is the x-axis? Frequency? But why does it look like the x-axis is split in the middle? Always looks like there are 2 graphs next to each other.

I just realized, it probably is. Could it be that, the one on the right is the actual graph and the one on the left is with BEQ?

You got it. Since this isn't the BassEQ thread, I would rather not post the comparison graph to eliminate any confusion, but it's so much easier since it's already done and uploaded and I don't feel like going back and running new graphs.

The PvA graph tells you the loudest peaks of the mix, but not how often they happen.

The peak spectrum graph tells you how loud they are and how often they happen. The one thing the peak spectrum is missing is how those hits coincide with the events on-screen, but it still tells us almost everything we want to know.

Gotcha thanks!

But for the future graphs, if I am allowed to wish for something, I would prefer a version without BEQ graph and instead, maybe extend the frequency range up to 120Hz so it does show the "full" LFE. 60-120Hz can be really fun as well

The addition of the peak spectrum graph is the most important addition to bass analysis since the PvA graphs themselves, for the reason quoted above. I actually started to shift my attention from the peak (green) line to the average (red) one to better asses the "quantity" of bass in a movie. The peak spectrum graphs helps to have a much better and clearer picture of the bass quantity in a movie. It still doesn't tell the whole story of course, like quality or execution, but comes pretty close. The color scheme is also far much easier to read once you get the hang of it. Spectrum graphs with multiple color were more confusing. In these spectrum graphs, the "brighter" the color tone the hottest a particular bass frequency is. Pretty easy!

Edit: I wanted to add that I'm not asking you to change your app. Someone said the "new" graphs layout were an improvement over the"classic" style, I just wanted to clarify why I didn't agree.
Ok right, I can change that though easily enough. on rereading my reply sounds a bit snarky, not intentionally, as there can be differences depending on how you window the data and/or draw the line. beqd, by default, is v similar to the commonly used settings for speclab albeit slightly higher frequency resolution hence it tends to be a bit spikier in appearance.

I do find is that the spectrum view v useful though and I think it gives a much better idea of what to expect than the traditional PvA view.

So is anyone else stalking Amazon and other sites for this week's sales lol?

There's a few movies I haven't seen that I've been waiting to go on sale.

The Greatest Showman
Rampage
A Quiet Place
Tomb Raider
Hurricane Heist

So hopefully by this weekend I'll have most of them! But realistically I'd be happy with 2 or 3

Best Buy's Black Friday sale has started. Quite a few good selections for starting at $8 for 4K movies. Less for the Blu-ray versions. I just picked up up Sicario: Day of the Soldado is $10 for the 4K version. Some movies will be cheaper at Target or Walmart, but I don't know exactly when those will start.
